Did you ever have a sense you have already read something, or been somewhere before?

This eerie experience was dubbed deja vu by scholars who obviously thought the English "already seen" lacked cachet. According to an article by Alan S. Brown in the journal Current Directions in Psychological Science, new medical tools and imaging systems, plus an evolving grasp of the human brain are enabling researchers to zero in on deja vu and its causes.

Researchers now know deja vu is an illusion, a vivid mental trick played by the mind on itself. Only we are too dim to get the joke.

Have you ever walked into a room for the first time, and could swear you have been there before?

Have you ever been in a place that you know in your heart you have seen in the past, even though you haven't? Doing the same thing you are doing?

What is really happening is your brain is processing the experience along several neural pathways simultaneously. They all meet in the brain's higher processing centers and get filed into memory as one incident.

But sometimes one copy of the message takes a shortcut and zips into the memory first. When the other identical messages arrive, the processor announces, accurately, that they are exact repeats.

To the brain, this means you have been there before.

Two of every three people report having had the experience.

Wait a minute.  Didn't I write this blog before?  LOL!

Have you ever had this experience?

Blog it here!

Tell me if this is correct. This is how I learned how that happens: Your brain "signals" are like a highway skipping around and sometimes one lags or jumps ahead mixing up the traffic so to speak. So when you had a signal that you were in a room (which you were) the recognition signal hasnt got there yet... so when it does, it seems like you were already there. That lagging signal tells the others ahead of it "hey, got to catch up" !!

Correct?

Oh and I like your Hillary photos there... I am hoping Obama doesnt pick her as VP... I cant stand either one of them. Except for speeches, Obama puts you to sleep with his conversation. Bush was a bad communicator, but Obama reachs new lows. And I cant take Hillarys voice anymore.

now regarding this post..it is interesting but it doesn't really make sense and I will tell you my experience. I was about 12/13 years of age..often had these so sureal dreams in this home....well a year after my dad and I went on vacation to Florida and ended up moving that year..We purchased a home in what they call now HOMESTEAD...and I was in my bedroom..when all of a sudden.....MY GOD..THIS WAS THE VISION AND THE SAME PICTURES AS I HAD WHILE IN NEW JERSEY A YEAR BEFORE......I highly doubt that "Have you ever walked into a room for the first time, and could swear you have been there before? happened in the way it is on your post...Then again, we have so many brilliant minds today..HECK I AM JUST A BELIEVEER.....but no way could I have been in Florida in the same room which I had physically seen myself a year before..I still sometimes think about this and it is not the first time..it has happened to me several times now in my lifetime..there's just too much gap in time for me to believe is a brain waive that hasn't hit home yet..LOL

I have deja vu here on these blogs every day. First I click on a blog and see ranting, then I go to another blog and see more ranting that looks just like the first ranting and I swear I had read that blog before... but no it was just another blog with the same rantings. Then I go to another blog and say gee isn't this the same blog I read already? Then I realize I have clicked on one of the many duplicated posts! *sigh* Now I know I haven't read this blog before! LOL!

So true Brenda. People need to stick to the subject but sometimes the ranting could be the deja vu.

Thanx for your comments everyone!

So put away the mind game deja vu.

Has anyone had real deja vu? A vision of the future?

Candy has. Has anyone else?

It has happened to me a lot in my life. I could write a book. It happens in small ways almost every day.
The most recent, but not the most amazing example: The door on the passenger side of my van broke. I could not open it from the inside or outside. I tried everything, locking it and unlocking it and trying again. Nothing. I gave up, since it is rarely used anyway, and just got used to it not working.

Well, several weeks later I had a dream that it just started working by itself again. While having my coffee in the morning, I was thinking about the dream. So I went out and tried the door. It worked! How bizarre! It came true just like in my dream!
That is just one example.

Has anyone experienced something, or anything like that?

In my past experiences it has always be a forebarer of bad. The only problem is the time between, too great to remember to take a different course of action. Doesn't intuition fall into the same category Frank ?

Not sure what you mean Meb. I am talking about deja vu, ie: mind games, and visions of the future that really came true.

Intuition is another category. Everyone has that as well, but it would mostly be just common sense, as related to deja vu or a vision/dream.

I have had deja vu before Frank. I had a dream that I was missing a diamond out of my ring. On the way to work that evening, I turned on the car light remembering the dream, and sure enough my diamond was missing! But then I wonder, did I subconciously notice it and have a dream about it? I dunno, can't explain that one.

Subconsciously I think is how it is spelled, before the spelling police get me! LMAOROTF!

No spelling police allowed on my blog Brenda! No worries though, your spelling is correct.

I don't think you subconsciously noticed it. I think you had a vision in the form of a dream, that came true.
