JackTrade's Blog

I will be brief and to the point.  I ordinarily do not give autobiography in my blogs, but this time, I feel compelled to do so.

I was born with cerebral palsy, and as a result my early life was made miserable by others who ridiculed and mocked me.  I was too weak to defend myself, and  was beat up and bullied many times in my early life, and there were days when I did not think life was worth living.  When I was in school, teachers refused to help me with bullies, except for one instance.  My father tried to get a neighhbor to get his son to stop bullying me, but the neighbor just walked away.  For six years, I endured his son's bullying, at home and at school.

A huge mistake was made in my education when i was in Junior High (now called Middle) School.  The administraton put me in a special English class which was too easy.  It was a class for people with mental retardation and other handicaps.  I am not mentally retarded at all.  As English was my bast subject, to this day I have no idea as to what they were thinking.  I was deprived of a good foundation in grammar .  It was years before I was able to undo the damage they did.

I have had some success in my life.  I hold a Master's degree from Temple Baptist Theological Seminary  in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  I have written songs and essays which I trust have inpacted lives.  People tell me I have done good in ways I don't even know about.  I have had a modest influence for Jesus Christ and His Church.  That is the ultimate in success.

I did not get there by whining and demanding apologies from everyone who hurt me.  Nor did I demand an apology from families of people who were mean to my great-grandparents!  I hope this helps people see how ridiculous it is for blacks to demand an apology for what went on 150 years ago.  After all, there is no one left alive who were involved in enslaving anyone.  I certainly did not.

The Legislature apologised.  I hope it helps people move on.  What is done, is done.  Please people, get a life!

I am part German so I guess I should apologise to every Jew that I meet even though my Grandfather fought the Germans in WWII.
It just goes to show that the politicians are more worried about keeping the cushey jobs then doing the states real business like keeping taxes low and protecting the citizens of this state.

Im not apologizing either, when I was a boy there were times when we ate wood and leaves to survive.
Today people are bought and sold everyday as a commodity, and there is not one white person involved in any of it. You will never hear a word about that.

The final goal of any such dialogue is to achieve equality at every level in our daily lives for every productive American citizen. This can and is happening with opportunities opening that never existed before. Anything that distracts from this pursuit is ruinous to your future.

"Keep your eye on the prize" of the sweet rewards from personal success. Then doors will open to you that you never dreamed possible. Never let a person consumed with hoplessness and despair lead you away from your plan for a better life. They are the only certain losers and their "misery loves company."

What most people do not realize, or fail to realize, is that the "blacks" have their African relatives to blame. Many of the slave traders in Africa were black. Tribal leaders would "sell out" to "whites" in order to get rid of rival tribes, or sell their own wives and children for some trinkets. They even took other people to be their slaves.

So stop blaming the US for your problmes... blame your own people!

We all bring a lot of problems on ourselves. Does this mean we owe ourselves an apology?

May I remind everyone that every society in the history of world civilizations participated in some form of slavery. The United States was the first government to abolish human slavery as a recognized legal industry in 1863 (Emancipation Proclamation). This had nothing to do with "race" whatsoever but all forms of human bondage.

The Black race [in the U.S.] was the principal source of man power in the slave market, thus became the "principal" focus of liberation. No one group (ethnic or otherwise) has an exclusive claim to former human bondage.

I believe Great Britain abolished slavery in 1833, three days before its great Abolitionist leader William Wilberforce, died. Britain did it a generation before America.
