People used to joke about this girl or that being a nymphomaniac. But that was mostly the product of overactive imaginations driven by the overactive hormones of adolescent boys.

From her several appearances in the public eye, under arrest and handcuffed, led by an escort of Law Enforcement Officers, Stephanie Ragusa apparently thinks that her escapades are just a joke. It's no big deal to her, as she does the perp walk with a big grin on her face. Her voice was even “lilting” as she spoke to the Judge at her hearing.

Don't you think it's about time to explode the old myth about how lucky a boy is to have sexual activity with an older woman? Every person reading these lines knows that if it were a man, accused of such, he would not have been released the first time, let alone twice.

And this woman, nearly thirty years of age has violated the trust of the Courts this second time, despite her previous release on MULTIPLE COUNTS OF STATUTORY RAPE.

Again, no man would not have been released the first time, and if he were a Teacher, his life wouldn't be worth a plug nickel if he was. Another Blogger asks, “What's wrong with this picture?”

I believe it is a whole lot more than a sick and twisted woman. It is a whole lot more than uninvolved and irresponsible parents of the (how many, now?) boys the sick and twisted woman has dallied with.

This is the normal and natural and expected outcome in a culture which has become as selfish and callous and politically correct as modern day America. You love to compare “straight” men who do this type of thing to animals and monsters and “human filth.” You hoot in agreement when a rabid Television or Radio host rants and raves about how these sickos ought to be castrated and burned at the stake and buried under the jail.

WHERE IS YOUR OUTRAGE over this one, and the “too-pretty-to-go-to-prison” one, and the “it's-getting-to-be-too-many-to-remember-and-count” one? Why don't you believe this country is in trouble?  Why aren't you taking this seriously?

Maybe it's because you just don't really care.

This woman makes the Cheshire Cat look like Eeyore, for crying out loud. She's NOT taking this seriously and DOESN'T EVEN understand she's done something wrong!! She's the teacher, for crying out loud, and not some giddy 15 or 16 year old with a case of the "boy crazies".
And she was caught by the police coming out of the boy's home with her pants practically down around her ankles. Where exactly where the boy's parents while THAT WAS GOING ON?!
If parents were actually in touch with their kids and a real part of their offspring's life, they would know exactly who was coming in and out of their homes and they would know the teacher.
No one who's normal walks around looking like a happy face sticker 24/7 and certainly no one looks like a happy face sticker in their mugshot either. This woman doesn't even look like she's living on Planet Earth and immediately strikes one as being EXTREMELY WRONG in her every affect.
Come on, stick her in jail with 3 or 4 big scary women criminals (preferably with teen age sons) and throw away with key!!

Ms Ragusa is operating with less than a full deck.

Am I ticked because she dallied with a willing 15 yo boy?

No.

First time around he was just a lucky lad and she would have paid a price for violating her responsibilities as a teacher. The price is much higher now because of her flaunting the court. Don't worry Ark, she'll do hard time and most likely not get bail until her trial.

I do wonder why the outrage over this issue?

I save my outrage for babies who are murdered, wives abused and murdered, school girls raped and beaten.

Not a willing encounter between an eager lad and his good looking teacher.

There is much to be outraged about in our society and this ranks near the bottom for me.

But, to each his own.

Yellowdog, comments like that are the very reason I agree with Michael Savage (though I despise his show).  Liberalism is a mental disorder.
You are just as sick as that Child Molester!
OOOPS!! Didn't mean to let your cat out of the bag.

A 15 yo boy playing whoopie with a 22 yo teacher is equal to a killer of a 2 yo child in terms of outrage??

I can't see it Ark.?

That's my point.

Priorities.

The fifteen years old is still a kid.  His life is just as important as the two years old.

That's the problem: this society has "evolved" to the point that individual lives really don't matter.  That is poignantly manifested by the change of the Personnel Department to Human Resources.  Personnel being Individuals with the value ascribed of personal Human Dignity, and Resources being a thing that is used and may be discarded if desired.  A paradigm shift toward the negative.

And in that paradigm shift males are like puppies.  They are so precious and cute and darling when they are little.  But, when he is grown, just chain him to a tree in the back yard and forget about him because his wagging tail might knock something off the coffee table.  And, if he barks in his lonely discontentment, throw a shoe at him.

You can say it ain't so, but you would be in denial,  spelled Don't Even kNow I Am Lying.

The biggest problem is: when a victim does not receive proper counseling and treatment, they are likely to act out in a manner that labels them into the same pigeon hole.  They may not, in their deeper psyche, actually be a pedophile.  And, as we are seeing, that goes for females as well as males.

I believe they should be given one chance (and one chance only) to have their onion peeled to find the root of the problem; and have the opportunity to challenge and change the erroneous core beliefs that have brought them to this offense.

The Psych Community KNOWS and has always known that UNTREATED VICTIMS MAKE MORE VICTIMS.  But so many have gone into the field of psychology for no other reason than to understand themselves, and really care nothing for their subjects when they get to the bottom line.

Hey Ark, I guess you're one of the 9 guys in this country who would have refused her advances at age 15. Not me. I just can't see anyone telling a 15 year old boy that just got laid that he's a victim, not lucky. The reason that there's a double standard is that females are expected to give birth and care for the child. Problem? Complain in Church.

It seems very odd that when a criminal act is reported, the first reaction is for some citizens to compare that "act" with other more violent criminals. Why? A crime should and must be punished according to written laws without exception to race, color, creed, national origin or gender.

There is more than the carnal "act" itself in question here. Until adulthood it is unlawful for an elder to use sexual persuasion with a minor. This is not a matter of the "luck of the draw" but a serious breach of professional trust placed in a person with criminal intent. Anyone who would trivialize such behavior must be of questionable moral standards as well.

This society in whole has gone down the toilet, you see it everyday. The way people dress when they go to the stores, the garbage that is on tv, the utube, myspace, etc. The people do not have respect for themselves much less anyone else. Today's society is nothing more than a bunch of self centered individuals who only care about themselves and what they can get. I can not begin to point the finger at any particular person or thing because everything is out of whack. I see it everyday, and I have to deal with it everyday. When I see something that is not right, I try to teach my kids the difference between what is acceptable and what is not. Sure, my opinions on what is right and wrong will always be different from someone else's, but you have to start somewhere.

Vittorio, you know very well there was a time when a fifteen years old boy was no longer considered a boy, but a man.  And, it was not very long after a girl began her monthlies that she was considered to be of "marrying age."  That's not on the Church, nor is the departure from that norm on the Church.  It is simply a thing of our culture.  In other cultures (perhaps rightly considered backward) it has not changed.

Neanderthal, your point is very well taken.  Our culture made its changes toward its present attitudes because society realized that, short of a certain age, boys did not have a fully developed sense of maturity and responsibility to actually be good fathers, even though they were able to sire offspring.  Society also realized that girls do not have the physical maturity and stamina to safely bear children, even though they were able to become pregnant.

The greatest problem I see in all of this is that the taboos have not been adequately explained and understood, and in the interest of "progress" those taboos and the reasoning behind them have been seriously marginalized in some areas of focus, are in the process of being eliminated in other areas of focus, and the whole business has been POLITICIZED.  The Laws, and the penalties imposed by them are DRACONIAN.  There is a deep and abiding prejudice inculcated by Sensational Media Reporting, Militant Feminism, the Gay Agenda, and a definable Pride in Decadence.

Gary3088, SPOT ON!!

Vit,

You got a 15 year old daughter I can borrow for a while? Maybe you wouldn't say that crap if you had a child that went through this. If you are the type to teach a 15 year old BOY to go bang any skirt that wants it, I have pitty for your offspring! Young boys like these who got "lucky" as you called it, are the ones most likely to molest young girls when they are the adult! Makes you wonder what happened to Ragusa when she was 15 to make her think this kind of thing is ok.

The first written code of laws in Athens, that of Draco (c. 621 BC), were shockingly severe (hence the term draconian) — so severe that they were said to have been written not in ink but in blood.

I agree with mmustangg, there is a very double standard regarding this with boys and girls, girls are considered to be _____ you all know the words used, and boys lucky and normal. No matter what that smurk she wears makes me sick, she seems so proud of herself. I also don't believe that anyone is TOO PRETTY to go to jail for these crimes. True to the fact if it was a guy he wouldn't have gotten bail in the first place........what is wrong with this picture

You see to have an excellent grasp here, Terrie.  I would like to hear more from you, relating to my additional comments.  Keep in mind that "Nymphs" in ancient lore were considered mischievous, if not malevolent entities.

Has anyone given thought to this teacher's other students? How about their parents?
How about the media asking them how they feel?
I am ashamed that the teaching profession has to deal with this.

Good points folks. And you're correct about it being cultural. The culture I grew up in was definitely one of many double standards. Guys that got laid were lucky. Girls that put out were nasty. No real change here will come about until both genders are treated equally by our society. As I write this, they are not.

Ark, the reason I mentioned the Church (any) is that I've heard women complain too ofter that they, not men, must suffer the pain of childbirth. I advise them to complain in church, and rightly so. I also tend to give the same advice on any controversy dealing with sexual differences as the root cause and that's what I did here.

BTW, God doesn't want to hear complaints. I realize I'm the first person to hear from God in 2000 or so years, but he spoke with me through my one eyed champion tuxedo cat; Iffwad Sivwaad Sivwaad Nit. God has a Southern accent but no drawl.
