Hi Everyone,

So as I was driving into work today I heard on the radio a clip from Ellen's Degeneres' show, where she talked about the nightmare that she is living. It turns out that Ellen and her girlfriend, Portia de Rossi, adopted Iggy (a Brussels Griffon mix) from Mutts and Moms, a dog adoption agency here in Los Angeles. But things didn't work out as Ellen planned -- her cats didn't get along with Iggy -- so she gave the pooch to her hairdresser, who has two kids, including 12-year-old Ruby.

The kids fell in love with their new little friend. They provided a loving home for a little guy who otherwise would have ended up back in the adoption agency. But things changed dramatically for Iggy, two days ago Mutts and Moms called Ellen to check on the pup she in turn told them the truth about the dogs new home. Then last night, a rep from the agency came to the hairdresser's home, claiming Ellen violated the contract by not informing the agency of the hand-off. The rep demanded to take the dog away. Ellen' s position -- yeah, she should have notified the agency, but she found a loving home and isn't that what counts? The agency rep stuck to her guns and removed the dog with cops present. Ruby is heartbroken; reduced to tears.

Ellen says, "I kept saying, 'If you want to be mad at me, be mad at me, but don't take it out on the family. Don't take it out on the dog.'"

Now I would love what you think about this story. I have volunteered at shelters in the past and many of these little creatures are never fortunate enough to be adopted into a home where they could experience a happy life.

Was it fair for Mutts and Mom's to remove Iggy? Not knowing if he will be taken care off at a new home? Did they act this way because Ellen is a celebrity? Please share your thoughts....

Hello everyone,

Happy Monday! So this week I found some great stories. The first one talks about what women want in a mate. I'm not talking about personality or anything else that the ladies may be looking in a perfect partner. I'm talking about what we are attracted to in terms of looks. It turns out, that since the beginning of Humanity we ( ladies) have been attracted to men who have pug like faces. You heard it right, pug-like, yes that adorable little dog that sports a tiny face. So it got me thinking, the first thing I did was to pull out old photo albums to see if any of the ex's fit the category and guess what as crazy as it sounds some did! I'm not quite sure if they would be happy to hear that LoL. I'm so intrigued to hear what you guys think after reading the article. For the ladies, do you think your honey looks a little bit like a pug? How about the guys, what you do think? Is the study accurate? Can't wait to read your reactions.

Next is a wonderful story about a dolphin who lost her tail and now phrosthetic specialist is working on getting her a new one. I love dolphins I think they are not only magical but they are also very important in society. If I hadnt become a reporter I probably would be working with dolphins.  Did you know that they have been used by the U.S. government since the 1950's to help vessels manuver around bombs. They have also been known to save humans who ahve fallen into the water from drowning so to hear that technology is helping them out i think is great. But some people were not so happy, a handful spoke out saying taht such technology should be used on humans not animals. What do you think?

Last but not least a family in Florida will be giving birth to sextuplets! Six little babies all at once...yikes! I cant wait to have babies of my own but six at once could be really overwhelming. Btw I really think that there must be something on in Florida, less than a month ago I read of another family who had quadruplets..... hmmmm?

Hope you guys enjoy and thank you so much for all your comments!!!!

Study: Men With 'Cavemen' Faces Most Attractive to Women

Guys with bulldog-like faces have been chick magnets throughout human evolutionary history.

A recent study of the skulls of human ancestors and modern humans finds that women, and thereby evolution, selected for males with relatively short upper faces. The region between the brow and the upper-lip is scrunched proportionately to the overall size of their heads.

Among the men who fit the bill: Will Smith and Brad Pitt.

In a past study, researchers found a similar facial pattern in chimpanzees, with males having relatively shorter and broader faces compared with females, controlling for body size. Men with "mini mugs" might have been most attractive to the opposite sex and thus most likely to attract mates for reproduction, passing along the striking features to the next generation and so forth, said lead study author Eleanor Weston, a paleontologist at the Natural History Museum in London. "The evolution of facial appearance is central to understanding what makes men and women attractive to each other," Weston said. "We have found the distance between the lip and brow was probably immensely important to what made us attractive in the past, as it does now."

While the scientists who authored the current study examined skulls and did not specifically study how modern faces fit the findings, the Natural History Museum press officers applied Weston's findings to a "quick and dirty" survey of photos of celebrities.

They came up with a list of stars with masculine faces, listing them from most to least masculine according to facial dimensions: Will Smith, Australian singer Peter Andre, Justin Timberlake, French soccer pro Thierry Henry, Brad Pitt, David Beckham, Johnny Depp and Kanye West.

Prosthesis Offers Hope for Tailless Dolphin

Clearwater, Florida---Winter, an 18-month-old dolphin, lost her tail after getting caught in a buoy line and has learned how to swim and play without it, but her adjustments may hurt her delicate spine in the long run if other options are not pursued. Prosthetic specialist Kevin Carroll travels the country tackling the toughest human amputation cases, so it was only natural that he was also drawn to Winter — the only known dolphin to survive the loss of her powerful tail flukes.

"My heart went out to her, and I was thinking I could probably put a tail on her," said Carroll, vice president of prosthetics at Hanger Orthopedic Group, Inc.

Recreating one of the most powerful swimming mechanisms in nature turned out to be a lot tougher than expected. But after months of experimenting, Carroll and a unique team of experts are well on their way to, as one of them puts it, "MacGyvering" a tail for Winter. Unlike the 1980s cult TV hero "MacGyver," who worked his way out of tight spots with everyday items, much of what Winter's team is creating is first-of-its-kind stuff. "We put together a team who doesn't know what 'no' means," said Mike Walsh, Winter's lead veterinarian and a program manager at the University of Florida's aquatic animal health program. "As long as you're willing to try, you can make a big difference."

Community  Throws Big Baby Shower for a Florida Couple Expecting Sextuplets....

( What would you do? )

Parents expecting to deliver the first sextuplets on record in Florida were showered with clothing, diapers, baby wipes and gift cards. Ben and Karoline Byler also received a year's supply of ready-made meals and baby formula, six months of in-home wellness care and a $7,000 generator for backup power at the community baby shower Saturday at Idlewild Baptist Church. Karoline Byler, 29, is expected to deliver sextuplets — five boys and a girl — at the Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg in the next few weeks. Karoline Byler, in the 28th week of her pregnancy, did not attend the baby shower because she is hospitalized.

"Karoline is doing very well and they're not going to let her go past 32 weeks with the delivery," said Ben Byler, 30. "Their brain development is done, their lungs are close to fully developed and we're right up on what they consider a good time for the babies at 30 weeks."

HELLO MY FRIENDS,

ITS THAT TIME AGAIN….YOU KNOW THE ONE -----“WEIRD NEWS TIME” So this week the odd, strange, funny, offbeat, or crazy, but true news stories in the USA and the world seemed to have a similar theme….animals.

So it got me thinking about the different pets people choose to have! We have done so many stories were people have decided to bring into their homes a pet that many wouldn’t consider the safest animals to live around. I’m talking about anything from cobras to small tigers! What ends up happening is that sometimes when their little friends become adults they end up well acting out on their instincts and their owners have no other choice but to give them up to the zoo. The stories you are about to read talk about the risks people take in order to well be closer to exotic pet!

So here is my question to you…..do you own any exotic animals that you shouldn’t have at home? I personally always have wanted to adopt a marmoset but I fear that he would get into a fight with my little Chihuahua and well as much as I want to give Yugi credit for strength, I have a feeling the little monkey would end up winning. Would love to hear your stories about wild animals, the ones you own or the ones you wish to own!

MADISON POLICE CAPTURE WANTED MONKEY ( THE MONKEY WAS WEARING A WHITE DIAPER)

MADISON, Wis. -

Authorities captured a diaper-wearing monkey who led them on a downtown search after biting a woman.   The 20-year-old woman reported being bitten on the thumb as she tried to pet the animal early Wednesday. The woman was walking by State Street Brats, a popular nightclub, where a man had the monkey on a leash inside its beer garden. People walking by were petting the monkey, who was wearing a white diaper.  But the monkey bit the woman, who suffered four small punctures on her thumb, police said.    The bite sent the woman to the hospital, where a physician said the monkey should be found so that it could be quarantined to determine if it has a disease.

MAN SMUGGLES MONKEY INTO NYC AIRPORT

NEW YORK -

A man smuggled a monkey onto an airplane Tuesday, stashing the furry fist-size primate under his hat until passengers spotted it perched on his ponytail, an airline official said. The monkey escapade began in Lima, Peru, late Monday, when the man boarded a flight to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., said Spirit Airlines spokeswoman Alison Russell. After landing Tuesday morning, the man waited several hours before catching a connecting flight to LaGuardia Airport. During the flight, people around the man noticed that the marmoset, which normally lives in forests and eats fruit and insects, had emerged from underneath his hat, Russell said.

"Other passengers asked the man if he knew he had a monkey on him," she said.

MAN NABBED TRYING TO BRING LIVE REPTILES ON PLANE

CAIRO (AP) — It was very nearly a real-life version of Snakes on a Plane.

A man was stopped at Cairo's airport just moments before he boarded a Saudi Arabia-bound plane with carry-on bags filled with live snakes, as well as a few baby crocodiles and chameleons. Security officials became suspicious of the 22-year-old Saudi man's bags when the X-ray machine at the departure gate gave odd readings. Police said they opened the bags and found a large number of reptiles, including at least one cobra, squirming to escape. The animals were confiscated and turned over to the Cairo Zoo and the man was allowed to board his flight home. Transporting live reptiles out of the country is illegal in Egypt, but the passenger said he was unaware of the ban and that the snakes, crocodiles and chameleons were needed by a Saudi university for scientific experiments, police said.

In May, another Saudi man was caught at the Cairo airport carrying 700 live snakes in his carry-on luggage.

HI EVERYONE,

THANKS SO MUCH FOR READING THE BLOG AND FOR COMMENTING. IT ALWAYS FASCINATES ME TO HEAR THE REACTIONS OF OTHERS BECAUSE SO MUCH OF OUR UPBRINGING AND OUR VALUES ARE REFLECTED IN THE WAY WE VIEW THINGS. THE REASON WHY I BRING THIS UP IS BECAUSE I WAS WATCHING A NEW SHOW ON NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CALLED “TABOO- INITIATION RITUALS”. IT DOCUMENTED THE MOST TABOO FORMS OF RITUAL AND INITIATION AROUND THE WORLD… IT WAS JAWDROPPING BUT YET SO INTRIGUING.

SO HERE I GO AGAIN BRINGING YOU SOME STORIES THAT TO SOME ARE STRANGE BUT TO OTHERS ARE……WELL, VERY, VERY NORMAL  :)

MAN TRIES TO EAT CLOTHING WHEN ASKED TO TAKE A BREATH TEST.

( Well this story proves that others besides Lindsay Lohan have done some silly things to get out of a  DUI : ) )

Police say a 19-year-old Ontario man who was arrested for suspected drunk driving used bizarre tactics when asked to take a breath test.  The young man first took out his contact lenses and ate them — and then tried to eat his shirt and socks.  When police tried to stop the man from devouring his clothes, a scuffle broke out, and an officer pepper-sprayed him

BREAST IMPLANTS LINKED TO TRIPLE SUICIDE RATE….

Women who have cosmetic breast implant surgery are three times more likely to commit suicide compared with women in the general population, suggests a new study of women in Sweden. The researchers said surgeons should carry out pre-surgery mental health screening and follow up monitoring of patients in receipt of cosmetic breast implants.

Catholic Priest Gets Caught While On A Naked Jog Near a High School- Get This His Excuse Was That He Sweats Too Much!

(Did he really think he could get away with that excuse? )

A Catholic priest busted in Frederick for jogging in the buff before sunrise has been placed on administrative leave. The pastor said he runs in the nude because his large size makes him "sweat profusely" if he wears jogging clothes, according to a police report. Whipkey said he'd jogged around the high school track in the predawn darkness because he didn't think anyone would see him at that hour.

Hi everyone,

I have to let you all in on a secret! One of the things I love about being a reporter is that when I’m researching my stories, I sometimes come across some offbeat and weird headlines. These stories often come up in conversation when I’m hanging out with friends and family. The reactions to these stories vary from HUH? to WHAT! SERIOUSLY…? YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING! One thing is for sure though the stories can crack a smile! So I’ve decided to make a weekly blog where I post some of the best and strangest stories I come across.

This blog will be updated every Monday so I hopefully I can make that 1st day of the work week a little easier on you!

WOMAN MAY GO TO PRISON FOR STEALING 3 ROLLS OF TOILET PAPER FROM A BATHROOM COURTHOUSE!
(As if jails weren’t overcrowded enough……)

In Iowa Police blame a woman who goes by the name “Butts” for stealing toilet paper from a central Iowa court house. The theft charge could put her in prison. CAT PREDICTS DEATHS IN NURSING HOMES
(Yikes…..Can you imagine, what would you do?)

Oscar the cat seems to have an uncanny knack for predicting when nursing home patients are going to die, by curling next to them during their final hours. His accuracy, observed in 25 cases, has led the staff to call family members once he has chosen someone. It usually means they have less than four hours to live.

(Does this mean vegansexuals would stay away from true love if that special someone happens have a tender spot for In and Out? hmmmm)

A new phenomenon in New Zealand they call themselves “vegansexuals” - people who don’t eat any meat or animal products and who choose not to be sexually intimate with non-vegan partners whose bodies, they say, are made up of dead animals.

Hi Everyone,

Well today was an amazing day, I had the wonderful opportunity to fly next to experienced pilots. We were not flying any normal plane but planes that were basically the backbone of the American effort during World War 2. The planes were huge and beautiful, but what really left me in awe was talking to the veterans! Their stories are incredible, all of the sudden you realize the risks that these men had to endure. I looked at them and was taken aback. It's amazing what other generations have done so we can take advantage of today's freedoms!

Plus how often can you fly over 1000 feet with the windows open? I was hoping a bird would stop by and say hello!

The coolest part is that anyone can fly in these planes, if you have a chance check them out, the planes will be here till May 1. I promise you will walk away not only knowing a little more about our history but also it will also be an experience of a lifetime....

check out the story on Good Day LA and the contact info for flights

Hello everyone!

Get ready, today at 5:07 pm will be New years all over again.....its time to celebrate Norooz pronounced "No Ruz" and its the most celebrated and cherished event in Iran and since we have so many Persian families in our communities it will be widely celebrated here!
So this morning I had the honor to meet a lovely family who welcomed Good Day LA inside their home as they prepared for this Holiday and they were able to explain to me why its such a special event... I don't want to bore you all, so I'll keep it simple....

The Fakhari family told me that anyone can celebrate it, this is not a religious holiday but a Spiritual day, it's a celebration of all people and it marks not only the first day of spring but also its a new day to celebrate and promote your own personal achievements, happiness and your progress. Its a day to forgive those who have done you wrong and to forgive yourself.

One of the traditions is to give money signed by you to all your friends and family, it doesn't have to be much a dollar will do, but the money is supposed to bring wealth in this coming new year.....

So I don't know about you but all those things sounded pretty positive to me so I think I'm going to celebrate New Years today and see how my friends and family reacts...he, he, he....too bad I don't have the yummy treats they had at the house this morning...oh well maybe Kettle popcorn will do!

If you'd like to check out the family and their preparations click here......... they were very sweet.................

and.............................Happy New Year.......

Hello everyone,

Today was a busy and sad morning on the the 10 freeway, I covered the story in which five people including 2 children lost their lives in a car crash in Ontario. When we arrived on scene officers were still investigating and Coroners had not taken the bodies away. I have to say that when covering stories like this one, where you come face to face with real people who no longer have a chance at life that I realize just how lucky I am to be ALIVE. I know it sounds so simple but once again it reopened my eyes and I sat down for a few minutes and wrote down all the things I'm grateful for...and some were as simple as the fact that "In and Out" makes the best burgers and I love them.... others were a bit more complex, like how grateful I am for my family, my loved ones and my job. I also picked up the phone and text messaged the people in my life that make it worth living and told them all, how much I appreciated and loved them. I wanted to share this with you because somehow I felt that maybe you (whoever may be reading this) could understand were I'm coming from.
