Ok, before anyone gets to far into this let me say that this is a fictional story based on actual events.  The part about fox 13 is true but the rest didnt happen, but it could.....

Here goes....

My wife comes home from work around 5:45pm.  She turns on the TV which is preset to Fox 13.  She puts all her stuff down like her purse and car keys etc. Takes off her shoes and sits on the couch just in time to see the 6pm Fox 13 news report.  First on Fox is Nick Hogan is in the hospital after crashing his car.  There is a knock on the door.  She looks out the window and sees a man holding a package.  She unlocks the door and just begins to open it and the door is kicked in.  The man throws her to the floor and tears off her skirt and begins to sexually assualt her.  He pulls a knife and places it on her throat and tells her is she screams, shes dead.  She turns her head and looks back towards the TV trying to block out what is happening to her.  10 minutes into the news cast the reporter is still talking about Nick Hogan.  Then the second story comes on and its a warning about a serial rapist matching the mans discription.  She cant help but ask herself how Nick Hogans car crash was more important then a warning about a serial rapist on the loose.  The man looks at the TV and smiles and tells my wife good thing someone famous got hurt or you wouldnt have opened the door.

End of Fictional (not real) story.

Now does anyone see a problem with any of this.  I would rather know about the serial rapist, the transformer blowing up in lakeland, and the weather way before a street racing accident.  I mean if I got into an accident the only way it would make the news is if i stopped traffic somewhere.  I know this becuase i have been in a few accidents and no reporter ever asked me a question.  No one from Fox 13 came to the hospital.  No one cared.  I feel the same way about this one.  I mean all day about a car accident.  The kid isnt even that famous, yet all this wasted time that could be spent on news.

Does anyone think the same thing or is it just me?

Well, Mikey, I don't usually agree with you, but look at my blog of the suddenly missing "Hogan" blog. Many people have missed the point, that Celebrity people are not bigger than God.Nor are they anymore important than any other individual.. I know you are not a religious man, but I think you get that point.

People die in accidents every day. You are correct, "where are those reports". My concern is, that in this situation, all the focus is on the poor Hogans.. Yes, we should have sympathy for all people involved in a hardship, but the point is: THIS KID IS SPIRALING OUT OF CONTROL AND HIS FAMILY IS IN THE SAME CONDITION AS HE IS.. THEN FOR KICKERS, THE MEDIA IS STUPID ENOUGH TO PROMOTE HIM.. YIKES!!!!! The young man in the car with him has BRAIN DAMAGE! THE NEWS ISN'T REPORTING THAT LITTLE TIDBIT.... But they have the nerve to keep running his "drafting race car career" I find that rude and hurtful, as well as disrespectful to this young man, who may end up "brain damaged" for the rest of his life... I mean really, how irresponsible is it to keep GLORIFYING Nicks racing career, when HIS RACING/SPEEDING ANTICS are responsible for this young mans condition. Now you know why I'm always preaching about eyes to see and ears to hear..

Like Paris, Lindsey, Britney et al, Nick's troubles give the msm something to parrot on about instead of reporting actual news. It's been like that far too long.

PastorD, it doesn't surprise me that they are downplaying this other kids serious injuries. That would be reporting the whole story. Not spinning.

I have LinkTV. I see more real news on their news shows "Journal" and "Mosaic" than I do in our msm combined. They haven't even found time to mention Nick. The massive fires in Greece, record highs of Opium production in Afghanistan, the stock markets, etc. Those are a few of the news stories that make up the content of the above-referenced programs.

Rupert should take a clue...

I hate to rain on the anti-FOX or anti-media or anti-celebrity parade, but I'm looking at an archived version yesterday's 6 o'clock rundown. The lead story was the transformer fire.

Well Boex, we watched diffrent news casts. I watched Fox 13 and maybe you watched baynews 9. And I think people are missing my point about the story. It really didnt have to do with Nick Hogan. I did a blog before about how i was upset that first on fox was about Michael Vick. What I was trying to say is that none of the celebrity stuff should be included in the news casts until at least after the first commercail break. Serial Rapist on the loose should have been the very first thing on and instead of spending all that time talking about Nick Hogan they could have repeated and repeated and then repeated one more time about the more important Serial Rapist on the loose. I dont know how everyone missed that point.

Mikey, I didn't miss it. I just added another little tidbit. You are absolutely right. I guess the "reporters" or media industry in general, feel *more important individually* if they can in turn and boast about what and who THEY HAVE covered or interviewed. I see it all the time, because I know a lot of these people.... Others too, I don't just want them to get a bad rap here.... I guess the bottom line is its a MONEY business, just like everything else. A serial rapist mug on TV isn't going to bring in big ratings. I'm sure our moderator isn't going to like this point either, BUT it's the truth.

I will make the point of "Human Nature" in (EVERYONE'S) defense. All people in general, need to try to look beyond the issues at hand and seek the driving force or what that should really be: Rapist- on the loose- warn people - save a life. Speeding- kills, causes brain injuries- OR GO ahead and talk about "the speeders constant tickets and elaborate more on HIS LATEST career/ car racing gig...

Your right Mikey, your right.... A bad example gets applauded and HIS CAREER PROMOTED. And Mr. Rapist gets the *opportunity* for a new victim while their blabbing about it. Ya gotta love the priorities in life...

Good points from everyone, except the moderator....

Eyes to see and ears to hear... Fox, must have missed that post Pastor.

Facts are facts. Hogan/Bollea was not the lead that day.

Another fact: Hogan has been the most-viewed topic on the website (by thousands of pageviews) for the last few days.
