Tis the season to burn money.

I'll admit.  I like a good fireworks show as much as the next guy.  I even like sitting on my curb watching the neighbors set off  fire works.  What I don't like is doing it myself.  I don't like burning money.  When I buy fireworks I feel like I'm just burning "Benjamins".

That's why this year like every year... I will sneak a free peek and hopefully no one will complain.

I will however burn a couple bucks on sparklers.  I'm not a total party pooper. I like my kids to like me.  Plus I like to write my name with them.

Happy 4th and God Bless America and the right to burn money if you want to!

How about you - will you be burning money this weekend?

Happy 4th. This is the first year that I've spent so much on Independence Day. I hate going out, so since I like fireworks, I'll just do them at home.

toddt- I feel the same way about food. You buy it and it goes by by. I like something to show for my money. Then I feel less bad about spending it!

Independence Day.....

Too many Americans really forget what this is all about. I like your thoughts Heidi that atleast in the USA we have the RIGHT to burn our money if we want. The core of what you're saying is DEAD ON.

INDEPENDENCE. Something we as citizens are losing more, and more of each day.

Just imagine. It was only last week that the Supreme Court ACTUALLY HAD TO VOTE on our second ammendment right to BEAR ARMS.

The simple fact that they even had to THINK about it shows you that BIT BY BIT, we as Americans are losing our individual rights.

Just as we had to fight for our independence against England, believe me, WITHIN OUR LIFETIMES, we will have to fight our own governemnt for the same reason.

Government has become TOO BIG, AND TOO CONGESTED. Only the Government has rights.

The government is no longer FOR the people OF the people, and BY the people

INSTEAD, Our government is for ITSELF, and what it THINKS is best for the COUNTRY. They act as if the country is a completely different entity than the PEOPLE of the country

THE PEOPLE have no voice anymore. Just take a look at the Electoral college VS. the popular vote. Bush vs Gore is a prime example. I can't stand repubs, or dems.

OUR INDEPENDENCE...... It seems our biggest threat to our own independence are the people we put in power to protect it.

Have a great holiday.

Nice way to celebrate our independence. I will not blow my hard earned dollars up, but I'll watch you do it. Please be careful if you have a fire works show in your neighborhood. Bottle rockets can get stuck in someones screened in pool area and on roof tops that may have pine needles. DO NOT TOSS a fire cracker near someone, it could hurt someones hearing and leave them with a permanent ringing in their ears. Go in an open field away from homes and traffic.
Happy Independence Day to everyone.

I love setting off fireworks, I just don't like *buying* them. :P

As the great Red Skeleton once said (as Freddy the Freeloader) "You know how money talks... all mine ever says is bye bye".

By the way, I've posted a blog about Orange City holding a fireworks show on the 5th of July. Here is the info below in case the blog gets shoved into the archives again...

=============================
With all the news going on about how city after city is cancelling their fireworks displays, I thought I'd pass on some good news for once.

Orange City is holding a "fireworks extravaganza" on July 5th. No, that's not a typo... July 5th. Don't ask me why its not on the 4th, I don't make the rules. Just be glad they're doing this on a Saturday.

The event will take place in Valentine Park, which is located at 1595 West French Ave. This is West of of S. Volusia Ave in Orange City. Basically, you just travel North past Ohio Ave. until you see French Ave, then take a left. Then travel straight until you reach Valentine Park. That is, if I'm reading MapQuest right. Well, I'm terrible at directions, so you may want to MapQuest it for yourself...

Anyway, the advertisment claims there will be "FREE Childrens Games, Inflatable's and Entertainment as well as a DJ with Contests and Prizes", as well as food vendors. The event will be from 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm.

Who knows? Maybe we'll run into each other!
===============================

Just thought I should pass that on.

PattieP- I'm not trying to be rude or say it's wrong if that's how you spend your money. I just can't make myself spend money on fireworks. We all have little quirks this is mine. If spending money on fireworks makes you happy... then by all means buy the entire store.

I will however have my flag up. My kids will be dressed in red white and blue. We will talk about this great land we live in... our rights and our obligations to keep it free.

Happy 4th!

P.S.
In the end I am paying for fireworks. My taxes pay for them :)
