Dear youtee1,
You incorrectly used the words "we" and "people" insinuating that we are all in agreement with your childish snide comments. I just want to make sure that you are aware that there are a great many of us who watch FOX35 news for exactly the same reasons that you hate it so much. Personally, I enjoy a little levity during the news. Especially in lite of the fact that tom much of the news reported is of a negative nature due to the state of the world in which we live. The reason I watch FOX35 over the other stations news is because I enjoy Tom, Heidi, Christine and Jim joking around in the mornings, just as I do Amy and the others in the afternoon.
And since you won't be watching any more, you post was as pointless as it was cretinous.
ps) If you allowed comments on your post you might actually get some....but then again, you probably won't like most of them........

I am relatively new to the whole blogging thing, and as a
new-comer I have noticed a few things I wanted to throw out there for others’
opinions.
I will use the UF TASER incident as an example. The first
post appeared shortly after the story broke. There were many comments to the
original post, but then someone else made another post about the same topic
which re-hashed many of the same issues covered in the original post. Then
another post and another post and another post about essentially the same
topic. I have noticed this numerous times and it appears as though people do
not search the existing blogs to see if the topic is already being discussed
prior to starting a new post on the same subject. Instead of having 50 comments
spread over 4 different post started by 4 different bloggers, it would be
better to have them all consolidated.

I saw a news report tonight about 2 officers who captured and relocated a gator from an apartment complex. According to the report the officer were in trouble for their actions because Fl. Fish & Game said that the gator should have been killed and not relocated. Last time I had a problems with a gator that required an immediate
response from Fish & Game it took hours for them to respond from
their office in OCALA.
If the officers and "busted a cap" in the gator we would have seen a report about how they should have only trapped the poor mis-understood creature and not killed it. Give me a break!
They also talked about how dangerous it was for the officers to trap the gator and how they had not had adequate training in the proper tactics......... Give me another break!
There are MANY things cops do that are even more dangerous for which they receive NO training for, yet they still do them in order to save others. Much law enforcement training consist of watching videos of "experts" demonstrating the proper technique. Any office that has seen a few episodes of "The Crocodile Hunter" is more than qualified.
These two officers should be given a medal!

Traffic

Hello and welcome to my first BLOG! Forgive me if I rant a little (or a lot), but this is something that has bothered me for awhile. Things I have witnessed first hand have made me wonder and ask the question: Are people really that bad at driving, are they really that stupid, or are they really just that mean????? And what really scares me is that one of these dismal choices HAS to be the answer……… Let me give you an example: A while back I was driving down Pleasant Hill Rd. in Osceola County. Traffic was light and the weather and light was great. All of a sudden I saw a lake otter running from the right side of the road towards my lane. I saw the animal BECAUSE I was paying attention. I had just checked my mirrors before I saw the animal so I knew that there was no traffic immediately behind or next to me. Even though I was driving a van full of equipment and pulling a trailer loaded with equipment, I braked as hard as I could with out jack-knifing and swerved a little in order to miss the cute little animal, which was probably fleeing the heavy construction machinery that was about to pave over his habitat. (But that is a whole other BLOG) The point is, I was driving the speed limit, I was paying attention as I drove my 3 ton weapon down the highway, and I cared enough to at least make an effort to avoid the animal. I then watched in my mirror as the otter crossed both lanes on my side and entered the wide grassy median. As it continued across the median heading for the two lanes on the other side I looked ahead for on-coming traffic. There was only one car in the area traveling in those lanes approaching the otter’s location. As the otter entered the inside lane as it continued its sprint towards the lake on the other side of the highway, I watched in horror as the car ran directly over the otter without so much as a flash of the brake lights or the slightest swerve to avoid the collision. The car never slowed or gave any indication that the driver was even aware they had just run over something. Now there are only a few possible explanations for this. Either the driver of the car was completely oblivious to the animal that was obviously visible as it ran across my two lanes, the wide median, and into his traffic lanes. That driver had 4 or 5 times the amount of warning that I did, yet they didn’t avoid the animal. Perhaps they were adjusting the radio or putting on their lipstick?? Glad it wasn’t a kid chasing after a ball!!!! Another explanation could be that the driver just didn’t care about killing the animal. They saw it but just hit it because it was in their way. After all, the animal should have known better, right? The third option is that the driver was just a mean person and hit the animal on purpose. I am not sure which explanation I hope is right! No matter which it is, it points to a much bigger and more serious problem. Another Example: A couple of weeks ago I saw a pair of Sandhill Cranes crossing the Town Center Blvd. with their two fuzzy little chicks following close behind. I slowed down so that they could finish crossing my traffic lanes. I then watched as they proceeded across the median and into the lanes on the opposite side heading towards a retention pond. I noticed a couple of cars bearing down on the four as they crossed the street. They did not appear as though they were slowing or going to make any attempt to miss the cranes and their chicks. I positioned my vehicle across the lanes which blocked traffic and gave the birds a chance to cross. Over the next couple of weeks I saw the cranes and their babies every day. In the morning they were on one side of Town Center at a small pond where they were apparently nesting. In the afternoon they crossed the road to the larger pond to eat. I watched this migration several times during this time, and commented to my wife that it was only a matter of time before some idiot hit and killed them. Well, yesterday as I drove down Town Center just east of OBT, I saw the two adult cranes near the big pond, but there was no sign of the babies. I pulled into the median for a minute hoping to see the chicks in the tall grass, but nada. I listen as the adult kept “calling” as sandhill cranes do, but still no chicks. Then I looked in my rearview mirror and saw something in the road behind me. I backed up slowly until I could see that both chicks had been splatted right on the edge of the road way. Are you telling me that someone driving a car down a wide open four lane road in good light and conditions did not see these cranes? A bird that stands 5 foot tall as it walked across the road? IF you were driving the speed limit AND paying attention, you would see these birds in plenty of time to slow down, change lanes, honk you horn, or how about just stop and let the animals cross the street. Again, I fear that there are only a few possible explanations for this and NONE of them are good! So which is it? Are drivers REALLY just that bad? Are people REALLY that stupid? Or Are people REALLY just that mean??? And don’t get me wrong. I do not consider myself a tree hugger or environmentalist wacko. I just care about nature and life. I do not believe that any of it should be taken for granted and that we should all at least try to do what’s right. I also believe that driving a vehicle is a MUCH greater responsibility than most people realize. A car in the hands of a distracted idiot is many times more dangerous than a gun in the hands of some ill intentioned thug. What do you think?
