The wife and I went out for a pizza this evening (Saturday) to Satchel's Pizza in Gainesville. First off, Satchel's is the real deal - the best pizza in Gainesville, by far, and the best that I've had outside of a major metropolitan area, including Tampa Bay. That said, you probably know that Gainesville is a liberal mecca and Satchel's represents what may be the greatest concentration of libs in Gainesville outside of the University of Florida itself. Adorning the main entry door to the restaurant is an "Obama '08" bumper sticker which did not surprise us in the least.

One thing that struck us was the generally unhappy spirit that seemed to emanate from the place. Not only were the waitresses barely able to muster a smile but the patrons were a glib bunch, also. I even wore my Beatles t-shirt thinking that I might fit in more readily with this bunch. Exactly what is it that makes liberals such a miserable group in general?

I have seen mention of studies (I'm sure that a Google search would bring some up) that show that conservatives are far happier than liberals. Just why is that? I would think that the concept of "helping" the poor and downtrodden through the confiscation of assets of those that are productive members of society would make libs gleeful and jolly - but they are not.

Come on now, gang. Please enlighten me. Yellowdog - you're their best and most vociferous spokesman on these boards. Just WHY are your pals such a miserable lot? Will their mood turn to glee and joy next January when the patron saint of  "change" is inaugurated? I sure hope so!

I'm sorry Yellowdog hasn't gotten back to you. I'm afraid he's off crying in his beer because I wouldn't 'admit' that Bush is a criminal.

However, fortunately for you, I'm here to save the day. Why liberals are so miserable:

1. Ted Kennedy is in the hospital. While they are relieved that he is going to make a full recovery, they are desperately working on a BS press release to explain how their socialist health care system will be as effective for each of us 'victims' even though we won't have a helicopter parked in our front lawn to take us to the hospital when we suffer from a bad case of gas. Equally as difficult is how to explain why no fraction of this care was taken to save ??

2. If Obama gets the nomination (let alone elected), blacks (oops...AA's) won't be able to claim they are being suppressed. repressed or enslaved any more. This is particularly troublesome because the alternative is a woman that presents a similar predicament.

3. They control the House, the Senate and the Supreme Court and they still can't seem to make a strong enough case to impeach Bush.

4. The war in Iraq is going so well that by the time their candidate gets to take office (assuming a D win), the troops will be ready to come home anyway.

5. Iran really is building Nukes and they can't figure out how to spin the facts to transform Akmadinijad (I know I can't spell it, but I really couldn't care less) from psycho to savior.

6. They're having difficulty hiding the fact that even under the Bush Oil Regime there are presently 77,000 wind turbines under construction or on orde

(cont.)...under construction or on order in this country. At the current rate of installation, more than 20% of our electricity will come from Wind Power by 2030 - and the Dems can't assume credit for that.

I have a dozen more reasons, but I think you get the picture. :)

The ?? above was supposed to reference Mary Jo Kopechne, but I drew a blank on her name. For those that don't recognize that name, I suggest you read the Wikipedia articla entitled "Chappaquiddick Incident".

Why do "Liberals" appear Miserable and "Conservatives" appear Happy Go Lucky?

Perhaps it's because "Liberals" see the future of where our path is leading us and "Conservatives" mistakenly think everything is just peachy keen for the next 100 years?

It's just that liberals are perpetual pessimists and conservatives optimists, Moonie. I can't figure it out but that's sure the way that it seems - by and large, libs are depressing people.

If it was not for heartache and misery, liberals would have no reason to exist.

The liberals feed on failure and misery how do you think poverty pimps like Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson get to ride in first class.

I am your normal, middle-class, "working Joe". But I am also a capitalist and believe that nothing good comes from socialistic entitlement programs. I believe in hunting down and killing terrorists like the little rats that they are (except that that statement is denigrating to rats). I grew up in a very conservative household and was fortunate enough to have had a conservative American Government teacher (a retired US Army colonel) who helped to show me the "right" way. Are there things that I would like to change? Absolutely. But NOT the kind of "change" being espoused by Hillarock Obaminton. I have lived in Florida for forty of my forty-eight years. I've been a big Pink Floyd fan since my teen years hence the moniker, FloydFreak. My friends call me Freak, Floyd, and FF. The libs call me a neocon. I wear that badge proudly. Please note that I enjoy engaging in spirited discussion - even with those with whom I disagree. There are a number of individuals on these boards whom I respect even if I DO think that they're out of touch with reality. Please note also that I do not tolerate personal attacks on my character. If you think that I'm full of BLEEP, you have the right to say so. But drag my character into the gutter and expect retaliation in kind with FloydFreak's own brand of sarcasm. Keep it civil and we'll get along fine. To those of you that see good in America and want the OPPORTUNITY for prosperity for all - and do not just seek to soak it to "the rich", I say God bless you. And God bless America!
