When people say "y'know those actors should keep their mouths shut about politics and just act" or "Why do famous people feel they HAVE to give us their opinions on ...."

I've always felt that anyone should be able to talk about anything and their views may indeed weigh in as higher profile as a result of their station in life or celebrity. In fact, I've heard many a "celebrity" well educated and informed on the issues to the point that their celebrity begins to fade into the background.

But when these higher profile folk TAKE ACTION instead of just talk about it, THAT really sets them apart.

And so it was with American Idol Gives Back. Weren't you impressed by the number of singers and performers that visited the continent of Africa to point up the unfolding tragedy there? It was a devastatingly powerful window on a continent and people set adrift by political corruption and situations so complicated and mired in horror that one can scarcely understand how it all got that way. I was choked up on multiple occasions looking at it from the comfort of the USA.

When Forrest Whittaker, Annie Lennox, Bono and Daughtry take their bands or, in Whittaker's case their family to these places that are a world away, my respect grows and all cynicism melts away.

I've always been impressed by the DOING that goes on and less so by the talk. In the Idol Gives Back show I saw both.

There are other examples of the DOING coming out of this otherwise superficial, self-absorbed culture every day. That's the stuff of real value.

Our economy can’t take the costs of Illegal Aliens and their Anti-Social behaviors. Forcing Americans to do so, is inflammatory and divisive, and is detrimental to our American Community.

Well said Mark. It was great to see so many people out there. Heart was great with Fergie. That was my favorite performance.

Triple H is a good guy, I've met him a few times. I was able to hold his WWF Championship Belt(Back when it was WWF not WWE) one time!

Markie Baby, so glad you decided to do a blog on the Tinselturd bigmouths. See, here is the problem. First, Hollywood is a major sewer. Yes there are great folks, good folks but they are a teensy, weensy crowd. Most of this industry is made up of the lowest forms of life ever to exist and that is where I I am just getting started. Celeb's have elevated status, thus when they speak and speak with verses of stupidity and ignorance, they deserve the exact flames they get. Even worse, when the Tinselturds go to a foreign country that hates America and its people, those jerks should get public flame. Then there is the business side. When a Tinselturd opens their mouth, they alienate about 50% or more of the product marketplace, thus killing the profits from the studio execs they bilked of dollars. There are many more issues, but honestly, Hollywood and the industry in general is a sewer, it is hated by the majority of Americans and people don't care if it ever burns down. I know I wouldn't care at all, so that is where it really is. You may not like my words, but it is the truth. Cheers and I'll exit stage Right!

sebar you kill me... love your writes. But I gotta go with the sentiment that

Idol Gives Back

was more than just one hell of a show. My feeling about giving is you really should't go around tooting your own horn. But that rule only applies to those who wanna store treasures in heaven. Somehow those who do good for the right reason and the good feelings it gets them right here on earth impress the false heaven of eternal condescension out of me.

No... It is a good thing when folks who love music and entertainment forego a movie or a concert ticket or a new pair of jeans and pool their money towards a good cause. Even the little old lady with the soup kitchen is smiling and whispering a big ole' God Bless America for Idol Gives Back.
