Have you ever thought about zipping through the Fast Trak toll lanes without paying? Or wondered whether there might be any consequences if your transponder malfunctioned?  A longtime Fast Trak customer learned that his device didn't work when he rolled through the toll plaza in his rental car and was subsequently charged $855 in penalties for failing to pay his $5.40 in tolls. He thought the problem was all taken care of, but it wasn't.  A couple weeks ago, he received his state tax refund check, but authorities had deducted the $855.  What a surprise!  He's still fighting to get his money back with a collection agency from New York.  As those tax refund checks begin to hit mailboxes, you might want to take a close look to see if you're getting all you should...especially if you failed to pay a toll or authorities believe you tried to pull a fast one.

Surprise, Surprise! Al, do you wonder if this is a scam that is going on with the Fast Trak system? For some reason, I smell a rat. And notice that the customer has a rental car, rather than his or her own...now why do I smell a rat? How about it Al? Do You Smell A Rat? (By the way, I hope you weren't that longtime customer...but that's between you and Fast Trak...I'm putting 2+2 together with your previous parking blog.)

And for anyone who gets caught on camera with a traffic violation...there are ways to fight it, whether it's the toll thing, or a red light camera...search the web for answers before paying fines!

The OC's my beat for FOX 11 News. But you can catch me covering just about any story, any place, any time. Have news, will travel! I've been doing that here at Fox 11 for 15 years, traveling coast to coast and south of the border. You never know what you might do or where you might end up and your assignment could change from one minute to the next. To me, that's what being a reporter is all about. And it's pretty cool working in an area where I was born and raised. Yep, I'm a native Angeleno and proud of it!! In case you're wondering, Naipo is Hawaiian, the short version of the 21-letter ancestral name, Naipoikamanaihookaahi....
Good luck on the pronunciation.
