Do you believe this stupid, idiotic, selfish mom?  She needs to go away and get treatment for a VERY long time.

Lenexa Mom In Court For Fourth DUI Charge Natasha Rivera or just enabling jstl so that we can just write ${bean.property} and jsp takes care of the new lines. -->
A Johnson County woman in jail suspected of driving drunk with her child in the car was in court on Wednesday.  Prosecutors said the woman, 25-year-old Natasha Rivera, is a repeat DUI offender.

According to court documents, this is the fourth time the Lenexa mom was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.  The prosecutor's office said this is the second time she's had a child in the car while suspected of DUI.

According to the prosecutor's office, someone spotted Rivera on New Year's Eve driving improperly and called police.  Court documents show Rivera was over the blood alcohol limit when she was arrested in Olathe.  Court documents also show Rivera had a child in the vehicle at the time of her arrest.

Rivera's husband was in court, but declined to discuss her case.

Rivera was also arrested on October 14 for DUI and on December 19, she entered a plea agreement for her third DUI offense and was given probation.

Dr. John Schmitz, a psychiatrist at Two Rivers Hospital, said as the numbers of DUI offenses go up, the success in treatment goes down.

"In the case of the repeat offender stringent laws are the only thing that works," Dr. Schmitz said. "We've heard of the concept of tough love and the same concept applies in the treatment of people with chemical dependancies."

Rivera is being held on a $10,000 bond.  In court, she asked to have her bond reduced.  If Rivera is able to post bond, she's ordered to house arrest and not allowed to drive, be around firearms, drink alcohol or take drugs.  She's expected back in court on January 10.

The mom should have thought of that when she pulled that stupid BLEEP, what she would be doing to everyone in the family. I'm wondering if this is the same lady that was found passed out drunk in a car running in a parking lot with her child?

actually, the new law states : 3 DWI's = 15 yrs

I have a family member that just got 8 yrs. he has a wife suffering with cancer and 2 young children that I will have to care for. Shelfish people who only care about themselves, should be by themselves, in an 8 X 10 cell.

God bless you for helping them out Cass. Some people think that whatever they are doing is more important because they are having fun and feeling good, they don't think about the long term and the consequences of their actions.

Was this Natasha Rivera not charged with child endangerment or related charges for having a child with her? It sickens me that anyone is given a second or third chance. The first offense is still ridiculous, it is plain and simple you drink, you drive, STUPID. For every action, there is a consequence. The problem is that there always seems to be an excuse, no matter what county or state you are in. The next problem is that these offenders have youngsters who see them get arrested, slapped on the wrist, over and over. All that does is create a cycle. What only adds to the disgust is having another life in the car, and the other lives you risk not only in your car, but on the roads you are traveling when you drink and drive. Stay safe, stay sober, don't drink and drive.
