Are you paying attention to world events? The dollar is weak, rising gas and oil prices, the mortage crisis, and China may switch to the euro from the dollar as America flirts with the prospect of inflation. And thats just part of it.

The national and world stage feels really shaky. Pakistan is in a state of emergency as President Musharaff suspends the courts, arrests lawyers, prohibits sales of satellite dishes and essentially tries to crush dissent and democracy. Don't forget Pakistan has nukes.

Iran and Russia are best buddies now as the threat of a cold war looms on the horizon. China is making it clear it doesn't like President Bush seducing its republic of Taiwan with dreams of democracy and independence. Add to that, American outrage over the lead based and GHB tainted toys made in China.

Thank goodness french fries are back in fashion.  The Prime Minister of France visited Mister Bush and now (I guess) we're best buddies again.

Geopolitics is creating new alliances now.  Pay attention.

The PROSPECTS of inflation???

I've got news for you, folks...in case you haven't noticed, inflation has been taking a large chunk out of your paycheck for quite some time now.

I enjoyed Geoff Simon's discussion yesterday with Russell about this. As Geoff so succinctly pointed out (as he always does), just because the government reports low inflation numbers doesn't mean that YOU are not being negatively impacted by higher prices of EVERYTHING.

Government figures to NOT include food and energy (gee, isn't THAT convenient?), taxes, insurance and ALL of the other things that you and I are paying MORE for.

well, most if not all of our problems can be alleviated if bush and cheney BOTH were impeached and sent to the front lines of afganistan and iraq since they want to be there so badly. Resurrect our constitution that the both of them are wiping their crap-laden arses with and bring back the freedoms that we have lost under this most corrupt government.

another year of these two? GOOD LORD!!!!!

Good idea babs. Add all the other woes to those mentioned and there you have the George W. (cowpoke) Bushes legacy = the most incompetant/corrupt and dishonest person ever to have stolen an election.

Exactly y'all.

In the meantime, I'm planning my garden and stocking the larder. I don't have a portfolio to watch shrink so that bodes well for my mental health. Gives me more time to worry about taxes & insurance. And how it appears there is a definite lack of accountability from above. On top of the disrespect for every document that makes us free people. At least they have shown who they really work for.

Yep, Ron Paul is the man for me and mine. Hope for America. Land of the Free and Home of the Brave!

hehehe.... I'm having a yard sale and thought about asking for Euro's. Wouldn't that be a hoot? More like a sobering reality.

Heck of a Job BushCo. Heck of a job.

Wait until the dollar gets "assimilated" into the "Amero" allowing seamless redistribution of weal...er, debt.

I try not to worry about all the fear-mongering sent my way. I have my preps in line and so the doomsayers, be they media or otherwise, have very little emotional hold. In fact, it makes me feel a little smug.

Denise, I am very fond of you because you were kind to me when I worked there, but please, not only should you spell check (GHB not GHP, Geopolitical not Giopolitical), but be cognizant that errors detract from your message.

Finally, being where I am and watching what I watch, I'm more concerned about what's NOT being covered rather than what is.

Or, more accurately, I'm concerned about the timing of the coverage, which appears to be advantageous to a particular agenda.

I'll let you do the math.

Any "super power" will always be the target of choice by countries wishing to attain the same status. Although I can hardly match the grand eloquence expressed by those mouthing disdain for the current administration, it may be worth noticing that not a syllable has, so far, varied one iota from the George Soros organization's agenda "MoveOn.org."

"Water will always seek its own level" and the above comments have certainly acheived its own "level." All condemnation and not a word for positive solutions render this Topic nothing more than personal ranting and railing against a political adversary. There just isn't anything offered here to discuss more than the latest turn of favorite hate phrases.

Hi Scott, thanks for pointing out my typos. They got by me for this post. I'll be more eagle-eyed from now on.

I came to this country 30+ years ago. In their own country, my parents experienced scarcity in childhood and abundance due to hard work as adults. In two countries, I have experienced well-to-do in childhood, and lack and recovery as an adult. My son has experienced reasonable to scarce to recovery as a child and young adult in this, his own country.

When I arrived here, “inflation” was like a benign tumor, silently turning malignant. It has been look at, talked about and reported by so-called consumers, entrepreneurs, tycoons, moguls, renowned specialists, naturalists and holistic experts. It has been misdiagnosed. It has received little or no treatment. It has since metastasized. Now it needs a highly aggressive cure. Of course, it is deadly, but dying takes time.

The antidote is, consumers who stop, counter, make fruitful life style choices. Example: STOP IMPULSE SPENDING!
Like, do not travel to a vacation spot this holiday season…
What?-You say…
Really?-You wonder…
Life style, Choices, What? - I hear you…
Pleasurable and tradition before sensible and advantageous…

Well, The reality: Those who do go - are frustratingly dealing with all the gas stations shutting down the cheapest-"regular-gas" pumps. Just to force vehicle owners/renters (workers, errand runners, visitors) to buy a much higher priced product. I mean all of them (in the hometown, on the way to, at the destination and then on the way back home…)

C O N S U M E R S are supposed to set a desired pace on demand. Businesses are supposed to “grow” or “die” based on consumer habits. In today’s world businesses thrive in a self-designed habitat. One in which consumers deal with, survive or succumb to business strategies. Understandably so, businesses only care about a VERY FAT BOTTOM LINE and dumbly (like a wild or domesticated animal) consumers say, “OK, OK, We will buy it”.

The economic realm, we all know it, closely watches, reacts based on and caters to consumer-heart’s desires. Sadly, most consumers are shortcutting the long-term enjoyment of their LIFE STYLE by behaving in the must unskillful and thoughtless manner when conducting business. We talk about proactive behavior, sustainability, planning and goals… All we do is talk. Living a life style takes methodic action. Methodic action takes goals, planning, proactive behavior, sustainability… and yes, talking about it, but only as a matter of story telling. You know, “I remember when…” after the years have passed.

Oh, yes, by the way… Blaming government, businesses, experts, terrorists and reporters is simply evasive maneuvering… It may prevent/delay an accident; but as long as we “commonly and concurrently trek that way”, it will not avoid fatality.
