Gas Guzzling Blues -- Douglas Chick

I have an Infiniti FX 35 that gets 18 miles a gal, and Land Rover that gets 13 miles a gal, and a Jeep Cherokee that get around 17. The Infiniti is the best of the 3 on gas, but at 18 miles a gallon, at near $4 a gallon, I may as well drive a Sherman tank.

(This sounds like a country song, doesn’t it?)

The SUV trend that saved the American Car makers is quickly sending them to the grave. Because dealers are offering little for a SUV trade in, (because they can’t get rid of them) the remaining value leaves you upside down on your car loan. This balance is then placed on top of the already over priced fuel efficient cars loan, combined, you really don’t save any money.

Will the high price of gas put the final nail in the American car maker’s coffin, or force them to be more fuel efficient?

...not withstanding, why are all the hybrids so damn ugly?

“Been driving long, or just read about it?”

That is the comment I mumbled to myself after I watching a car cut across me and then two more lanes of traffic to make a right turn.
     "
Illegal aliens are not the only people they shouldn’t give driver license." I continue mumbling to myself as I drove down 436 toward Altamonte Springs.

"I hear talk that about proving your U.S. citizenship before you can get a driver license, you should have to prove your driving competence."

No sooner did I think that, I then cut right out in front of someone who called me an idiot. “I need to learn to drive too.” I mumbled.

It is not difficult to understand why Orlando is named the “Angriest city” in the U.S.; you only need drive 436, or I-4. Even in the movie theaters I am 2 cell phone calls away from making national headlines for being the “Angriest Man” in America. In addition to the heat, high gas, and insurance prices, the war, and terrorist; Orlando has the uniqueness of a multi cultural community that seems to recent each other tremendously. I see this ever more present at my daughter’s school. So if I had to put it all together, I would say that Orlando is the angriest city in America, because…

Inconsiderate drivers, multi cultural differences, the war, terrorism, high fuel cost, out of control insurance companies, bike week, tourist, being labeled as a corrupt voting state, people that talk on their cell phones in movie theaters, while driving, in grocery stores, at work, and in restaurants…while pumping gas, watching you pump gas, during a conversation with you and someone on the cell phone at the same time and…

You know, maybe the problem is just cell phones? After all, what are these people really talking to each other about? If you listen, they are usually complaining about how inconsiderate others are.
