Well it has been a couple of weeks since I wrote anything about the drought index and it was really getting severe across Central Florida and to our south. Yesterday's rain helped, but it is going to take many more of those to take care of the problem. The rain we had will only bring a temporary relief unless we get more soon. Looks like the next front that is heading our way will be a dry one. So keep your mind on water conservation and don't over water the lawn or water the sidewalks.  If you have just moved to the area then you are probably wondering what...wait a second I thought it rained every day in Florida....well this is our dry season and you will see our classic afternoon thunderstorms once we get into June. Just ask your neighbor about our storms in the summer and I am sure they will have a classic tale or two about it pouring down the street and sunny at their house or the lightning striking all around them.

Well, at least it helped our grass to grow.

To answer your question Howard, yes, it did help, but we need more rain.

I am a certified meteorologist at FOX 13, you can see my weather forecast every Saturday and Sunday evening at 6 and 10pm. Growing up I used to watch the weather and plot hurricanes along with the news and then try to make my own predictions based on what I learned. Along with my interest in weather I also like to travel and enjoy the outdoors. When I get away from the office I jump on my TREK, hit the trails and enjoy the outdoors.
