FloydFreak's Blog

Those of you that jumped all over me for the "GWB: Moron or Genius" blog of a few weeks ago, I have another logical dilemma for you. Yes, your old pal, the neocon, has another one for you to chew on - this one courtesy of my friend, Steve, yet another Alachua County conservative. OK, so here goes...

With Ralph Nader's announcement this week that he is running for president, the media are carrying reports that, had it not been for Nader, George Bush would not have beaten Al Gore for the presidency in 2000.

But wait just a minute, for the past seven years, all we have heard is how Bush "stole" the election and that, somehow, his brother, Governor Jeb was complicit.

So...what's it gonna be, lefties? Did George Bush "steal" the election of 2000 or did Ralph Nader "give" it to him? The way Steve and I see it, you can't have it both ways.

Steve brought up another good point: If Al Gore was such a highly-qualified candidate, WHY did Nader pull only votes for Gore? Our bet is that there were VERY few votes for Bush that went to Nader.

Thanks to Steve. Keep 'em coming, buddy!

BTW: Where IS Al Gore now that the news is out that the world is actually COOLING? Al? Al? Where are you, Al?

Don't forget, Katherine Harris was also complicit in the "stealing" of the Florida votes - not just Jeb! hehehehehehe

This one's gonna' be sooooo good! [throws on a sweater]

I thought Ralph was dead...wow, I guess he's one of those people who never die. Kinda like Bob Barker. Now that's a man I'd vote for. I dunno what his politics are, but I know by the time he left office, every pet in the country would be spayed or neutered!

The ONLY Independent to EVER sway a vote in the US was Ross Perot.

He single-handedly got Bill elected!

TWICE!!!!!

Nader has NEVER been any sort of factor, nor will he ever be. He just likes to keep his name in the news.

Whatever negligible effect Nader has had on any of the past elections is not the real issue. The votes he got were fair and square, just as a democratic election should be. Whether any of his votes caused one candidate to lose more votes than the other is irrelevent to the election process.

What IS relevent, is the disenfranchisement of targeted voters by caging or other illicit and unethical methods. This is the biggest threat to our democracy and continues on to this day. It's all right here for anyone who wants to open their mind and realize it:

As far as the Katherine Harris connection goes, yes, she played a large part, and anyone who thinks any of this is funny should be seriously questioned as far as their patriotism is concerned. A flashwave video on these facts, uncovered by investigative journalist Greg Palast, was created shortly after the 2000 election and can be found here:

Re the Katherine Harris comment I made - It wasn't meant to "be funny" bogotabro, merely a wry observation. It IS a relevant piece to the blame-factor of "stolen votes." Even YOU heard it in the media as such when it was being headliend and reported on...

You do not have to defend the relevancy of the matter. I took issue with the "HEHEHE" comment. I am getting the impression from this thread that this is all just some bogus, liberal-concocted tall tale created to whine about dubya "winning" the election.

Eight years and two elections later, we are STILL faced with countless voting discrepancies and incompetence. After eight years of the most corrupt administration since the 70's, (if not the most PERIOD), the potential of another thrown election looms large. Making light of it or pretending it's just so much leftist bunk is outrageous. Every citizen should be outraged at this, regardless of their political affiliation or how the corruption twisted the election results to their liking.

This is not the America I grew up in. You might expect to hear these stories coming from many other less democratic political systems in the world, but not here. As long as I still have my First Amendment right, I will continue speak out against repression and corruption, especially those that strike at the heart of our democracy.

Hey Bogota, Am I really supposed to put credence in the ramblings of Palast? I'm sure that HE doesn't have an agenda of his own, does he?

http://www.liberaloasis.com/palast.htm

The word "disenfranchise" wasn't even heard in American lexicon until the dems lost the 2000 election.

"Voting discrepancies" never seem to exist unless a democrat loses.

bogotabro - sorry the 'hehehe" offended you but on blogs, and the written word, the facial clues are not available that allow readers to interpret the TONE something is said in.

Sometimes wry humor is missed - and misinterpretted. Obviously you were bright enough to "get it" but there are(sadly) others who would need the extra clue.

Patience and understanding, ... nice to meet you though! :-)

Apology accepted and point taken, msbradley. I guess I have such a sore spot on this issue that I fail to see the humor even in a "wry" way. ;) Anyway, nice to "virtually" meet you too.

Oh really, Freak? Too bad you can't run that by early 20th century women and African-Americans. I'm sure they could respond far better than I could to that statement.

I also can't let pass the assertion once again that the Democrat lost the 2000 election. The candidate lost the Supreme Court case.

And I'm sorry, were we debating the journalist who exposed the corruption, or the corruption itself?

Just a comment... I don't think there is a country in the world today that was the same 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago and there won't be a country in the world that will be the same 10 years from now.
So we are all going to have to get used to change, whether for the good or bad, the only thing we can do is to stop radical politicains from giving a great country away for the benefit of their own deep pockets.

I though it was Christmas again, I was flying over a certain state at night when the pilot came over the intercom and anounced that passengers sitting on the portside (left) if they look out of their window they can see Al Gore's home, I thought it was a comet that landed it was so bright, guess Al installed his own electricity generating plant. He has taken a beating with global warming, global cooling, we may as well pick on him for his waste of global energy....

I am your normal, middle-class, "working Joe". But I am also a capitalist and believe that nothing good comes from socialistic entitlement programs. I believe in hunting down and killing terrorists like the little rats that they are (except that that statement is denigrating to rats). I grew up in a very conservative household and was fortunate enough to have had a conservative American Government teacher (a retired US Army colonel) who helped to show me the "right" way. Are there things that I would like to change? Absolutely. But NOT the kind of "change" being espoused by Hillarock Obaminton. I have lived in Florida for forty of my forty-eight years. I've been a big Pink Floyd fan since my teen years hence the moniker, FloydFreak. My friends call me Freak, Floyd, and FF. The libs call me a neocon. I wear that badge proudly. Please note that I enjoy engaging in spirited discussion - even with those with whom I disagree. There are a number of individuals on these boards whom I respect even if I DO think that they're out of touch with reality. Please note also that I do not tolerate personal attacks on my character. If you think that I'm full of BLEEP, you have the right to say so. But drag my character into the gutter and expect retaliation in kind with FloydFreak's own brand of sarcasm. Keep it civil and we'll get along fine. To those of you that see good in America and want the OPPORTUNITY for prosperity for all - and do not just seek to soak it to "the rich", I say God bless you. And God bless America!
