This post if for those of you who think that us responsible citizens shouldn't have the right to carry a gun!

These citizens did not lie down and become a door mats, they had a spine and they took action!  By the way this is one of my favorite columns to read, I love reading about the bad guys getting just desserts!

Feel free to throw your two cents in!

As always, thanks for the blog!

The Miami Herald, Miami, FL
Just four months after burglars stole jewelry worth thousands of dollars from a Florida townhouse, four suspects attempted another heist. This time, however, the homeowners' 26-year-old son was sleeping inside. According to police, Richard McKinley heard someone entering the home, grabbed a handgun and went to investigate. He confronted four burglars, and pointed his gun at them while demanding their hasty departure. Instead, they began struggling with McKinley and he opened fire. One intruder died instantly. The others fled. "[McKinley] took it upon himself to defend himself, and I'd do the same thing he did," said a neighbor.

UPI, AL
Two gunmen kidnapped an Eclectic, Ala., town policeman and used the officer to gain admittance to the home of Carl Ray Barker in the early morning hours. Barker, an Eclectic banker, was taken by one gunman into town to open the bank's vault, his wife, child, and the town policeman being held hostage by the armed companion pending a safe return from the bank. When the time-vault resisted opening, the gunman returned Barker to his house and, after some debate, took the policeman away with him to get tape for binding all hostages until morning, when another attempt was to be made on the vault. Barker, now held in his home with wife and child by the second armed man, asked if he could make coffee. The robber assented and Barker put water on the stove and got it boiling. "I took the scalding water to the living room," said Barker. "When he held his cup, I just poured the water in his face and grabbed his gun." Barker pistol-whipped the robber into submission, loaded a shotgun and waited for the return of the other bandit. When the door opened, the captive policeman dived out of the way and Barker killed the would-be bank robber with two blasts. Barker said he feared for his family's safety and, "I didn't want my bank to get a bad name about being robbed."

Herald-Tribune, Sarasota, FL
Driving to work one morning, Jim Povia, of Sarasota, Florida, saw a state trooper with his service pistol drawn, confronting a trio of male suspects during a traffic stop. Povia, a right-to-carry permit holder, pulled over and grabbed his .40 cal. pistol and went to the aid of the officer. The two held the men until backup arrived. The driver of the vehicle was driving with a suspended license and a gun was found in the rear of the vehicle. The three men were charged with felony weapons possession.

Associated Press, IN
In Indianapolis 17-year-old Gerald Watson stood near a policeman who questioned a robbery suspect when the suspect's accomplice appeared on the scene and shot the officer down. Watson, who had taught marksmanship at the YMCA, grabbed the fallen policeman's service revolver and shot the felon dead.

The Daily Commercial, Leesburg, FL
Vincent McCarthy wasn't afraid to lend a hand when he noticed a police officer struggling with a man and woman at the side of the road. He tried to help subdue the man who was kicking the officer in the face. Despite McCarthy's warnings, when the man pressed his assault, the tour boat captain shot him once in the leg with a pistol he is licensed to carry and stopped the attack. Neither the officer nor McCarthy were seriously injured.

The Press-Herald, Minden, LA
During a drug arrest in Webster Parish, La., a sheriff's deputy and a state trooper found themselves struggling with their two suspects. But four citizens observed the battle and, armed with shotguns, they came to the officers' aid--enabling them to make the arrests.

The Star-Banner, Ocala, FL
When a drug-trafficking suspect fleeing a state police traffic stop ran through an Ocala, Fla., campground, he was spotted by the manager. Leonard Hicks armed himself and held the man at gunpoint for pursuing officers. An officer later commented, We wouldn't have caught the suspect if it hadn't been for him.

Always loved this part of NRA gun mags. It was the first article that I read when the new ones came.

Too bad more of these stories don't hit the MSM. Ha---that's laughable I know.

If I'm not mistaking, isn't the Supreme Court going to be making a ruling on the Gun law in the District of Columbia this spring?

Can any of you elaborate on it some for me as to how this may effect my 2nd Amendment Rights?

A little about me, I'm an acquaintance of the Boogyman and know him personally. He emailed me an invitation to expose the skeevy leftists in Orlando. I've barely begun but see it as a bigger challenge then the ones who run and hide in Denver. IE a much more dense population you guys have.

Also, so far I've pegged truthwillsetyoufrreeee, and some zigzagbiot guy who fancies hairless cats as two Surrender Party members who cannot be reasoned with. No matter, I'll gladly pummel the most impossible personality with facts until their eyes and ears bleed.

Any additional targets will be headed and appreciated.

My apologies for straying a bit off topic, I just thought I would reach out to a few who seem to be of a similar thought process.

Have a nice day!

Specter, let me see what I can dig up in my spare time LOL!

Let's see you should like Z-bert and possibly Thinktanked. There are others but I can't think of who right now...

If you like a good argument look up Northton aka Norty but he really isn't a bad guy, I like him.

As far as like minded you will find plenty of us, Rexsmom, LQQKING, DeborahfromLakeHelen, Meb452 and DaytonaFrank just to name a few.

Tip: Read all of the news and political blogs, not just the ones featured as they are mostly Fox News people. That should give you a pretty good idea of who is who! LOL!

Brenda, I always enjoy reading articles like this, it puts a nice, big smile on my face.

I recently did a blog similar to one of your articles. Have a look at it if you care to.

http://myblogorlando.com/viewtopic.php?t=70

It's about an 80 year old man who successfully fought off two thug brothers who tried to break into his home.

Looking forward to the next batch of articles like this!

Good post as usual girl. A cononer's wagon and a body bag is a befitting permanent end to crime. Dead people don't dial 911 and dead criminals never committ crime again. Why this is such a hard choice for many, is beyond me !

How many of the criminals with guns had Concealed Weapons Permits?

shadows, why would a crook waste money on a permit?

A criminal is going to waste his time getting a Concealed Weapons Permit? That's just blasphemy! Why bother when you can just steal a gun?

Seriously... nice try at a counter, though.

The courthouses are jammed with crooks who are awaiting trials for gun related crimes. There's plenty of room at the morgues.

Yes Sabaii there is plenty of room at the morgue for them! If they break into my house while I am here they will leave in a body bag! =)

And how absurd is that statement shadows? Like a convicted felon could get a CWP or even legally buy a gun? And what makes you think that they would pay the money to get a CWP? They are too lazy to work, they just want to take everything that you have earned! I would bet that 99.9% of the CWP's out there are held by law abiding citizens! Here's your sign!

I think what Shadows may be trying to ask, is BEFORE the criminal ever thought (or even if they did) about or did any type of criminal activity, did they have or get a concealed weapons permit? Seems pretty basic to me and a valid question.

Just because I'm a "citizen" and have never committed such a crime, does not mean someone won't, even after getting permitted to carry a weapon.

Personally, I'd like to know if there really were any of these criminals that got caught or blown away did have such a permit. We may all be surprised by the answer and a question valid of an answer too.

Now I'm NOT one for guns per se, but if I did own one and someone broke into my home, chances are, if I opted (which I don't and probably won't) to own a gun, they definitely would not be leaving alive.
