How sick is this?

CNN's Karen Wynter, shows us how some Hollywood Producers are starting to portray the War on Terror and  9/11 in a Comedic light.

This morning I woke up early and turned the television on and the classic 1957 show Leave it to Beaver was on and for a few minutes I watched the show and then asked myself, where are all the good and decent programs today? Why is it today, to be entertained, Hollywood demands to bring us programs with sex and violence?

The Hollywood Writers are continuing to strike, does it matter? Have they actually done the public a service or disservice during the last few decades?

Lets face it, the film industry does influence American public opinion and has undermined our values, we have tolerated this behavior for so long that it has become normal. Should we demand better?

By the time a child has reached their teen age years, they have witnessed more sex acts and innuendos, more shootings and violence, for what reason, to be entertained? Hollywood continues to push the envelope, which desensitizes Americans. In less than one life time we have gone from enjoying weekly episodes of The Lucy Show, with Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz and The Waltons, to the senseless and shameless likes of Paris Hilton & Nicole Richie being famous for nothing, the antics of Brittney Spears and her self implosion to Michael Richards racist tirade which was caught on tape and played by TMZ.com

Is society better off today than it was less than a life time ago? Or in the age of political correctness, are we so afraid to offend someone that one would not want to protest the making of film which many actors if they are honest enough to admit it, are embarrassed when their parents and siblings watch them undress in front of the camera, jumping into bed with a complete stranger.

In the age of instant gratification anything goes, its very ordinary to see Hollywood glamorize sex, couples that know little to nothing about one another and not married, engaging in intimacy. Has this behavior affected relationships with others?

Today 1 in 2 marriages end in divorce, an Attorney once said to me, "marriage is a crap shoot." Back when marriage was forever during the 1950's and 1960's the divorce rate in this country was relatively low, people were committed to one another during an age of thrift and savings, people made sacrifices and demanded more of themselves and expected more from others.

Hollywood used to inspire us but today much of the programming found on the Idiot Box clearly has does nothing for our well being, except to drive us down into the cesspool of permissive attitudes, erosion of personal responsibility and integrity. The Writers Guild of America are today on strike, so what? This may be an opportunity to replace them with Writers that have core values, a sense of moral duty, a compass of responsibility and a vision for a better America.
