Hi friends...this week we're getting back into serious mode...so as some of you may already know I am a big advocate for the rights of the developmentally delayed.  As the sibling of a disabled brother, I get it, and know firsthand how enormous the struggle can be.  As such this week, I am urging you to help a Torrance mother of a special needs 15 year old boy who sadly ( and to my outrage!) was raped in a school bathroom...this mother needs to reach out to other special needs parents whose son/daughter has been sexually abused and/or has issues the disabilities commission should KNOW ABOUT and DO SOMETHING ABOUT  The opportunity is here, so let's get the word out there please, the disabilities commission will be taking testimony from families with all types of concerns for their disabled child/adult...it's taking place next week...please help spread the word here is the info families need!!!...

When: Thursday , May 24th,  2007 *9:00 AM - 1:00 PM *

Where: LA City Hall 200 N. Spring St. L.A., CA 90012-- inside Rm. 350 Public Works Room ***entrance is on Main Street

So, do you know anyone?  This is a reminder that we as a community can help by being vigilant neighbors, classmates, shoppers (whoosh, I have seen things and stopped them or called the p.d. for help).  Remember, we are one community, regardless of religion, race, or creed.

Take care!

Why should anybody come forward to help? So Fabien Nunez, Mark Leno, and Jackie Goldberg can give the molesters preferential treatment? Honey, our society is falling apart as we speak, and you send out a call for decency? Sorry, there are no laws anymore. NO HUMAN IS ILLEGAL. Get a clue! Why waste our time?

That's a stupid post. Honestly, there are those out there who at least try to give a BLEEP, and you write something idiotic like that? "No human is illegal" What does that mean?

Dope.

omg! df- please stop that. you are NOT helping!! Hey cmon- it is barely 12 and your already mad? stop confusing the issues. I just know you are a nice person. I believe and look for the best in people. why are you so angry?

Elizabeth, I have a friend whos child has a lot of problems at school. He is autistic. Would this fall under the same catogory? I know there are many different variations of a person being mentally disabled. I hope this mom the best. If there's anything else we can do please let us know. I pray to God that he take care of this family. And may the sick person that did this be charged and punished.

I'm sorry, but it is at times like these when, I DON'T GIVE A S*** WHO OR WHAT RACE OR IMMIGRATION STATUS YOU ARE! THIS IS MORE, MUCH MORE, DISGUSTING AND OUTRAGEOUS THAN ANY OTHER DIFFERENCE OF OPINIONS WE HAVE! THESE ARE THE THINGS THAT SHOULD UNITE US AS A COMMUNITY AND FORCE US TO PUT OUR DIFFERENCES ASIDE. TO ANY OF YOU THAT WILL USE THIS POST TO VENT ANY KIND OF FRUSTRATION OTHER THAN TO THE SICK BASTARD THAT DID THIS..... STOP! DON'T EVEN TRY IT. WE MAY NOT KNOW YOU, BUT GOD DOES!
THE ONLY ONE YOU WILL HURT IS YOURSELF.
HOW DARE ANY OF US NOT SHOW COMPASSION AND PAIN FOR ANOTHER PERSON WHO HAS BEEN HURT IN SUCH WAYS? IT IS BEYOND WRONG WHEN WE CAN'T COME TOGETHER AND TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER THROUGH HORRENDOUS ACTS OF VIOLENCE. WHEN IT COMES TO SOMEONE BEING PHYSICALLY HURT- THERE ARE NO LIMITS TO WHAT WE SHOULD DO FOR ONE ANOTHER. STICKS AND STONES PEOPLE! THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. REMEMBER WE HAVE ONE THING IN COMMON----
WE ARE ALL ALLL ALLLLLLL HUMAN BEINGS!!!!!!!!!!

Hello ELIZABETH I have a son with CEREBRAL PALSY he was never molested but he has been abused in school and the whole scool system let us down by not investigating the teacher so i pulled him out of school for 4 years my son has an ayyorney that did not even try to do one thing about the situation . We have a new attorney for my son but he ried to accuse us of being neglectful parents because our son was not in achooland tried to take him from us. it is very sad to say but there are no rights for the disabled we have tried so hard tp get help in getting rid of these so called people who are supposed to be here for our son but the system DOES NOT CARE. My son is a beautiful person but needs 24 our care by me and my husband . I put him back in school 2 years ago and THANK GOD he has a wonderful caring teacher now. his old teacher had so many complaints against her that they removed her and put her in a classroom setting where they could watch her but that school they put her in does not allow the parent in the back to surprise check the teacher or entire school without them announcing the parents arrival. special schools are sooo bad they hide so much . i live here in the high desert so i cannot make it to the meeting but let me know what i can do from hre . GOD BLESS YOU FOR YOUR KIND HEART. THANK YOU

what kind of sick person would rape a kid? not only a kid but a disable kid at that? that is just wrong.

the world is falling apart because of people like df. instead of trying to help, they rub salt in a open wound. all lizzy is trying to do is to make this city/state/world a better place for all of us, and you say that it's a waste of time. df your just as bad as that person that raped that kid.

i hope many turn up to support this family that is in need.

(reguarding your last blog.)

Now I really want to see an old school pic of you with short hair. You totally have to put one up for all of us to see.

As for your teen years. I was the same way too. Still am. I even got the drunken comment too, but it was because I was drunk at school. Not my fault.

The day before my sister bought a whole mess of mike hard lemonade. She told me that I should try it, it's like lemonade and soda mixed. Well I love soda. It tasted ok, and their wasn't anything else to drink. Next morning I wake up and got dress for school. Then I remember that it's a late start. So I sat down, watch good day L.A. for a while. I never eat breakfast but I had time to drink while I watch TV. Then I saw the mikes hard. So I drank like 10 of them within like 10 min. I was so messed up when I showed up to school. I never drank alcohol before. So I didn’t know I was drunk. When I got home that day, my sister asked me what happened to all of the mike hard. I told her I drank them. She asked me when. I told her before I went to school. Then she was like "you know it has alcohol right?" and I was like "no". You said it was like soda. lol. Crazy story.

From what I could tell, Steve could kick Hal’s butt. No problem. If Steve’s dancing is any indication of what his fighting skills are, I’m sure he would no problem mopping the floor with Hal. Hal doesn’t move too much, and I’m sure there is a reason for it.

What station is across the street? Nope i'm not a reporter. I'm just a very curious person, that's not afraid to ask the tough questions (lol).

Elizabeth...my heart sank reading your post...how could his happen...I can't believe no one heard what was going on...and DF your post is an example of exactly what is wrong with this world...too many people have quit caring or are too afraid to get involved....fear is what Dictators use to stay in power..and is probably how this was able to happen to this Child...fear of getting involved. This type of crime is not just committed against children with disabilities, but many crimes like this take place against children. I remember being upset because the Principal of my children's HS wanted to leave the bathroom doors off after they remodeled the bathrooms, because of fear of this very thing happening. Something has to be done to identify the criminals in the schools and remove them. I think we need to start in the elementary schools and deal with the Bullies. Too many times the victims are asked to ignore bullies or change their behavior rather then addressing the bullies that are causing the problem. These same bullies grow up to commit more serious offenses such as what happen to this young man.

Elizabeth, I am not sure how you would approach someone regarding something so painful and private happening to them, but there must be a support group somewhere...hopefully this young man is receiving some kind of counseling and perhaps they may know of a support group.

I think safety is something we all need to start talking about regarding our schools. School should never be a place you have to fear going too, but for many children who are bullied and abused by other st

That is just so sad. My son is autistic and attends school in Torrance. I heard NOTHING about this. Can you provide or direct me to more information, such as which campus it was, what time of day, and so forth?

Sad more then sad this is sick.I say lets go on back to the old days, you know that oak tree on the lawn of the court house,we need to stop putting up all these scumbags, its a eye for a eye,why should tax payers have to pay to keep these people around? there is no use for people like this,it makes me sick

it's stories like this that make me wonder what happened to the good ol day's? I swear it seems like suddenly, one day, I woke up and all the beauty and goodness I had known in the world was gone.( the day I am refering to happened several years ago!!) I remember there was a time when kids could go to the park and play, day and/ or night, and there was no real concern that something would happen to them, or when I would sit down and watch the news and the reports were not all so damn horrific and depressing. These days all we read or hear about in the news is terrible people doing terrible things to innocent people. drive by shootings killing innocent people, sexual preditors, crime, crime, crime, and more crime.I can't imagine and honestly don't want to even think about where we will be as a society in 5 or 10 years. It sickens me to think that I am raising my two little angels in a world that something like this could happen to a child( any child!)Our children deserve so much better than we as a society are giving them. The devil has been busy !! He is constantly busy working his agenda through those people that are weak in their faith in God. I hope whoever did this is found and that this boy and his family can have justice. How do we begin to deal with all the absolutely unbelieveable problems ( that are becoming worse and worse by the minute) that we are facing in this world. I can only describe how it makes me feel when I think about this issue as completely oerwhelming and hopeless. How sad.

I have worked with severely disabled students at a high school in the past and it is hard but rewarding work. My opinion is that some people are timid or do not really understand the the approach to take towards people with disabilities. A lot of times disabled people are put aside as if there is no need for them. They do have feelings just like everyone else. When people stare, I'm pretty sure they are wondering how difficult it must be for them to get thru life on a daily basis. We all look and for different reasons. Who ever this twisted rapist is, he/she will deserve the consequenses coming. They better not be easy on this person. Take care.

Just pointing out the fallacy in their arguments. Sounds absolutely ridiculous, doesn't it? I do care! Anybody who takes advantage of disabled, mentally retarded people, or kids, deseve the Death Penalty. But, these people even oppose that.

Who opposes the death penalty? Not me. personally, I feel we need to tighten up the ropes(so to say)and be a little tougher . Having these convicted people sit in prision for 20 or more years because of appeals and whatever is not how it should work! Guilty is guilty, right? I can understand allowing them maybe one chance for appeal, but after that... bye-bye. Just like other people that are guilty of their crimes must serve their sentance...they should too. Death row... instead of hundreds of criminals would have only a few. Why should the tax payers have to foot the bill for these people? Why do they still have rights? Inhumane treatment? These people are animals(most of them)or they wouldn't be where they are at. Their victims were not treated humamely and what about their rights? Don't get me wrong...I believe that only God has the right to take a life, but if someone decides to kill someone else, they give up that right."Do unto others as you'd have done to you."

INHUMANE LAW? WHAT PART?
Under Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code, "Improper Entry by Alien," any citizen of any country other than the United States who:
• Enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers; or
• Eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers; or
• Attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact;
has committed a federal crime.

Violations are punishable by criminal fines and imprisonment for up to six months. Repeat offenses can bring up to two years in prison. Additional civil fines may be imposed at the discretion of immigration judges, but civil fines do not negate the criminal sanctions or nature of the offense.

Elizabeth,

How about using your expertise in writing and write us something about TERM LIMITS for State and Local politicians? That would be a little change of pace, yes? Appreciate it.

DfDeportation... I wasn't even talking about immigration!! Actually... immigration isn't even the topic being discussed on this blog! Seems to me that anytime I read one of your comments it is always about immigration. I agree that immigration is DEFINATELY one of the more important issues right now, but I would like to hear how you feel or think about the other topics people are blogging about. I sense that you are quite intelligent and I tend to agree with you most of the time. (most of the time, not always...)I look forward to reading your blog enteries whenever I notice you have responded. Hopefully we will be able to exchange opinions on issues other than immigration in the future. Have a good evening!!
