ABC's Roundtable, oil and energy. It was intresting, of the four comentators, two were liberal Democrats, one a Republican, and one speaking in behalf of the oil industry. First the Democrats blame the current situation on a lack of an energy policy for the last eight years , that answer probably sounds good and will satisfy a Bush- basher, but what about those of you that actually have a brain and can use it ? The first Arab Oil Embargo was in the 70's and pointed out a fundimental weakness in our economy and defense that far back, was that Bush's fault as well ?  The Republican party is trying to streamline the permitting process for nuclear, and fighting Democratic obstructions as well. The Democratic responce is that wall street will not invest in " new " nuclear and capitalism is to blame. This is a classic case of a Democrat lying his blame elsewhere. Nuclear would be invested in if it were allowed, currently lawsuits and regulations can tie construction up 20 years. Can anyone afford to invest in something where " NO RETURN " can be expected for at least 20 yrs. ? Democratic objections to new drilling are that 80% of Federal lands have been made available and have not been fully utilized. The oil representative states that : on that Federal land 280 test wells have been drilled at a cost of $1 million dollars apiece, 21 were found to have hit oil. It requires further testing and a considerable amount of money to see if there is still enough oil there to economically recover. Democratic responce  to those " FACTS "- nun, I guess that without considerable time and counsel from others a good " LIE " or " FALSE FACT "cannot be produced. Once again the Democrats cry about Exxon/Mobil's $ 40 billion dollar profit, once again the fact that that return was from a total sales of $ 404 billion dollars was omitted. The Democrat ( communist ) then claimed that Exxon was not doing enough to invest in alternate energy, stating the Exxon/Mobil spent $ 32 billion of that profit to buy back stock.  That in my belief is a sound strategy, it allows : a better defence against hostile takeovers, frees money up to invest rather than pay dividends, and makes steering a corporation easier.  What the Democrats also didn't mention was the cost that their Congressional Inquistions and the Oil companies legal fees add to your energy prices. AMAGINE THAT !

Any thoughts ?

On a small side note, once again a Democrat ( communist ) has suggested taking oil from the Strategic Oil Reserve, the only safe and secure means of fueling our armed forces in the event of a global shooting war or a no holds barred economic war. He suggested taking 100,000 barrels and it would lower prices. I wonder how, you still have to refine the crude at another " new " refinery that they won't allow !

Meb, Dear, Sweet Meb,
The easiest thing to do these days, is to blame George. I'm starting a new trend. I got the idea from Eric. He slipped in here (George did) and pinched my Grandbaby, and made him cry. He does it all the time. If we take oil from our Strategic Reserve NOW, and it frigs up, it will be George's fault. If we don't and things go to hell, it will be George's fault. If we harvest more oil from the Gulf NOW, and keep it for ourselves, and it frigs up a relationship somewhere in the world, it'll be George's fault, if we don't and our country sinks, which it's gonna do, it'll be his fault anyway! So was 9/11 (inside job), Katrina, he mixed it up in the sky all by himself....

Deborah, right you are girl. I've yet to see a single Democrat on the FOX blog scrutinize a single Democratic politician and his or her actions.

I can't believe you where able to sit threw that show , its not like you are ever going to learn anything new from that network...same old BS . Another “missed point” by all democrats is that little George was the very first person in all of Washington to actually propose an “energy plan” in over 25 years, his plan witch has spending for alternative energy and a diversified approach was part of his campaign in 1999...Gore never developed a plan. If not for GWB we would not have a plan at all , and the Obama plan is a joke !

Interesting choice for a panel. *Two* Democrats against one Republican and one oil representative. Nah, they weren't biased.

I'm still waiting for the oil reps to blast back at the Democrats for all the crap they've taken from them:

"How is it you, in the government, get 15% of the profits, while we only get 3%? What do YOU do to deserve that much? I don't see YOU prospecting, drilling, and delivering it to refineries and homes."

"Are you certain that you (the government) REALLY want to take the oil business over? I don't know, seems to me you have your hands full already. You know, with Social Security, Medicare, the public school system, etc. Great job with those, by the way. Seems to me you're having enough problems already. Are you SURE you want this job?"

...oil would be at least as well run as the post office , public education or Medicaid. So we would have an oil system that favors Mexico and demands higher taxes for less product every year.....LOL

I did, back when it was at 75,150 signatures. As of June 19th, the number has reached 1 million. The new goal now is 3 million by this fall's national conventions. The URL to the website is below, for those who haven't seen it yet:

Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less.

It wss tough to watch RNC. I wassn't so much conserned with learning as hearing the latest fresh pile, err, cough, cough, I mean information that the Demowits fabricated. George Stephanopolis doen't grill any of the liberal political hacks, err, cough, cough, I mean politicians, he could take a page from Russert's book. ABC doesn't have a moderator they have an anouncer. Thanks for the comments all.
