Tales of the DVK

The Galleria, how my Victoria's Secret bag saved the day

 Once upon an afternoon
Month of August, not in June
I received a different chore
In the parking lot no more
I was sent to the mall
Pass out flyers, that's the call.

Stroll across Hawthorne Boulevard
For sure this job won't be too hard
A couple of flyers here and there
Visit VS for some underwear
Do my job and buy a thong
What could possibly go wrong?

I was forewarned to not appeal
Like flyers were what brought me here
I was told to do some shopping
Some genuine retail-hopping
Or else the next thing I would see
Would be the mall security

I wandered through consumer land
My bag of lingerie in hand
Acting natural as could be
So mall cops wouldn't bother me
I perused from store to store
"Want some flyers? Here, take more!"

Collecting names with my pen
Telling of Grand Openin'
GameStop and Sam Goody too
"Want some info? How 'bout you?
Shh, here comes security
Here's my card now, please call me!"

Through the food court, nonchalant
On this lead-collecting jaunt
When who before me should appear?
Security! Oh no! They're here!
About that time I wished for me
To have invisibility

I was approached by one mall dude
And thought for sure he would be rude
He asked what I was doing there
I showed my bag of underwear
I said I was notorious
For shopping at Victoria's

I silently began to pout
For surely I would be kicked out
But much to my sincere surprise
He wanted rates to analyze!
I did not expect to on this trip
Offer a mall cop a membership!

Later I returned to base
The biggest smile on my face
Said I was victorious
In the mall that hated us
I said if the mall is what they need
They should send a girl to get the leads!

Who knew a trek to the mall could have such an interesting spin?

Note to self: next time spend a little more time proofreading... oh well, it was fun to write. I tend to leave the more serious subject matter - politics and such - for other bloggers.

I enjoyed reading your blog it was cute. Sometimes as I read thru these blogs it's fun to come across a fun one such as yours. Do you have another. Take care.

Darling, if you like bad poetry then you will absolutely adore me. I'll put up some more soon.

I didn'y find it to be bad. Poetry is what it is whether you think it's bad someone else could see it as creative. It's kind of like looking at art. Keep it coming.

Well thank you very much, but I can't say I even put much thought into it. Just a little break for those of us who are not particularly inclined to go read the pompous religious fundamentalism or political hissy-fits that some people tend to spew forth in their blogs.

Thank you for your response on my blog. I'm glad to hear some people agree with me about our friend Elizabeth. I respect everyone's opinion but what bother's me is when people pick on her speaking. I also agree 100% on your last statement as well. Thak you.

I'm glad to here that because I'm still a bit new to these blogging parts and it makes me feel good that I can relate to a few of you so far. How do you feel about some responses made on my blog about how annoying Elzabeth's voice is or how she does not have what it takes to move up from a reporter?

I hadn't read the other responses until now. It didn't previously matter since whatever they said wouldn't have changed my opinion. The news and reporters, like anything else, are subject to personal preferences. What some see as bubbly others can and will see as annoying. This is all perhaps magnified by the blogs since it takes a certain kind of person to have a blog in the first place, as well as a certain kind of person to peruse the different entries and opine in response. Within that spectrum there is still a wide variety of people, from those who have not yet figured out how to turn off their caps-lock and can't be bothered to punctuate to those who are genuine journalists. Long story short, you can't please everyone.

You think she's cool, I think she's cool, and the two of us will get along just fine. Everyone else, I wouldn't write them off entirely, just find something else to relate to with them later.

You are absolutely right and after giving it some thought I couldn't agree with you more. Sometimes I overlook some things and so it helps when someone is there to point it out for you. Thank you. I think we will get along just fine.

A general will to disregard most people's opinions is a good thing to have here on the blogs. Also, no one will mind if you skillfully use your delete comment option now and then.

It seems to me that you have some time on your hands to blog here. If that is the case I would like to continue with you. I did not go to work today so I have some free time.

South Bay. I float around the Torrance/Redondo area depending on where I can find a decent place to rent. And you?

I reside in Orange County. Not exactly the area portrayed on the T.V. shows. It's more of a middle class neighborhood. I own my home here.
