So much goes into the success of a show.  Promotion is very important but placement on the schedule is perhaps even more important.

For example, you can put any old show after American Idol or the Super Bowl and it will get massive audience sampling and then if it's a decent show it will get that audience to come back week after week.

With my new show "Hole In the Wall" (Thursdays at 8p on Fox) we have been starved for promotion but had a decent rating after a sneak preview episode on Sunday.

So now it comes down to Thursday @ 8 and with no lead-in (strong show before us) and marginal awareness of the show and no solid promo schedule....I'm nnnervous.

Still, because Hole In The Wall performed so well on Sunday and because the show is funny and one the whole family can get into I am optimistic that it will get traction if not right away then slowly.

I hope you enjoy it if you should happen to have a chance to check it out.

All comments are welcome... I may as well say that since I know you will leave them for me anyway :)

Hello Mark. I missed the original opening, but did catch the last show. I have not formed an opinion as of yet, but I will sample several shows and give you my honest opinion as I always do my friend. Glad you are having fun and of course I do hope it lasts. With so much on tv these days especially new game shows, it is hard to hold any kind of audience. People are busier now working several jobs just to stay afloat (when they can find employment) then they used to be so the average Joe or Jane is just super busy trying to survive. But again, Mark, I'll try and get you an honest opinion.

Hello Mark, I have to say that i have not heard anything about your show. I don't usually watch tv on weekends and did not know you had a new show in the works. But know that I know it will be on thursday, then I will tune in. You are a very smart man and your voice and personality are amazing. don't listen to stupid people who have nothing better to do then waste their time on the internet looking for ways to hurt or disrespect people. You will do GREAT! and I'mm sure people will tune in. It's about time they gave YOU your own show. You deserve it! All the best in luck. God Bless you!

So, what is the show about? I'm open for a new show, even if I am a Right-winger, I still like to have fun.

Rev, be cool now; don't be so hard on Mark! With all the hurricane news going on, the guy is busy! He'll answer back soon enough; I've been on his blogs before. He thinks carefully, and answers back a number of folks at the same time, if there are a bunch of replies that are related.

Mark, I enjoyed the premier show! I just might get a laugh on the Fox 11 news, if Rick Garcia were to yell out his famous line "Go In The Hole" while you do a story on "Hole In The Wall" on the Fox 11 newscasts. Keep on having fun with the show!

I was driving home yesterday from another long day (was working and training at the gym! I came home quite late for me...) when my husband yelled on the phone "OMG!!! Mark Thompson is on TV! He's on some TV game show called 'Hole In the Wall!!!' " (Of course, he also made some comment about your receding hairline too! *rolleyes*) And what impeccable timing you have when you sent out your latest blog tonight!!!

Mark: you know that I will always give 'ya the love!!!! I'd remember a long time back you had mentiond that you had always wanted to host your own game show!!! So I am VERY HAPPY that you got a shot (another shot???) at it!!! I'm dying to see what you look like on TV! :-)

Well my opion is based on careful observations and like you said consideration of events down the road too. While nobody can predict the future I have often been correct in my assessments both positive and negative on entertainment trends. In the short to mid term the show will do well, but long term it will become a bit repetitive for many viewers as once you have seen one hole in the wall, you have seen them all. While personally I wish you and that cast and crew the best of luck, my opinion and observation is a very honest mention. Can I be wrong, absolutely and in this case I would hope to be. But the observation remains on the longterm if people's viewing habits and drifting TV loyalties hold true to the past, they will also be the future. Good luck anyhow and I generally hope this remains a major success for you. You're too good a guy to have to have another TSH on your hands.

Sebar....u r probably right about the long term ... I'd just like a little short and medium term before the curtain falls :)

Well Mr T., the truth is that the curtain never has to fall on anything. If you look at for example, the Price Is Right, your show can last as long. If you want me to, I can email you some other ideas I have had about walls for your show as well as other idea stunts. You can get to me through Ddain or Mister E if you needed too. Tony Valdez also has my direct email. I honestly would like to see you go on for a very long time. You have a great base, and all it needs is some shoring up. Anyhow if you are interested then you know how to reach me, if not, then best of luck anyhow and I hope my view is wrong. The last thing I want to see is anyone out of a job.

The main bad signs could be preemption. I remember when my close and great friend who would have been 65 yesterday, his NBC show got preempted 9 times in it's first season. I gave his producers 3 teleplays while their show was sinking that could have saved the series. They never even read it, just left it on a pile on their desks, and so they got canned by early in their second season. I have a very keen sense and quick wit analogy when things are tanking and how they can be fixed and renewed. Unfortunately, most folks do nothing till it's too late. Wall has a great start and with tweaking can go very far.

A quick note to you Mark. Their loss may well be your gain. With the SAG strike on, your show may become very important to FOX. Since I could not email you directly, I did drop Christine Devine a personal note, which hopefully she sent you, to contact me. I have some other ideas and just wanted to forward these to you for the show. Nothing more then that. I think they are enough they could improve and shore it up for the long term. With the strike on, this is your show's chance to surge and maintain itself longterm I am hoping.
