THE STREAK IS OVER!!!  Micheal Spurlock, an undrafted free agent, a player who didn't even get on the field until 9 games into the season, has run back the first kick off return for a touchdown in Buccaneer history.  Spurlock goes 90 yards up the right side and puts his name in the record books.

This streak started in 1976, and today was the Bucs 510th regular season game, 525th total game (counting playoffs) without a kickoff return for a touchdown.   In fact, the Bucs were the only team in the league never to have returned a kick off for a touchdown until today--when Micheal Spurlock (whose shoes have to be heading into Pro Football's Hall of Fame) takes the kick and runs into Buccaneer history.

When you look at the numbers, 141 different players have returned kicks in Buccaneer history and Spurlock is the first,  a player whose name will always be remembered as the one who broke a streak that started when the Bucs played their first game back in 1976.

In 1976, Jimmy Carter was the country's President,  one of of 6 different Presidents to take office before Spurlock reached the endzone today.  The movie of the year in 1976 was "One flew over the cuckoos nest", the number one song of the year "Love will Keep us together" by the Captain and  Tennille,  This streak started when the first Rocky movie came out,  there were 5 Rocky sequels before Spurlock reached the endzone today.

So, let me know what you think, send me your comments and we'll put some of them on the air, let me hear from the Buccaneer fans who have waited a long, long time for this day.

My wife and I NEVER miss a moment of ANY Buc game...until today.

We heard about the run-back as we were out finishing up the purchase of our Christmas tree.

We screamed.

I'm 25 and have been a Buc's fan all of my Life. I produce music, so on this day I was working on song, while having the Buc's game in sight to my left, once the kick off came I Did'nt pay to much mind, then I seen him break away, I jumped up and started hollering as if we won the superbowl again! I called my mother and Grandma right afterward, both were as excited as me. My roomate is as a Buc fan as I, when he got home tonight I asked "Did you see it" He told after it happend he was so excited he huged his brother and told him he loved him.
WOW! after seeing thsi I think it is possible the DEVIL rays (they will always be the devil rays)Might have a winning season!!!

I've been a Buccaneer fan when they were in tampa stadium. I've a season ticket holder for 19 year. I sit in section 120 so I saw Micheal come straight toward me. I'm legally blind so I watched it through my binoculars. It was like we won our second Super Bowl. I hope the Bucs keep #17.

I have been a fan since the Bucs started playing. I went to the first game at the old stadium and the last one and the first game at the new stadium. I was at home watching the game with my grandson while his father was at the game because he has season tickets. I know the neighbors heard me yelling I was so excited. Congradulations. Peg

My Dad and I have been Bucs season ticket holders since the Bucs were "born". We remained faithful fans through the "orange years". Today we tailgated, as usual. Walked into the stadium, tickets scanned, gate giveaway, fantastic national anthem, awesome flyover, all as usual. Ronde Barber picked a pass and ran it in pretty much as usual. Defense holds the Falcons to 3 points, tough D, as usual. Then we lined up to recieve the kickoff...Dad says, "Spurlock has been wanting to return one for a touch down", I replied "I would fully support him in that". (Kick) Spurlock has the ball, he runs, I said something like, "no way!", "Oh my God!", "Dad, he's gonna do it!", and he did. We hugged, not only each other but the surrounding fans as well. High fives flying, my eyes began to swell with tears. Division clinched, kick off return #1865 is returned for a touch down this has been one great day and, Daddy, we were there!

At Ole Miss we all knew Micheal was a tremendous athlete. We all knew about his speed. Why do you think his nick name is Smoke? Congrats Micheal, we're all very happy and proud of you.

Sunday was my birthday. I was holding my 2 year old daughter in my bedroom while my wife was sleeping. I woke my wife up when Spurlock was on about the 50. I called my 5 year old daughter into the room and she saw the replay. The whole family saw it. AWESOME!!

This was the only game me and my wife went to all year and it sure looks like this was the one. How is Gruden finding these guys, Spurlock this cat went from the basement too the penthouse in one afternoon. I like the Bucs to spank the New York Football Giants but the offense needs to put up more to have a shot against the Cowboys or Packers.

During the game on Sunday, Dec 16, 2007, my friend Sam and I were watching the game and the awesome kick off returned for a touchdown from Section: 144, Row: Z, Seats: 19 & 20. The place was electrifying when Michael Spurlock ran back the kick-off return for the touchdown. I even had to remind several fans around us that we just saw history made after 32 years of trying. I have been a Bucs fan and supporter since the Tampa Bay area got the team and have been attending Bucs games through out the years. When I went in the Air Force back in the early 1980's, I use to get ragged alot about being a Buc fan and supporter, but I have had faith in the team all this time, and was over joyed when this awesome event took place. I want to thank the Glazers, staff, coaches and players for making it such a wonderful atmosphere at the RJ and for having faith in letting there players play the game of football to the best of there abilities....David T.....Clearwater, FL.....
