http://www.fakechecks.org/
This Web site is a central source of information and advice about business... lottery... and checking scams. NCL created the site in collaboration with the Alliance for Consumer Fraud Awareness, a coalition of consumer and business organizations, government agencies, and companies that are committed to fighting fake check scams.
It's rather humorous... my favorite is the guy with the beard who the site says is a "damsel in distress."

YouTube May Battle Copyright Challenge.
In a conference this week, Doug Morris, Group Chief of Universal Music said that “YouTube is a copyright infringer and owes them tens of millions of dollars”, this according to an Associated Press reporter. A Universal official said the company was prepared to file suit by the end of the month if a settlement was not reached.
--Commentary: Soon I think, lawsuits from music corporations will be a larger source of financial growth than the sale of their CDs.
Technology Quote of the Day
Internet dating has done more for putting people together than Mitosis, (Mitosis is a chemical process that divides and replicates cells.) with the slight exception that there are crazy people on the Internet.

Since Fox 35 doesn’t have a Technology Section, I guess I will have to do...
New Dual-Format DVD.
Toshiba and Memory-Tech, teamed up and developed a three-layer optical disc that can read both sides of the DVD. Of course the savings on this is, instead of using two $1 DVD’s you can use 1 - $4 DVD-R. This will be good news for computer departments that use DVD’s to archive company data to disk… even better news for people that illegally copy movies.
Millionaire Pirate gets 7 years in Prison
Don’t worry ladies, Johnny Depp is safe. Nathan Peterson however, of Antelope Acres in California will pay 5.4 million dollars in fines and serve 7 years in prison for software pirating. Mr. Peterson pleaded guilty for selling phony program from his website starting in 2003 until he was arrested in 2005.
Apple Ready to Debut Movie Downloads
Apple Computer is expected to enter the market for digital movie downloads Sept. 12 with a highly publicized "It's Showtime" product introduction at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater. Apple will expand on its success with the iTunes Music Store, as well as renew the iPod line, perhaps with a widescreen video iPod, predicted one analyst.
As Internet bandwidth becomes faster, the demand for downloadable movies and video become more in demand. Soon, cable movie channels and places like Block Buster may become obsolete.

My daughter said that Steve Irwin’s death was like hearing a friend had died. I think as we all watched him, we wondered if one day we would hear this horrible news. In fact, I once heard him say if something ever happened, the first thing people would say is: “I knew it. I told you that was going to happen.” He just laughed it off.
My heart goes out to Steve Irwin and his family. We lost a friend.
