Dorothy_Lucey's Blog

Oh that was such a sleazy tease! Well...would you expect less from us (or at least from me)? Normally I try to write a funny Friday Blog (well at least I try to make it funny). I usually write about what you didn't see on the air. Today we are not so goofy. We are covering the funeral of the firefighter people called "Lovey".

Maybe it's because I live in Malibu, but I have a lot of friends who are firemen. Also a funeral like this reminds me of my Dad. My father was a cop. I was lucky to have him for a good long time. He passed away 2 years ago...2 years ago yesterday. When I was a news reporter in NY I covered the funerals of so many police officers. In fact I got out of news (and into this silliness that I do) after a cop funeral. It was at St. Patrick's in New York City. The church was packed...at the end of the mass they gave the cop's son...a boy about the age my son is now....his Dad's hat. A big uniform hat ...on this little boy's head. A hat instead of a father. I burst into tears. Now I didn't know the family....but I did know I was taking every news story to heart. I just couldn't do it anymore.

Firemen also make me think of my pretty church that burned down. We are getting ready to raise the money to rebuild...but on Easter Malibu Presbyterian gave $500,000 to World Impact. They are building a teen center downtown, a safe place for kids hang out. I bet you have passed World Impact many times, you can see the sign off the 10 freeway as you head into downtown. World Impact is having an impact on inner city kids. Our church wants to be a part of that and promised the donation last October...October 20th. The next day our Church burned down to the ground. But we honored our commitment.. I do love our church.

Let me just mention our next project (then I promise I'll get back to the silly stuff). The Missions Committee of our church (which I am a proud and loud member of) supports missionaries all over the world. But we are doing something very cool here. Another charity, Imagine LA,  is hoping to get kids off the street. They say there are 8,000 homeless families in LA. There are about 8,000 churches, synagogues, and mosques in LA. Very interesting. They are hoping each house of worship will take one family off the streets. We are going to be one of the first churches to take in a family. You support them...get them off the streets for 2 years...and hope they will never go back. It's a start...our goal is that there will be no more babies sleeping on the streets of LA.

Enough do-gooding...next blog I promise all gossip.

I do not belong to a church, but I just wanted to tell you that I think what your church is doing is great. I always like to see people helping people all around the world, but I do not think enough attention is paid to problems here at home. We have plenty of people who need our help, plenty of children to adopt, gang related wars to stop, all here at home.

So I think its wonderful that you and your church is doing all that is can.

I love GDLA, I wake up and get ready listing to the three of you, every day. Although I love all the staff that fills in, I love it best when its the orig. 3. Love you guys!!

Sorry, I forgot 2 things. 1-i'm sorry you lost your dad, I remember when he passed. From what you and Steve said he sounded like a wonderful man. My best to you and your family. 2-we Rant and Ravers, were wondering, is Tony married?

Now see Ms. Lucey. For a change you wrote a great blog in earnest and that I can definitely respect. When you author topics like this, it elevates you beyond 1,000 percent in my eyes and that of many others. Yes it is a great blog and great that you brought awareness to your church and other institutions trying to help out others. This blog really makes you shine quite brilliantly and I encourage you to author more blogs like this, rather then the typical dirty lowdown type blogs. Thanks again for a great and earnest blog on your part...peace!!!

Dorothy,
You are awesome, I appreciate the good that you do. I can understand how you would want to get away from the heavy news after going through what you went through, trying to hold it together when your heart was breaking... I would have a hard time with that too, I think. Just keep doing what feels right to you and know that you are loved by many. Take care.

hi dorothy. that does not seem right for firemen to remind you of your pretty church which burned down. the firemen should stop doing that to you. it's very kind of the admissions committee to take in a homeless family. how does a family apply for admission to the church? you make my mornings better. when you are not on TV, i always wonder what you are doing. do you watch ch 11 when you are at home?

It's nice to hear Malibu Pres. is do-gooding in the local L.A. ghetto's. Going to mex. is a noble cause, but i don't
see the point, when there are exigent issues facing our own communities. I like you dorothy...always have. I love your humor. you are soooo smart. nothing gets by you. you talk about your son like my dad talked about me...we had the best relationship...don't stop talking about nash...he's the apple of you eye.

Some people like going to funerals...not me. Been to enough of em. I'd rather see old friends and network in a restroom.

1994 was my last funeral which was my fathers. At the time, my half-brother was in fed. custody and got a 24hr. pass from his best friend slick willy from san fran. Mark didn't even speak to me at the funeral, and gave me the cold shoulder when I went up to give him a kiss on the neck.

Back then mark lived on loma vista above b.h., which is large house built for entertaining. there were over 2000 people who attended dads funeral but only 200 showed up at marks house.

it was surreal. most of the people were marks friends. so i walked around the house inftroducing myself to strangers.

I met two federal prison guards who were told by willy to stay in the kitchen with the maid. I met an obese commedian named buddy hacket who sat like chubacca on the tennis court...holding court. he wore white linnen pants a green silk button down top and was void of underwear, which exposed a large silloutte of his crotch similar to grandfathers... when he wanted me to sit on his lap.

i met another man named dick martin who was ve

Dick martin was very nice and had kind eyes.

Mark was nowhere to be found. He sequestered himself in his bedroom, which took up half the house. i'm sure he was getting as much as he could, since he was going back to the hooskow for another three years.

one good thing happened...

the door bell rand and i answered it. my best friend david and his mom and dad were standing there.

Suddenly david's mom looked at me with a slight gaze and poked me in the left eye with her finger. she immediatly apologized but said she was startled when she saw my father standing behind me.

then, six months later and excluded from the will, mark he sued me...from federal prison... (with all his money) for a $20,000 inheritance.

Dorothy, i feel like a wednesdays child

Beep,
It sounds like your Dad was respected by many people. I understand your loss, my Dad died when I was 18. I am sorry that your brother could not allow himself to handle the situation with more dignity. I feel bad for the difficulties that you had to endure through that time.

i love you dorothy. what exactly do you mean by "loud" member of the missions committee? i did not realize that you are not a newscaster. i sense most people in los angeles think of you as a news anchor. david goldstein is a cool guy. he would be a worthy entertainment reporter! he is very well received in my house when he tells us what is happening. he is trustworthy.

I just found out that my 4 month old baby pit bull girl Star has a rare disease called Right Aortic Arch Anomely. The vet said the surgery cost around $6,000. Insurance won't cover this surgery becasue it is inherited so I am stuck with the bill. Right now Star throws up everytime she eats and it it only going to get worse. I am a single mother to a wonderful 9 years old son who adores Star just as much as I do and we are trying to raise money for this surgery. We were trying to save money to buy a house this year but I will be using any money I have to go to her surgery so buying a house will have to be put on hold.
If anyone has any ideas of how I can try and raise the money or know of any organizations that can try and help me.
Please let me know
Thank you so much
Tianna

Dorothy, even though your expression of discontent was not directed towards me, just looking at you on television, i still feel very afraid when i see you upset. i don't know what it is about me seeing a woman when she's upset... probably stems from those few days in my past as a youth, and seeing my mom (who i adore so much) upset, and knowing what a woman is capable of when she's pissed off!!! Dorothy, you look so beautiful when you're always happy and cheerful!!! please don't let me get in between the women who i love so much, because i'm sure that'll probably be my last day on earth LOL. (smile). You guys just do yo thang!!! never mind me. but,... maybe you or Jillian can give me some sort of signal when you're about to go at each other. Then, i'll just go shine ma shoes or clean ma guns or somethin'!!! (smile).

i'd rather be in a shootout than to see the women i love all upset!!! i know you got your reasons. i'd just rather look the other way. leaves a hurtful feeling in ma stomach. that's all.

I love you, Dorothy, and Jillian, so much.

OH, by the way... i just wanted to say that i really liked the "Hillary Clinton style" turquoise ear rings that you had on today. Looks beautiful on you. Also, I still get feelings of fear when i express ma feelin's for you. please inform your husband that YOU ARE JUST A FANTASY TO ME!!! I NEVER HAD ANY INTENTIONS OF TRYING TO GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU NOR DID I EVER EXPECT YOU TO EVER DESIRE ANYTHING TO DO WITH ME BEYOND TV HOST AND G.D.L.A. TV VIEWER!!!
(whew!!!)
i admire your husband. But, i do like you more!!! -smile-

DOROTHY... I KNOW I'M A CLOWN, BUT THIS CLOWN IS YOUR NUMBER ONE FAN, HONEY!!!

P.S.,

BUT, ALSO INFORM HIM, THAT IF HE EVER... EVER DECIDES TO STEP AWAY FROM YOU, I'LL BE THE FIRST PERSON (AFTER ONE MONTH IN THE GYM AND ANOTHER MONTH IN A TANNING SALON) TO BE AT THE FRONT DOOR OF FOX WITH A DOZEN RED ROSES, RESERVATIONS FOR DINNER FOR TWO AT A FIVE STAR RESTAURANT, AND RESERVATIONS AT A HOTEL THAT OVERLOOKS THE CITY!!!
BUT,... i'm sure your husband will NEVER allow that to happen. I'M SURE HE LOVES YOU SO MUCH!!!
He'll never let you go!!! You're TOO Precious!!! I'm sure he realizes this. That's why i view you only as my fantasy!!! But, I feel "Blessed" and "Lucky" just to be able to enjoy you in the way that I have over the years. And, I'm content, and very satisfied with that. That's how much you mean to me. G.D.L.A could NEVER replace you!!!
