It was bound to happen. Jean Martirez has finally caught up with the 21st century.

In this space, I open myself to any questions, comments, or constructive criticism that cross your mind.
Don't just write about how you didn't like my hair or the color of my blouse today (I've got my mother for that!).
I welcome your thoughts on the news of the day, maybe a story that needs telling or your favorite place for shoes.

Speaking of shoes-- when I'm at DSW or buying toilet paper at Target, maybe gassing up at the corner Shell station, these are the most common questions I get.

Question #1 "What time do you get up in the morning?"

My first alarm clock goes off at 2:40am. Sleep walk across the room, hit the snooze button. I don't get up.

At 2:48am, my second alarm blares from the other side of the bedroom. Hit the snooze, don't get up.

Two minutes later, the first clock goes off again at 2:50am..followed by the second clock at 2:58am. Okay, okay. I finally get up, because I have a 27 minute commute and my makeup/call time is 4:10am. On the air at 5 o'clock.

Question #2 "Where are you from (what's your ethnicity)?"

My parents are both from the Philippines, though they met in Chicago where I was born.
Like many Filipinos, I also have Spanish and Chinese blood in the family line.

Question #3 "How can I get on Ask the Expert?"

Put your suggestion here for our popular Friday segment! People have given me names and numbers of their podiatrist, dentist, even dog trainer. We look at everything sent our way. We're anxious to share what you share with us.

Regular viewers of the Fox Morning News know I rarely have an unsaid thought. While I am already an open book (a double-spaced, big print, wide margin book--but a book nonetheless) here I can flesh out whatever may come up in our newscast. Feel free to sound off, too. I want to hear from you!

Hi Jean...I'm glad you are blogging..it's actually pretty entertaining. I'll take a shot at your questions...here goes nothig ;-)

Question #1: The days I work (12 hr shifts), my first alarm goes off at 4:50 am..then ofcourse I press the snooze and it goes off every 5 minutes after that until I decide to get up (5:05 am). My commute to work is about 20 minutes, so I can't complain at 5:30 in the morning...but coming home at 6:30 pm, the 105 East is pretty bad.

Question #2: My sister and I are first generation American-Brasilian...My parents are from Brasil, with a mixture of Italian, Portuguese and Native Brasilian Indian.

Question #3: Ask the Expert...not really sure what do ask here...so, I'll think about something for later.

well jean, it's nice to see you hear blogging. i always wanted to talk to ya in some form, and now i have my chance, and my mind has gone blank. lol.

i guess i have a few questions to ask you. if you talk to rick d. he would tell you that i already bombarded him with tons of questions.

i guess the first one is what happened to you a few months ago. you were off the air for a while due to a freak accident where your jaw was broken. how did that happen? i'm just curious to hear your side of the story. no one ever said how it happened.

the 2nd question is what is it like working with tony for all these years? when you first met him what did you think about him? how has your view of him changed now over the years? how did you feel when tony was hospitalized?

last set of questions, i promise. what kind of music are you into? what are your favorite films to watch? what do you do on your spare time?

well thanks for taking the time to read my questions, and just for being you. i'm always glad to wake up and see you,tony, and lisa b. on tv every morning. hmm, i still can't picture meeting you at a target, but then again i can't picture meeting anyone famous at a super market store either. well take care.

hello jean i so admire your work your witty and spunky. you make me smile everyday. my question is since around the time you went to asia a few months ago, i noticed your not wearing a wedding ring. i know you talk about him at times, so what is the reason? have a great day...

Hey Jean,
Welcome aboard. I usually wake up at 5:03 a.m. and automatically have my television programmed to your station.

Many things that I am interested in are, Gina's sexual hook-up's, people's opinions on the do's and the don'ts.

What does a person do when they are in an abusive relationship whether the person is a stalker, a fatal attraction or a 51/50?(SMILE, but seriously). I have seen so much of this lately and you can never imagine it happening to you or someone that you know.

Hi, Jean! I have a question for you. Last month when Jilian was talking about Valentine's Day she asked you if you celebrated it. You said something to the effect that every day was like Valentine's Day for you. Why is that? Do you not celebrate it? If not, why? Is it for religious reasons?

What types of food do you cook, or do you enjoy cooking?

How many children do you have?

I noticed that you really enjoy your job (SMILE)...

And HOW CAN YOU GET ON ASK AN EXPERT...you should be telling us (SMILE)...

I have my television automatically set for your station in the mornings 1)because I sleep with the t.v. on, 2) because many times I work nights and I can wake up to Rick Dickert if I have too, 3) even if I have to work from 11-7 or 7p.m. to 5a.m., I will stay awake until 10 a.m. then I usually pass out...

I also noticed that you and you MOTHER are very close (SMILE)...

What do you like to do for hobbies and entertainment...

I see why you and Tony can work together so well, you have a foundation that seems pretty grounded and are serious about a lot of things yourself...

I was born in Chi-town also, and this summer I went to visit my Aunt whom I had seen twice in exactly 30 years...I had to scrap up money to do so but it was worth the trip...I went there on the 3rd of July and stayed 2 weeks and then she passed away 3 days after her 76th B.day in December...I really enjoyed the little time that I spent with her in Chicago...she was a riot...we had fun an

and she had me driving all over Chicago. THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY...IS SO IMPORTANT...

I had an opportunity to meet relatives that I had not seen in 30 years and relatives that I did not know...even at her age she enjoyed life and I usually conked out before she did...she would laugh and tell me that I was older than she (SMILE)...Even though I had not had much contact with her over the years, we had contact with eachother through my father her brother...she had always instilled in me life values and the importance of family regardless to how you all got along...in 2 weeks time and after that she continued to enlighten me with more of life's values and I thank her for that with LOL...

I see that family values are extremely important to you also...

Even if it is the extended kin...(SMILE)....

Enjoy life and be happy...it is too short not to enjoy...

Hi Jean, I am asking myself what is a blog? I am sure my teenagers boys will know they think I am old especially in technology world!!! amazing on how times have change, I get up everymorning, Monday thru Friday to you guys, I watch the news every morning and my kids do to, they are informed somewhat what is going on in this world thanks to you guys we only watch for 45 minutes because we are out the door!

I can tell when you don't agree with a story or you have an issue but you hold back, and I know when a story means something to you, this is why I like to watch you guys make it real reporting. I know not everything you report is important personally to you but you have to its your job.like Tony too!!!

Yes, shame on me. I've been lax in getting around to responding to your comments.
Legs, thanks for the wrist slap. btw, when i broke my jaw in october, my mouth was wired shut! no solid food for a month. i lost 10% of my body weight. Hence, i could not wear my wedding ring. it kept falling off! i've since had it re-sized.
Saverdugo, glad you're out there w/your kiddos. You're so right, I find I have to hold back a lot on certain stories.
Samo, Tony and I are very close..from the beginning of our stint together, we've always kidded about how we should have a talk show and you'll get the real scoop on how we feel about some news items.
Godzgirl, how do you do it? aren't your fingers tired from all your blogging?
momma, i have a year round boyfriend in my husband, so i feel like valentines' day is everyday! i know--gag, huh?
rockie, what've you been watching? just this past week i went out and reported on phil spector's jury selection and a fatal wreck on pch.
Hmmm, did i get to everyone's question? i think, yes for the most part. I'll work on responding more expeditiously.

Jean I really enjoy you and Tony. You are both so positive and do your job so well. I turn it off at 7:00 cause Steve, Dorothy and Jillian all seem to hate their jobs and I frankly get tired of hearing it. Thank you for staying so kind to everyone.

HELLO JEAN... THIS IS LEGS. THANKS FOR WRITTING BACK. I DIDNT WANT TO GET PERSONAL, BUT YOU SAY YOUR A AN OPEN BOOK AS MYSELF. I AM A DOUBLE AMPUTEE AS I TOLD YOU,UNE ABOVE THE KNEE AND ONE ABOVE. I LOVE HELPING OTHERS IN THE SAME POSITION THAT NEED A LITTLE HELP IN COUPING WITH THIS TYPE OF THING. SOME PEOPLE JUST FALL APART AND DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. I SPENT A LONG TIME IN THE PHILLIPINES IN THE MILITARY AND JUST LOVED IT. I CAN STILL SPEAK A LITTLE BIT,WHEN I GO INTO THE VETERANS HOSPITAL. A LOT OF THE NURSES ARE FILIPINAS.
