Sanjaya and Idol musings...

Every show, reality or otherwise, needs drama of some kind right?

I mean that's why there's a plotting evil force in most dramas, or a criminal that looks like they will outwit the forces of justice. Or someone everyone hates on Survivor.

Well in that same way Sanjaya, regardless of his lack of skills as a singer or performer, made the Idol hunt all the more interesting. Why was he still there, we asked. How long could America overlook this dude? What is up with his look? His hair?

It seems like a little thing but these are the questions that hijacked the Idol discussion for week after week.

With Sanjaya out of the mix who will provide the next dramatic storyline on Idol that we can sink our teeth into?

Without a bad boy or misbehaving, or a back talking even sassy contestant, Idol becomes a little less interesting. Of course, it still is an oddly compelling TV show that I love to check out.

By the way, here is some American Idol trivia:

For the first three seasons the voice of American Idol introduced the elimination round of show. He said the same thing essentially that Ryan Seacrest says now to kick off each show. Who was that announcer?

 This one should be easy.

i was hoping he would win. not because i like him in anyway, but because i'm not a fan of the show or singers that come out of the show. so i was hoping he would win, just so people would begin to stop watching, and stop listening to these manufactured pop stars.

i can't stand the show, and all the hype that goes with it. it's hard to stay away from it when it's on the tv all the time, on the radio, news papers and the internet. so that's why i'm hoping the show will be cancelled. as for the rest of this season, well it will now be about who is the best singer.

as for your trivia question, i'm guessing it's mark thompson. my second guess is bob barker, or is it regis?

You are such an awesome person! I love how much you truely care about each animal that you show on Thompson's Tails! You always make an extra effort to interact with every animal. You absolutely melt my heart! However, I know your no innocent angel either! Why is it that everytime there is something going on at the Playboy Mansion, your always the reporter covering the story? I guess it's because your just the ladies man!! Your a great reporter and you always make me laugh!! Thanks!

Hey Mark! Could the answer to your trivia question be you? Sorry, not a big Idol fan. Too bad for the show that Sanjaya was sent packing. He was the reason that every now and then people like me would tune in. Now, there is absolutely no reason to watch. I guess now it's just a singing competition. By the way, luvda is not the only person to notice your "special" coverage of the Playboy Mansion shindigs...But you are single, right? Ain't nothin' wrong with that! Gottal live it up while you can, you little devil! Still Love Ya though!

Mark I love your TSH show. What happened to Jillian? She couldn't do it while pregnant? I love Nichelle Turner as your co-host. I hope the show stays on the air for a long time. You are a talented guy!

Jillian is busy bringing a new little Jillian into the world so is no longer able to join on TSH :( Still, Lauren Sanchez is awesome as is Arden Myrin (from Mad TV) and we have some great talented people through that program...thanks for checkin' it out.

I regularly watch the Dodgers (couldn't believe how ugly one of their games was over the weekend in fact) so I'll try to move to the front of the bandwagon if there's still room.

I have to agree about Sanjaya. Yes he was remarkably untalented but in his own way he made the show a little more interesting. I imagine the people who complain about him are the same people who complain that Lost has too many unanswered questions.

Jules Sanchez here, We reunited at the American Idol Finale...well actually on the corner of Hollywood and Highland right before Terry Seymore (future wife of Mr. Cowell....wink wink) ;p
I gave you my card and professed that one day I will be on TSH.......
