I spent Sunday morning checking out the situation on I-75 at US 301 in Manatee County. Cranes have already knocked down most of the damaged bridge and construction crews were working vigorously on the crossover lanes. And there hard work has paid off!!
The Crossover Lanes are OPEN!!
Basically, I-75 north and southbound traffic will have to merge from 3 to 2 lanes approaching US 301..then I-75 southbound traffic will cross over the median, onto the northbound (good) side and continue across the bridge. A temporary barrier is up to seperate traffic. Once southbound traffic crosses the bridge..drivers will mere back onto the southbound side.
Keep in mind:
The speed limit is reduced from 70 mph to 45 mph in the area
Speeding fines are doubled in the work zone
Highway Patrol Troopers and other law enforcement will be controlling traffic
BE PATIENT and Good Luck!!

Hey everybody, it's Jen, your traffic reporter. I love working for Good Day, we have so much fun in the mornings! Since I am new to the area, i'm still learning the roads and the trouble spots. That's why I need YOU. I want to hear what drives you crazy...which intersections give you a headache, busy spots and construction zones in your area. And i'll help answer any traffic questions you have.
