What are some of your favorite inspirational quotations? I used to have one emailed to me every day. It really helped re-focus me on the task/day at hand, keep my eyes on the goal, and helped drown out all the detractors.
I'll go first:
"The higher we soar, the smaller we appear to those who cannot fly." --Nietzsche
What are some of your favorites?

So what did you think? Was it the defining moment the Democrats were hoping for from her?
Did it "soften" her image as pundits thought was the objective?
Why do you think in 2008 it's still so important for a first lady to appear "soft" while her hubby is fighting to look as tough on the issues as possible?
Why is a smart, educated, self-assured woman still such a threat to the average American?

Think she should get a "get out of jail free card? How should the authorities handle this one?
foxnews.com:
Lawyers in the U.S. are wondering how to deal with a weighty problem.
A woman is accused of killing her two-year-old nephew but prosecutors in Texas do not yet know how to get her to jail and court — because she weighs nearly half a ton.
Mayra Lizbeth Rosales, from La Jola, Texas, is bedridden and weighs nearly 1,000 lbs.
But she cannot get through her front door to be taken to jail and, later, court.

Do you watch this show? Do your daughters? What do you think about this?
One of the 14 girls who will compete on the new season of America’s Next Top Model – which returns to The CW on September 3 – is transgender. “My cards were dealt differently,” Isis, a 22-year-old former receptionist, tells Us Weekly exclusively in its new issue, on newsstands now. Hailing from Prince George’s County, Maryland, Isis identifies herself as “a woman born physically male.”
Will she be a role model? “I like to help people, but I’m here to follow my dreams,” she tells Us.The inclusion of Isis is being hailed by GLAAD president Neil Giuliano as “an unprecedented opportunity for a community that is underrepresented on television. “We applaud Tyra Banks and The CW for making this historic visibility of transgender people possible,” Giuliano said.

So as I sat on the beach on my days off with my mojito in hand, lazily thumbing through the latest issue of People magazine....I was jolted back to consciousness when I saw a full page spread featuring Hollywood's hottest starlets sporting....rolled jeans!!! Why?! I was hoping this trend would go the way of butterfly hair clips and Benneton sweatshirts with the shoulders cut out.
I suffered though (and successfully resisted) the skinny jean comeback.
But this---rolled jeans---I cannot stomach.
Where shall we protest?

Thought you'd have fun with this one.
SEATTLE — A 6-foot-tall, 250-pound letter carrier is campaigning for the right to take off his pants. Dean Peterson wants the U.S. Postal Service to add kilts as a uniform option for men. The idea was soundly defeated in July at a convention of his union, the 220,000-member National Letter Carriers' Association, so Peterson knows convincing management will be an uphill struggle, but at least he'll be comfortable in his kilt, or Male Unbifurcated Garment. "In one word, it's comfort," he said. With his build, Peterson said, his thighs fill slacks to capacity, causing chafing and scarring.

So, would you clone your pet if money was no object?
A CALIFORNIA PET OWNER USED A SOUTH KOREAN COMPANY TO CLONE HER DOG.
DOGS ARE CLONED USING A TECHNIQUE OF HOLLOWING OUT THE NUCLEUS OF A DONOR EGG AND INJECTING IT WITH THE DONOR'S GENETIC MATERIAL.
THAT MATERIAL IS USUALLY SKIN TISSUE TAKEN FROM THE EAR.
AND IT DIDN'T COME CHEAP...THE WOMAN SAID SHE HAD TO SELL PART OF HER HOME TO COME UP WITH THE 50 TO 100-THOUSAND DOLLAR PRICE TAG IT COST TO COMPLETE THIS TECHNIQUE.

Do you really hit Starbucks twice a day?
Will you now? For this?
NEW YORK — Looking to bring more value-seeking consumers through its doors for a late afternoon caffeine fix, Starbucks Corp. said it will now offer its morning customers any iced grande beverage for $2 after 2 p.m.
The price is a big cut from the normal price of most grande-sized iced drinks. A grande iced latte, for example, costs about $4. To get the discount, customers must present a receipt from their morning Starbucks visit.

Ouch. Hurts, doesn't it?
--------
FOXNEWS.COM: Exxon Mobil Corp said on Thursday soaring oil prices pushed its second-quarter earnings up 14%, again breaking its own record for the highest-ever profit by a U.S. company.
Net income in the quarter rose to $11.68 billion, or $2.22 a share, from $10.26 billion, or $1.83 a share, last year.
Exxon (XOM) both produces oil and refines it to make gasoline, and profit margins for gasoline were weak during the quarter, holding back earnings slightly.
U.S. oil prices averaged slightly less than $125 a barrel in the quarter, nearly double prices from a year earlier. Gasoline prices only rose 25% during that same period, resulting in weak profit margins for the fuel.

A new study that compiled decades of research suggests by mid-life men are much happier than women.
Women apparently start out in life happier...but men end up the happier sex by middle age.
Is this true in your life?
Do you think you're the happier one?
Why?
*The full study if you'd like to read it is in The Journal of Happiness. (Betcha never knew there WAS a Journal of Happiness!)

Do you think it's time to break out the lie-detector test for Casey Anthony and perhaps her mother Cindy?
If investigators say they've caught Casey in a web of lies....why not find out?
If she's got a "gut feeling" Caylee's alive (as she said in her most recently released phone coversation from jail)... and this supposed babysitter really took the child.... why not take a polygraph?
Your thoughts?

Do you think that's true?
(I'm not married....so, no...no personal experiences here.)
