The officer in this video should be fired at once and also prosecuted along with everyone that was involved, nobody has a right to treat another person this way. This is a disgrace to the sheriffs department and the many good people that work there, unfortunately this is the kind of thing that sticks in the mind of most people. I also hate to hear race brought into this but you know that if all the tables were turned the likes of  Al Sharpton etc....... would be right here in Tampa Bay demanding that Justice Be Served ! so I feel that everyone has a right to and should be outraged and should voice their thoughts on this matter.

"Deputy Devil" is a very appropriate nickname for the idiot that dumped the man from his wheelchair. I am glad the Sheriff is not one to tolerate such disgraceful conduct toward the disabled. I agree that the officer who did this should be summarily fired and charged with criminal assault. That fat deputy who smirked into the camera should also be canned as well (in both senses). The fact that no one had the guts or compassion to help the man back into his chair immediately raises questions in my mind about the quality of the people running the jail.

I too was just sick to see this poor man get treatment like that. HE couldn't even fight back. NICE job of training there. I also want to say I log on to TBO and they are not letting all speak there peace on that blog. To bad when a web site blocks out our thought. SHAME ON THEM!!!

If a deliberate atrocious act of hate such as this can be caught on camera, what must occur that the public will never see? Only now are former detainees and prisoners divulging the heneous behavior of guards and authorities.

This horror is something out of a Steinbeck novel. The entire Hillsborough penal system must be purged of these satanic employees.

An "unidentified" woman at the Deputies home claimed she "was sure she would be cleared and had done nothing wrong" in a telephone interview.

That explains it all. How did she manage to work for 22 years and get good evaluations?

I cant beleive this officer could ever think she would be cleared of these actions, Its right there on tape, maybe she needs a mental evaluation as well as being fired and prosecuted. she should admit she was wrong, say she is sorry and take her punishment like the tuff guy she wants to be.

K1662, by bringing race into it, you are no different than Al Sharpton. You are making claims about someone's motives, when you have no clue as to why the guy did it. The video offers no context. Why make up your own? Try not to perpetuate the hate. It's media like this, that facilitates intolerance. Instead of posting hypocrisy, try condemning those like Al Sharpton... well and yourself.

Dear God, did you have to bring the devil into this?

"The Devil made me do it" could be the defense strategy.

Sharpton is recognized to be a bag of wind opportunist and is a disgrace to all people who seek justice.

But....bringing his name into the mix does smack of racism.

I'll tell you what, how about all you arm-chair Judges spend just one week dealing with fowl mouth, disrespectful, and down right nasty perps ALL DAY LONG, then come back with your heartless, "hang her by the neck" comments. She probably took a gamble thinking that the guy wasn't really paralyzed-- a gamble that lost her her job and may cost her her freedom. In my opinion, it was a $1000 response to a $1 situation. No doubt she snapped and this guy paid the price for her 22 years of pent-up abuse.

chaplain333 we all deal with people everyday that are obnoxious but we do so with out violence she had training and she knew the rules. maybe if she was that outraged with everything she should have worked in a job where she didnt deal with the public.and when you say $1 situation you sound like your related to her. maybe you both need counceling.

I did not make my point clearly. I apologize. The $1 situation is the daily situation. The $1000 response is the over-the-top reaction she had to this young man. And yes, she does need counseling. Someone should have seen the signs of her "build-up" a long time ago. The point I was trying to make is that it's so easy to judge what we do not understand. Until I or you have experience her job, we cannot bring character judgement against her. Judgement? Yes! She ought to be held responsible for her actions. Shred her character? I won't do that.

Have you read the Deputy's resignation letter? How can she lay blame on the man she dumped from the chair? For some reason she feels the need to be on the defense, if she was right in what she did, I don't feel she would be so defensive.

"Hang her by the neck comments"? She probably took a gamble? You never gamble with a person's life or disability. A person in her position knows better than to play guessing games.

K1662, I've heard many people bring up the race issue, naming Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

WHEN I FIRST SAW THIS VIDEO I WAS APPALLED THAT A PERSON THAT IS SUPPOSED TO SUPPORT THE LAW WOULD DO SOMETHING SO HEARTLESS TO SOMEONE THAT IS IN THE SITUITATION HE'S IN. BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD IT COULD HAVE BEEN HER IN A WHEEL CHAIR NOW. BULLETS FROM CRIMINALS CAN HIT ANYONE. CAR ACCIDENTS FROM A HIGH SPEED CHASE COULD HAVE PUT HER IN THE SAME PLACE HE IS. HOW WOULD SHE LIKE TO BE TREATED WITH SUCH DISPESPECT? THIS ISN'T THE WAY TO TREAT ANYONE OF ANY COLOR. WHAT'S RIGHT IS RIGHT AND WHAT'S WRONG IS WRONG NO MATTER WHAT THE COLOR. SHE DESERVES TO BE FIRED. THAT IS JUST WRONG NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!AND STRESS IS NO EXCUSE.

This video is really disturbing. Something else that really bothers me is that I've not heard anything from Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton on this incident. I wonder if the tables were turned and an african american was being dumped from a wheel chair by a white deputy would they have made a trip to Tampa to represent an african american. So I ask what does the ACLU represent? American Civil Liberty Union or African American Civil Liberty Union????
