OK...I listened to Jim this morning... 50-60% chance of rain this afternoon/early evening!!  Thundershowers.  Downpour.  Hunker Down!!

So, I left the Harley (which I washed this morning) covered in the garage, and drove my gas guzzeling pickup truck from Deltona to Orlando.  I now sit at my desk, looking out the window at clear, sunny skies.  I check the Fox 35 weather radar...not a drop of rain around!!

So, I think it's only fair that Jim pay me for my gas for today...round trip, Deltona to Orlando, Dodge full size pick up,  vs the fuel saving Harley.

So, difference is gas used, pain and suffering not being able to ride the bike...I think $100 bucks will do it.  Need my address????    (I'll settle for a gift certificate to Ruth Chris for 2)

:)

ps...can I ride tomorrow?????

Expecting other people to pay for the decisions you make, like owning more than one vehicle, and a fuel-inefficient one, to boot -- doesn't sound very Republican! Guess everyone's wanting to cry "victim" and looking for "socialist" handouts across the board nowadays... Be thankful for what you have while others make do with far less, with no less work.

In fairness and me being all over all the weather men at all the stations, he did say the coast would have more rain this time. I do laugh at the Predictions over 12 hours out..... It makes me go nuts when I see that in Florida especially since too many influences affecting the weather.

I go really nuts on 5-7 day predictions..... that is never ever ever correct. They got to stop that.

But finally Daytona had rain in the last two days with nothing in the last month.

This at 533 am Wed

first off, i can feel your pain on the gas prices. i have a large truck with NO option right now to help out and save money.....now the for the fun of addressing your blog!

it actually rained THREE different times in deltona yesterday. amounts were not that much, and each time only lasted a few minutes, but literally just a couple miles to the east it rained over an inch.

i said 50% - 60% coverage and of the 12 counties that i forecast for (basically from gainesville to vero beach)....and i am happy to say that it was right on. that is about how much of the area got rain yesterday. it just so happens that you must have been gone from deltona when it happened, but it was there.

also, if you were watching and recall, i said when it is NOT raining it would partly cloudy and very hot....so i am having trouble which part of my forecast was incorrect to where i need to pay gas money? i never said it wouldn't be sunny, or that it would be an overcast dreary day? so i am confused....

lastly, i would never say "hunker-down"!! i didn't do it in 2004 and i WILL pull my toe-nails out with pliers before i say it....what a dumb phrase don't you think? how does one "hunker down" anyway.....do you walk around crouched down on your knees all through the house? sheesh!!

in all seriousness. the forecast was right on....but a lot of times people slam us because it did not rain on THEM or they did not SEE rain. it was out there....melbourne airport got .76" of an inch yesterday.

that is the delicate balance we strive for on tv. i want you to feel as though i am talking to onl

y you.....when in reality it is actually 3.3 million availible households (according to neilsen).

it is the same response i get when i forecast a 30% coverage and someone says "i thought it wasn't going to rain today"....no i said there would be a 30% coverage, and you were the ones who got it today.

the forecast was not wrong, i think the understanding of the foercast was wrong. i am not trying to be funny or rude, in fact i really am for a moment trying to help here.

i have seen it year after year, over and over. a lot of people really don't understand the forecast and i am always striving to make it as easy to understand as possible. let me know anyway i can help you and i would be glad to listen and do my best!

take care,

jim

Boy Jim, that was an awful lengthy, back-pedalling, ring-around-the-rosie answer, if ever there was one! Are ya gonna pay the man, or not? He has toys to buy, ya know!
Just throw me another CD, the next time I see ya in concert, and I'll do your next forecast!

Now you all leave JIM alone.
You should hear all the men that come into my store for BEER and I always give them a hard time about the time of day they buy beer and they will surely say...."It's BEER THIRTY somewhere.
Well JIM gets the weather right....It's a beautiful sunny day somewhere in Florida and it's RAINING somewhere in Florida...so go ahead Jim...you'll ALWAYS have the weather RIGHT if you use this logic. LOL

truthguys....yet another slam from you. if you are so sure that there is an issue then let's you and i go for a little one on one and see how you stack up against me....name when and we will see #1 how wrong you are about my forecasts, and #2 that you couldn't forecast dark. come on now with all of your slams i can get one in once in awhile.....oh yeah, and we will be doing the ENTIRE 7 days cowboy!!

deborah....hon, that was NOT backpedaling. just got on a rant trying to get some people to understand what we are really saying. if you think that was backpedaling then you missed my point. you can have as many cd's as you want though.

sipedo....yes it is the company you used to work for. i will admit i type all kinds of mistakes. sorry! we do get very frustrated with the entire "ratings" system because we have seen the people we are hanging our careers on with this ratings and a lot of the time they don't do a really good job of the keeping the diaries so we get frustrated that our entire future hangs in the balance on what is a lot of people doing a poor job with their diary.

Born and raised in Tampa, I'm a 5th generation Fla Native and proud of it! My mom raised 6 of us by herself, in a time long before welfare and food stamps. She worked 3 jobs, which is probably where I learned my work ethic and my distain for people who are too lazy to work and "expect" their welfare checks and food stamps year after year, generation after generation! I spent over 20 years in the Air Force, going in during Viet Nam and leaving after Gulf 1, and have a son currently in the Army preparing for deployment to Iraq. The loves of my life are my wife, kids, grandkids and the Harley (not necessarily in that order, but don't tell the wife, kids or grandkids)!! When not working on my second "career", I ride with a group called the Patriot Guard (patriotguard.org), attending the funerals of our heros who gave their lives for our freedoms. Most in our organization use our "personal days" or "without pay" to attend with permission of the family, and are proud to do it!! This group started because of people such as those at Westboro Baptist "Church" who began protesting these funerals with signs such as "thank God for dead soliders". NEVER AGAIN!!! Yep, I'm a right wing, conservative redneck. I don't like people using abortion as birth control. I think the ACLU is the worst thing that ever happened to this great country. I think 99% of the lawyers give the rest of them a bad name. I promise that if you come into my house in the middle of the night you will be carried out and buried. I think no one should be on welfare for more than 2 years during their life I don't think I should have to pay to support your kids fathered by someone whose name you don't know. I think every county should have a jail just like the Sheriff in Maricopa County AZ with tents and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I don't care if what i say offends you. I think illegals should be put on a bus and taken back across the boarder. I don't think I should have to press 1 for English. I think you have the right to burn our flag, but I promise you won't be successful if I'm around and don't care if I get sent to jail while your left-wing, liberal, Michael Moore, Rosie, Alec Baldwin America haters cheer!!!! I will PROUDLY go to jail to protect HER!!! If we disagree here, that's fine. You have to right to be wrong. I don't take it personal and hope you don't either.
