So did you see the pictures of Miley Cyrus?  They are part of an article on the teen pop icon in Vanity Fair magazine.  The pictures were taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.  They are quite different than the images that may come to mind when we think of Miley and/or Hannah Montana.  Do you think the pictures are too suggestive?  I hope she doesn't grow up too fast.  Innocence is nearly impossible to re-capture once it's gone!

Regardless of Ms. Cyrus's seeming surprise at the photo spread; I believe she knew exactly what would happen and is using this whole situation purely for publicity reasons. I feel that her father and mother should have been more involved in this affair and have failed to prove their interest in the proper protection of their CHILD..Yes, 15 is only a child.

I believe her dad was involved. For crying-out-loud...HE WAS IN ONE OF THE PHOTOS!

I know Miley is a teen icon, but she is STILL a minor. Therefore, her parents still have the last word.

WAKE UP BILLY RAY!!! Haven't you been following the self-destruction of so many other teen icons. Please intervene while you have the opportunity...

I agree it all seems contrived because one would think both Miley & her dad are aware of Disney's standards. Or, they should have been?

Isn't any publicity good publicity?

Anything for money? Not my kid. My wanna-be popstar will stay a wanna-be until she has graduated from high school. Hopefully w/honors! ;)

i saw an interview a few weeks ago with miley and her dad and they both said that she gets in trouble for wearing skirts too short. her parents make her change. if that really happens why would they let her do photo's like this?

I saw one of the photos and it seems that in our culture it certainly is inappropriate. But let's remember that by design, women are adults at puberty. We must decide if biology or our laws apply here. I'll take the law if you please.

I thought she was trying out for the next Batman Movie as a female Joker with the sloppy red lips.

Terrible thing I think to use your daughter to pay your bills. Not a lot of difference apparently between Billy Ray and Britney Spears mother....reminds me of Brooke Shields mom in the 80's.

No the sad thing is that everyone thinks Annie Leibovitz is this great photographer. If anyone else took pictures like that they would be arrested for child porn.

Although the pictures are not acceptable for a 15 year old and her parents should have MORE common sense, HOLLYWOOD and FAME and MONEY speak louder than values sometimes. I don't like the pictures but I am sure they could have been worse if taken by someone else.

I'm VERY disappointed in Billy Ray. I thought he was smarter than to allow his daughter to pose in close to pornographic photos at the age of 15. What was he thinking? (Or maybe he wasnn't!) I have a feeling this is going to backfire in ways no one suspects. If Miley is trying to advance her career by lying on a publicity stunt, pretending she is "embarrassed by the photos, I think she is a very foolish girl in for a nasty surprise. I hope she stops, and does not folllow the footsteps of Brittany Spears and Lindsey Lohan. WAKE UP, BILLY RAY!!!!

They don't seem any more suggestive than if the had on a bare backed one piece swim suit. They may not be age appropriate but they are not suggestive. I don't think the photographer Annie Leibovitz is used to taking too many pictures of teens. It looked like a honest attempt to take an artistic photo but given the age of the subject, it backfired. the tabloids are always looking for a BLEEP in someone's armor but they forget when Brook Sheilds was naked in that movie "Pretty Baby". Now that was a suggestive movie! bordered on kiddy porn if you ask me. If you doubt it or don't remember it, do a google image search for "Brook Shields Pretty Baby"! You'll see!

I'm with Floyd on this one though. I would have also said "Miley who", if she hasn't been on the news every five minutes for the last year!*lol*

MoonOwl,

"...one would think both Miley & her dad are aware of Disney's standards. Or, they should have been?"

Are you kidding? Disney has no standard where this is concerned. Have you seen the underware ads in japan for Disney branded underware for kids? It's little more than teeny boppers in tiny skivies with Mickey on their butts! Disney can't claim shock here either!

As I write this bio, I realize just how fast time flies. I've been working at WTVT Channel 13 for almost 20 years. I started on the morning show with Ernie Lee, when it was called "Breakfast Beat." During these years I've worked the medical beat and weekend mornings. I come from the Midwest. I was born and raised in Decatur, Illinois, once the soybean capitol of the world! College took me to the big city of Chicago. I "played in Peoria" at a TV station there before settling in Tampa. It's been a great adventure, and I can't wait for the NEXT 20!!!!!
