This is how bad it has become in this country under the neocons attempts to strip the public of their rights as they attempt to grab power. This student was asking a Presidential candidate a series of questions when the goon squad moves in. Events like these should open the eyes of all to how far from the "For The People, By The People" we have drifted under the neocons power grab. This is a disgrace, and something that you would expect to occur in Russia, China or North Korea. Is this what the young men and women of the armed services are in foriegn lands fighting for...the survival of the elite police state? (And for you neocons, Kerry wanted to answer the students questions, so don't try to put it off as a Kerry blunder!)

Student Tasered at campus forum for Kerry

GAINESVILLE, Florida (AP) -- A University of Florida student was Tasered and arrested after trying to ask U.S. Senator John Kerry about the 2004 election and other subjects during a campus forum.

Videos of the incident posted on several Web sites show officers pulling Andrew Meyer, 21, away from the microphone after he asks Kerry about impeaching President Bush and whether he and Bush were both members of the secret society Skull and Bones at Yale University.

"He apparently asked several questions -- he went on for quite awhile -- then he was asked to stop," university spokesman Steve Orlando said. "He had used his allotted time. His microphone was cut off, then he became upset."

As two officers take Meyer by the arms, Kerry, D-Massachusetts, is heard to say, "That's alright, let me answer his question." Audience members applaud, and Meyer struggles to escape for several seconds as up to four officers try to remove him from the room.

No belligerent attitudes allowed. I remember right after September 11th, when Ari said that now we must watch what we say and how we act.

Funny how they seem to last-straw this guy after he was silly enough to mention Skull & Bones. I'm sure it just appears that way.

Nothing to see here, move on....

War is Peace.

Step outta line, men come and take you away.

There is a fine line between being civil and aggitative. That fine line could be the difference between a peaceful demonstration and a riot. If you cross that line, the police will come in and take care of the problem. This student, who is in a journal class, lead me to believe that he has done this type of behavior before and was almost expecting to be tasered by the police. Everyone has the opportunity to speak and everyone has a time limit. There are time limits on debates among the candidates. This guys time was up and he refused to leave. His behavior is what led him to be tasered, nobody else can be blamed for that. He got what he deserved.

First of all..I seem to remember FAR worse examples of THIS sort of thing going on during the Johnson and Nixon years so to TRY to peddle THIS as something NEW is BEYOND ludicrous..

Just another example of the recent and STUPID Nazi harrange that's been going on here..

ALSO,,As I got the Gist of this "Staged" event,,HE had USED up his time and was ASKED to leave PEACEABLY but REFUSED..

I KNOW that YOU people THINK that Freedom of Speech trumps ALL else and SHOULD be a pass to commit ANY act whatsoever but he had NO right to violate the rules as set down by the promoters of this event..NONE....

hehehehehehe...... using that logic, I wonder if the moderators of the debates can do the same to those politicians who keep talking after their buzzer rings? Dance Politician Dance.... I might actually tune in for that.

First off, Hawk is right on the money (as always). I haven't seen the video but I've heard enough about it. Set-up all the way.

And second, AYFKM??? (Are You BLEEPing Kidding Me???)

Gainesville, Florida as a bastion of "neo-conservatism"? Surely you JEST! You're nucking futs!

Hey, I live in Alachua County. Gainesville is a big, bright blue dot in the middle of a sea of red. You can't get much more liberal that Gainesville (east of Berkeley anyway).

He "allegedly" butted into the front of the line to begin with (at least CNN reported that).

He exercised his right of civil disobedience and the police used what they considered to be necessary force to remove him. The taser was most likely a mistake since 4 officers had him on the ground.

Dr. King never bemoaned his numerous arrests since he was willingly breaking the law in order to change the bad laws into good ones.

When you break the law you pay the price. The arrest was necessary, the taser was probably not.

Who wins? Obviously the student has a 100 million person audience now for his views and the cops don't look so good. But they are not Jack booted thugs.

The most INTERRESTING thing that I found about the whole situation was that a Moveon.org type War Protester got himself arrested while harrassing a FORMER War Protester while HE ( Kerry) stood by and did NOTHING..LMAO..

NEVER trust a LIBERAL Even when they ACT like they're on YOUR side..And sometimes,,,EVEN when they ARE on YOUR side,,LMAO...

As a student at a major university in Florida, I can not begin to express my disbelief in what I have witnessed. Yes, my fellow student had a rude tone during the questionair. However, watch the video and observe the following. For one, John Kerry offered to answer his question. Does this not therefore imply that Kerry had full intentions on answering his question? A university is an opportunity for students to learn more about themselves and the world around them. Surely we do not want our fellow man to learn in an auditorium with fellow classmates yelling "Why are you doing this?" Is this the society that is to develop our fellow leaders? Better judicial aspects would have been better. But to taser a young man for posing a question to his government? Not the government, his government. We all have the right to question the world around us. I can not help but question wether the action taken was necessary. Wether or not the investigation prooves he is liable for his actions or not, the university police took excessive force on the man. In the end him screaming "Let me walk myself out, please," and to then be tasered? Is enough for me.

This is rediculous. At a major university in Florida, I am outraged. John Kerry even offered to answer his question, but the university police went ahead and took him out! There is also a good video to watch where you can see the student being pinned down as the police begin to taser him. This is true, find the video: The student does not struggle, he even offered to walk out on his own. What have we become?

I could not believe what I was seeing! Sure, the student was loud... emphatic would be a better word. As he lay on the ground, pinned down by the deputies, he yells, "Don't taser me!" And he gets tasered! The deputies need to be fired. He was not resisting them.

What was apparent was that THIS guy was ONLY posing his RANTS as Questions..There was NO opportunity given to respond until the microphone was turned off and by THAT time his time had expired..I ALSO noticed that there was APPLAUSE when he was removed indicating to ME that his Actions were NOT appreciated by the majority who were present..

THIS guy has a HISTORY and a WEBSITE dedicated to STAGED Events and I beleive that, except for the Tazing which MAY or may NOT have been excessive, HE got EXACTLY what HE wanted..

This was a set up ALL the way to jail. He got his "15 seconds of fame" and a bonus. Police did their job and reacted professionally.

You know?? ONLY a Liberal would claim that an INCIDENT on a COLLEGE Campus notorious for it's Academic Liberalism during an event involving a Liberal Senator and an Activist spouting off Liberal talking points in the midst of a Presumably Liberal Audience was the work of NEOCONS..LMAO..

THINK PEOPLE..

HAS it EVER even occurred to ANYONE that MAYBE,,JUST Maybe,, a little overcompensation in Security might have SOMETHING to do with the VT Shootings???

NOT an excuse but a FAR more reasonable explanation then the NEOCON Stupidity.....

We need a revolution. This shows that we the people have given up too many of our rights and that the police feel that they have the power to control every move we make.

This guy got what he wanted and what he deserved. All of you out there crying about this guy being tasered are the problem with this country now. A bunch of soft a** wusses. He was asked to leave after disturbing the event he had hijacked. He wouldn't. That kind of disobdience cannot be allowed to occur. He went way over the line and the police acted to bring it to an end. Plus this guy does this kind of stuff all the time. UF should kiss his a** out.
