A story almost always has a beginning, a middle and an end. 2007 brought with it many big beginnings-middles and ends, but one story just chugged along like the beginning never got to the middle. I'm talking about the race for president. For whatever reason it seems to have gone on since I was in Little League!

So, now it's that ever-so-special week between Christmas and New Years and we are literally just days away from the Iowa caucuses. For those of us in Southern California, Iowa seems a long way away!  But media has given us a front-row seat to the cornfields and the town meetings.

The question:

To what extent will what happens in Iowa affect the way you think, the way your vote?

There are people who say it seems odd a few could influence the nation.  But that's the system.  Caucuses... primaries... Super Tuesdays ...

It starts, though, with Iowa and - let's face it - for a time it looked like Iowa was going to go Romney's way because he put so much into that state.  Now, there's Huckabee.  Are you influenced by Iowa?

I never understood why Iowa and New Hampshire were such big deals when it came to primaries. Honestly, who really cares what goes on in two of the nation's smaller states? I guess if you're a candidate and you have a really poor showing there, you shouldn't think that you have a shot at the nomination. But we'll know who the real contenders are after the Super Tuesday primaries which includes California in February.

Hal,

This race is going to be hard to predict, isn't it? I don't allow other caucuses such as Iowa and New Hampshire to influence my decision. I hope you find it interesting Hal!

By the way, I've been giving notice to people about a public affairs program that KBRT AM 740 was getting ready to air: our show host Paul McGuire had interviewed former Whitehouse Aid Kathleen Willey about her book Target: Caught in the Crosshairs of Bill and Hillary Clinton. The public affairs version will air at 1:00 PM on Saturday & Sunday 12/29 & 30/07. It is a bit short of 30 minutes. If you are not near a radio, but have internet access, you can hear it on KBRT740.com.

Happy New Year Hal!

What may be even more telling than how wrong Hillary got Pakistan is the fact that none of her Democrat rivals have called her out on it. She made her remarks in a high profile interview on the last Sunday morning before the Iowa caucus. It’s now Tuesday. Where are the Edwards and Obama camps to criticize her for getting everything on a vital story completely wrong? It’s reasonable to assume that none of the experts in either camp are even aware that Hillary is so disastrously wrong about the hottest foreign policy story of the moment.
It’s just like when Dhimmicrats try and quote the bible. Inevitably they screw it up because they haven’t the foggiest notion what’s actually inside the pages of their dusty scriptures.
