Folks, the Floridabrit is on a well deserved week off , so on Monday we decided to go to the beach .

It was a nice day there  the water was not too cold, and the fresh sea air was  wonderful

however ...

all over the  the sand - Ciggy butts.

absolutly nasty-  trying to build sandcastles- ciggy butts , trying to find a section of beach with  no garbage was impossible.

Now I not only blame the nasty slobs who use the beach as an ash tray but I NEVER saw ANY signs about   not  using the beach as an ashtray either so Cocoa Beach -please do something !

surely they can pull something behind a tractor on the beach to  filter sand from debri?

there was beer caps. Ciggy butts,  etc.

Anyone know of a beach where its not an ashtray?

well I'd much rather have that than the stuff that was washing up last time I went...over 5 years ago. there were feminine products and human waste...and I dont mean a little bit...it looked like someone cleaned out a porta-potty in the ocean. I have never much cared for east coast beaches so it is no loss to me to just not go.

That is what I was thinking Gorilla , most beaches are clean because most people respect them ...so I have to wonder where you where that they where so rude ? As far as the city sweeping or raking the whole beach that is lot harder than you might think and results in a very dramatic impact on a number of lifeforms that live in the sand as well as causing erosion (we tried it in Delray many years ago its a bad idea)

I dont know what beach you went to in Cocoa Beach but I go to most of them and have NEVER seen it the way you describe it. I might see a few butts on the ground but that is it.
Now lets talk about Orlando shall we?

I do smoke, but always have my but-can. Once, there were some young people walking around picking up debris, and they gave me a dirty look. I just held up my but-can. When we leave the beach, my family has always left it clean. I hate buts in my yard, on the streets and sidewalks, and especially at the beach. I can see why so many people hate smokers. Generally, they are slobs. If more smokers took a little bit of pride in their beaches/countryside, then there would not be so much negative legislation.
