BeStrong's Blog

by BeStrong from Kansas City

Last Post 2 days, 13 hours Ago

I have heard of a person leaving this blog because of constantly being bashed for his beliefs. I have seen some of the name calling going on and I find it a disgrace to your intellect and adulthood as well. These are also the same people wondering why children are the way they are today. Well, children learn what they live. If adults are unable to control themselves and debate without completely sabotaging someone with vile remarks, why would we expect anything less from our children?  People are able to say what they want, but dont whine when we see our children being just as vicious. Think about it before you respond and try to completely humilate me!!!

Be strong:Jim is not the best person to defend in this particular situation.Jim gets upset with opposing views whether or not they include personal attacks. The first day he posted here he was deleteing comments he didnt like and attacking the people that made WITHOUT GIVING THEM AND OPPORTUNITY TO RESPOND ON THE POST.I debated jim this week and did not use personal attacks-only facts and MY perceptions.Disagreeing with someone IS NOT bashing their beliefs!Expressing our beliefs IS NOT forcing them on anyone. Not to pick a fight but it seems the liberals on here-when challenged feel some sort of oppression and that is not the case.We conservatives are berated constantly and most(not including me)just let it roll off their backs.Ill admit Ive felt like I was pushed too far and lost my temper but I never wanted to quit and I only got upset after days upon days of hearing the same things jim list in his "farewell"post.jim left because he couldnt handle it-im sorry for that because contrary to popular belief I welcome opposing views and enjoy discussing them.I hate "preaching to the choir"and wouldnt do this if everyone always agreed with me!Lets blog on!

Ode- then this post does not concern you. i did not say jim didnt call names, my main point is i have seen it on everyones part and its quite shameful. I am not perfect and yeah I have said things I am ashamed of due to being a little riled, but I always try to make a point of apologizing afterwards or at least making light of the situation. It all falls on someones pride and ego. and if we as adults are unable to be polite and quaint then how do we expect our children to be?

One comment on the deleting posts thing-- it is a persons right to do that. i have seen people say it is out of weakness but perhaps maybe more out of keeping nasty name calling comments out of their blog. there was one on here that deleted someone out of their blog then when it happened to them griped about it.

Ode - This is the second post that you have been on still bashing Jim and trying to defend whatever part of his leaving was yours.

The more you talk the more righteous Jim is.

stephen: Im dont need to defend anything I did to jim-I DID NOTHING TO JIM!He simply cannot deal with opposing viewpoints and im simply making that clear. It is not the behavior of my fellow conservative bloggers than caused him to leave-He evidently feels oppresed and humiliated when he meets with opposition!

I've said what I've said and I'll stand by what I have said.

And I'll stand by what I am going to say, namely;

The only thing that makes up for your very narrow mind is your enormous ego. You are not the only guilty party. From this point on I will no longer feed your ego and I encourage everyone else to do the same thing.

Have a nice life.

I get whatever skills I have from the grace of my God-without him I am nothing-Im proud to be conservative and I guess it shows-What a shame I was really looking forward to debateing one of "the pure elite"-who's got an ego? Didnt mean to step on yours!

You have a nice life as well!

be strong: The "delete" issue is basically this-dont post if you cant handle opposing views-even if people get out of hand. When somone crosses the line on here they show themselves for what they are and everyone knows it. I ONLY delete if they dont use english!

my goodness ode, lay off!!!! your showing yourself real well right now. as far as the right to delete or not delete, it is still a right a freedom a privilage. Let me say it does not show you are weak, it shows you do not wish to have constant attack or vile remarks. if you do not wish to be deleated be civil in trying to make your point.

I blog on here all the time and have been for a couple of years. I consider myself a conservative. Some of the other conservatives on here might not consider me as one of them. There are a lot of issues I consider myself to be an independant on.

I have 2 instances where I will delete comments: 1. If you resort to name calling (moron, idiot, etc) and 2. Comments in a foreign language.

You may say "well I wasn't referring to you".

Well, I voice some strong opinions but don't resort to "trashtalk". SkookumJim didn't delete me - he blocked me! I could not put a comment on his blogs!

If you are going to blog an opinion you have to be able to accept an opposing viewpoint - otherwise why blog?

SkookumJim is welcome back any time. If he should come back he should be willing to debate and be ready for discussion and dissenting opinions!

For that matter (as far as I'm concerned butterfly5 and hobmic could come back too. They have their viewpoints and I have mine. Hobmic really got under my skin because she tried to invoke superiority because she belongs to MENSA! MENSA people might be intelligent but intelligence alone rarely gets one to the "nuts & bolts" of an issue. Sometimes an issue doesn't need to be cerebralized. A "gut reaction" or instinct may serve better!

This is what happens when you take Jesus out of blogging.

Ode let me start by, you know I used to claim myself as liberal and now I'm independent. Not once did I whine about when any of you disagreed or said the "dumb liberal" stuff.
Oh, by the way, hello!!!

Bestrong,
Yes you or anyone else may have the right to delete comments but don't make someone else look stupid doing it. Example, I was debating immigration and welfare with somebody and I made some really good points. But because they knew I had the uphand in the debate they deleted every one of my comments. So all you seen was them getting the best of me. So it looked like they outdebated me and I had nothing to say in return. I didn't call names or disrespect. One other thing, all because people get nasty on the internet doesn't mean they have messed up children. Kids are messed up nowadays because adults have no control anymore. I grew up getting cussed at, hit, whooped, etc. You know what, I became a responsible man that works hard to support his family, I've never been arrested, i always try to help who I can, etc. Before all these "parents can't spank their kids" laws went into effect youth wasn't all that bad, not like the way it is today. So please, don't say this is why children are messed up. The last but not least reason is "lack of parenting". People may not want to hear that but it's the truth.

Everyone,
Feel free to say whatever you want to me. Whether it's insulting me, calling me names, etc. I won't whine and cry, I'll just fight back. >:)

I just happened upon this post, and typically I don't even look in the politics topic b/c I personally don't get involved in anything political. This just caught my eye. So, I have been blogging here for a year now, and I see many things go on here, some disturb me that adults would act so immaturely. I myself have had my moments. However, I wonder what this particular blog post has to do with politics? And why the juvenile behavior? Seriously people...it's this type of behavior that will get the blog site shut down.

it was posted right above shookumjims blog. that is why it is political blogs. my main point was name calling just seems inappropriate, but the blog grew a life of its own.
