I have posed this question before not only on these boards but to the NWS, also. And, to-date, no one has been able to answer this question to my satisfaction...

With the cold weather of late (global warming, don't you know), we hear a great deal about wind chill. It is pretty straightforward - at any given temperature and wind speed, there is a corresponding wind chill temperature. That, as we have been told is the apparent temperature to exposed skin. For example, at 28 degrees with a 10MPH wind, the wind chill temperature might be 16 degrees (just a guess - I did not look it up). This means 16 degrees with no wind.

Now the heat index is the apparent ("feels like") temperature taking air temperature and humidity into account. Another example - 93 degrees at 60 percent relative humidity might result in a heat index of 105 degrees.

NOW that heat index temperature is 105 degrees at WHAT relative humidity???

Is it 105 degrees at zero RH? Or is it 105 degrees at some nominal, "comfortable" RH such at 15 or 20 percent?

Paul, Dave, Howard, Andy, Jim...gentlemen, I'm counting on you to come through for me on this one.

Hey Thank God that "Global Warming" Thing was just a hoax the democratic scumbags made up to win our votes. And now we have the proof we have all been waiting on a "cold snap" (it's only friggin January I think we are due!) I mean what was it I heard on Paul's forecast just yesterday? OH YEAH! That it was the warmest December on Record(dating back I think to 1890's) One cold snap and we have all the morons convinced Global warming is the next Y2K. Take the blinders off fools. Out of sight out of mind only will get you so far in life. If you sit down sometime and do some thinking people. Common sense is a good tool to use from time to time! Think for yourself America. It's pretty cool. Turn off the TMZ and forget about what Britney or whoever this weeks flavor o'BLEEP is and live and think about your life and world!

Sorry, I just hate people who have an answer for things they know nothing about but are now experts because they looked it up once on the Internet on a Friday night after a wicked sweet game of Dungeons and Dragons or what ever it is the geeks do these days to avoid women.

LOL Sorry! I was just making a comment due to the subject or statements on this blog and the other one you had on global warming. And it just bothers me when people dismiss it so quickly. Or blame political parties.(And no I'm no left wing nut job) And think they now just what is going on because some hippy quack scientist has an off the wall opinion and post it online. So sorry I got a bit rude. It's just is annoying!

I am your normal, middle-class, "working Joe". But I am also a capitalist and believe that nothing good comes from socialistic entitlement programs. I believe in hunting down and killing terrorists like the little rats that they are (except that that statement is denigrating to rats). I grew up in a very conservative household and was fortunate enough to have had a conservative American Government teacher (a retired US Army colonel) who helped to show me the "right" way. Are there things that I would like to change? Absolutely. But NOT the kind of "change" being espoused by Hillarock Obaminton. I have lived in Florida for forty of my forty-eight years. I've been a big Pink Floyd fan since my teen years hence the moniker, FloydFreak. My friends call me Freak, Floyd, and FF. The libs call me a neocon. I wear that badge proudly. Please note that I enjoy engaging in spirited discussion - even with those with whom I disagree. There are a number of individuals on these boards whom I respect even if I DO think that they're out of touch with reality. Please note also that I do not tolerate personal attacks on my character. If you think that I'm full of BLEEP, you have the right to say so. But drag my character into the gutter and expect retaliation in kind with FloydFreak's own brand of sarcasm. Keep it civil and we'll get along fine. To those of you that see good in America and want the OPPORTUNITY for prosperity for all - and do not just seek to soak it to "the rich", I say God bless you. And God bless America!
