The debate is over and Judge Michael Mukasey will become our nation's next U.S. Attorney General.  As the controversy over his nomination played out,  the issue of waterboarding became the central focus.  Whether Judge Mukasey considered waterboarding torture, and should our government (meaning the CIA) be able to do it under certain circumstances. I recently became aware of a Navy veteran named Malcolm Nance. He's a counter terrorism specialist who's been to all the world's hot spots and then some. Quite an impressive bio.  And he's been waterboarded...  not by a  foreign enemy, but as part of his military training.  Regardless of where you come down on the subject, his  recent article on the subject is worth a read. And it's not something you'll find in the mainstream media.  Here's the link if you're interested:

What an article. Everyone should read this. Unfortunately it will mean nothing to those who blindly believe in everything the current administration does.

I plan to read the entire article; it looks interesting. In the meantime, let me say this...

If a suspected terrorist is captured and he (or she) has knowledge of an impending attack upon INNOCENT CIVILIANS as took place in the United States on the 11th of September, 2001, All I can say is, "LET THE WATER FLOW!"

If it takes such a means of interrogation to coerce an individual to talk, I say by all means, have at it. Now I'm sure that the respondent above will point out the Geneva Convention, but I say HOGWASH.

We are dealing with a different type of enemy in this war, regardless of WHAT the limpwristed peaceniks will try to tell you.

POUR IT ON!

"limpwristed peaceniks" - glad to hear your writing from Iraq, after all, you aren't a chickenhawk, are you?

It sucks to be waterboarded no question about it but how many confirmed deaths are resulted from this method.

What is the alternative?

What is more important their life or the numerous that he has the potential to end? This means YOU.

Welcome to reality people not the infused American reality where the most important issues are speeders, gas prices, taxes, and national healthcare. It sickens me to no avail when this gets drudged around by the bleeding hearts of the MSM.

"you aren't a chickenhawk, are you?"

There he is, back to the personal attacks. I KNEW that I could count on you.

Nope. I just happen to believe that ANYTHING, that is done to an enemy that CUTS OFF HEADS and FLIES AIRLINERS into skyscrapers, is FAIR GAME.

I'm sure that, if Hillaryous was president, and SHE advocated waterboarding, it would be considered a religious sacrament!

Let's see - you said "regardless of WHAT the limpwristed peaceniks will try to tell you.' & I said "you aren't a chickenhawk, are you?".
I didn't call you a chickenhawk anymore than you called me a limpwristed peacenik.

As for the hillary line, right I know, just because I don't wear rose colored glasses regarding bush then obviously I must support Hillary.

Yep, I knew I could count on you. Thanks for the laugh.

WHAT is THAT????

"Are you a chickenhawk??"

If THOSE who have NEVER served in the Military can PROTEST the War then WHY is it Necessary for ONLY Vets to SUPPORT the War..

That's like saying that IF you NEVER Murdered someone then YOU can't Comment on the Death Penalty...

It's TWISTED Logic at BEST....

Whoops, you forgot to change the screen name, must be those purple beads.

"WHY is it Necessary for ONLY Vets to SUPPORT the War.." Those beads are really strong stuff, huh?

OUTstanding, Hawk!

BTW: Did I call HIM a limpwristed peacenik? No - I don't think so. I merely mentioned limpwristed peacniks in my post. Just because he's paranoid doesn't mean that all of the conservatives AREN'T out to get him, does it?

No you didn't..NOBODY ever DOES..
NOBODY ever starts this garbage with HIM,,,It's ALWAYS the other way around...

There have been POSTS written about it and MANY opinions that have pointed THIS out....

Ok you remembered to change this time.

Hmm, but evidently saying "you aren't a chickenhawk, are you?" is different. Guess I could say what that is, but then I'd be accused of a personal attack. So I'll just return the paranoid line, since that must be OK to say.

Hey, thanks for another laugh.

In my opinion, if you want to use your own blogs to sling mud, fine.

But I find it disrespectful to use someone else's blog (in this case, one of WTVT's anchors) to do so.

Over & out.

There IS a double standard. I am totally against torture of our citizens, we're better than that. In war, things are different and there are NO rules. Well, maybe the Golden Rule. The enemy deserves to have their tactics returned, and with gusto. The world is not yet a civilized place.

Just a Thought here..Does it occur to anyone that the MORE we Clean Up,,Sanitize,,Make Acceptable,,Make Civilized,,REMOVE the HORRORS of,,WAR the MORE "Acceptable" WAR becomes and the more OF them we will have???

You're BOTH making sense. I've known all along that Hawk gets it. Vitt gets it, too.

Quote by Vitt: "The enemy deserves to have their tactics returned, and with gusto."

Indeed. If some don't have the stomach for Chinese Water Torture, let's try the rack or bamboo under the fingernails. When you are dealing with an enemy that has demonstrated a propensity to harm innocent women and children, the gloves need to come off.

I agree, killing innocent men, women and children is a crime and should be punished!

"Iraqis berate U.S. for airstrike that killed civilians

What's the difference?

Hawkeye read my blog
Nov 10, 2007 | 11:13 AM

The difference is that THEY INTENTIONALLY TARGET and Kill Innocents and WE don't..

They DO so in time of WAR and PEACE and WE don't..

THAT'S the differene...

WHY don't YOU go ask the Family of Danial Pearl if there's a difference????

If a country is invaded on false pretense and twisted intelligence that basicly amounts to lies put forward by those in a position of trust who made the decision to invade, and because of that invasion innocent men, women and children are killed and continue to be killed by the invaders, is that not unlawful and immoral murder?

I read the post and Knew about the claims beforehand..
Your comments are essentially unproven opinions and the "Oil Beneifits", or more precisely, the LACK of them, seem to fall FAR short of corroborating the accusations....
