I was watching Bill Moyers Journal the other day.  I like that porgram.  He had an economist on therethat said we had an economy with holes in it.  Any I found myself thinking, "Yeah, you could drive a truck through it."  He said he thought that Barak Obama would have to make the holes bigger.  I have to agree.  But with a little luck he has the people with him that can help him do it right.  And you better believe that re-regulation of the banking industry is coming.  And some of us find it a little unbelievable, but true, that a lot of this started during the Carter administration.  But I am suprised to see that no one is talking to ex-President Carter about it.  It is also suprising that no one is talking to ex-President Clinton about the parts of it that got started in his administration.

At any rate, I think it will take a long time to fix it.  Obama says two years.  I should think more like 10.  And that is only if we bite the bullet hard enougn.  At any rate it is good to know that the Saudi's are actually trying to help us.  That is why the lower oil prices.

Well, as I said  before, I am very happy with my 4 pbs channels.  I was especially pleased to see and hear partof thespeeches with Jim Lehrer and Robert MacNeil were honored by the Cronkite school of broadcasting here at ASU.  What I really liked was when one of them said he took a stop watch and timed the indepth reporting and it took about 1 minute.  He said that was not indepth reporting.  I remember when the News Hour would spend a whole hour on just one story.  You really got some information then.  I guess that is why I like 60 Minutes so much too.  The indepth stories are so much more indepth then what you usually get.  Now we just have to work on the fair and balanced part of it.

About that D-TV that so many people are making such a fuss about.  I have gone digital already, why haven't you?  I now have at least 4 PBS channels where I used to have one before.  But where is my favorite Fox 10, nowhere.  At least I can't find them in the west valley.  If you're out there you are missing a considerable hunk of your market.  I am beginning to watch your competitors because they have already gone digital.

Just a little bit to say about the economy.  I was watching George Stephanopolis this morning.  George Will was on as he is all the time.  He said that what we are facing now is the possibility of deflation.  He seemed very worried about that and thought it was a bad thing.  Apparently our dollar is actually becomming worth more in terms of what it will buy.  It will actually buy more goods and services for us.

Of course they also talked about the economy and what Predisent elece Obama will do to stimulate it.  I have a friend at work who has been talking about this stimulus package and thinks that she is going to get another check out of it.  From what they said on TV this morning, not so.  They say it looks like the Federal government will send the money to states and other local governments.  I hope that they do.  They seemed to think that these governments will use the money for exactly the thing I suggested some time ago here, that they use it to repair bridges and pave roads and put our local citizens to work again.  I think that would be a great idea.  But to get it done I think we need to send letters and e-mails and phone calls to our Senators and Congressmen.

Think of it this way, you got out there and voted for them,  They are there to be used.  Wether you agreed with me that the people we had in there now were doing a pretty good job or not, use them.  Tell them, the things that you want them to do and not do.  Tell them about wether you want the auto industry bailed out, or wether you think they should take some lessons from the Japanese or not.  Japanese auto makers built their factories in this country so that they could be changed from one model of car to another easily.  Ours don't to that.  That gives them a lot of flexibility to change from one model to another if demand for one should drop suddenly.  I think the times demand that.

About the last election I just want to say "Way to go America."  Wether you acreed with me or not you got out and voted.  And some of us really did get the CHANGE WE WANTED.  But the biggest and most important thing is  YOU GOT OUT AND VOTED.  HURRAH.

I have some suggestions about the budget.  Now that the price of gas has gone down hiow about putting back the taxes that some localities took off the price of gas to help the poor.  These taxes could be used to help fund things like infrastructure repair and maintence on our state and federal highways.  That would help with the unemployment problems around  here.  Those same taxes could be used to help fund transportation services like the bus and light rail.  That way all the preparations to expand light rail would not go to waste.  People seemed to not mind spending $3.00 a gallon for gas, so lets put some of those taxes on and raise the price up again.  This is also good for the environment and the air that we all have to breath.  It encourages people to ride those buses more and use more fuel efficient vehicles.

This is to all the people who like to read my posts.  Tomorrow is election day.  If you don't get out and vote or haven't votyed early, I hope you like doing what I tell you to do.  I do get out and vote.  So I do things like saying who the leaders are going to be.  I also do things like raising taxes.  And I can raise some peoples taxes without raising the taxes I pay buy simpl;y voting for an increase on things that I don't buy, like cigarettes and gasoline, I ride the bus.

So if you don't get out and vote on election day, I hope you like doing what I tell you to do.

I want to say thanks to the people who suggested jobs for me. The 101 and Eliot is too far for me to go.  That is way on the other side of the valley.  Also my work has picked up a little.  With some luck it will stay that way.  Thanks for your prayers and concern.

This message is for Beth and Bill because Halloween is coming and these subjects are popular to discuss at that time.  First I want you to say to Bill  "Area 51".  Everyone know that has to do with UFO's.  Then I want you to say to him. "White Sands,"  Then sit back and watch his reaction.  The explaination for Area 51 is this.  It is the place where the missels that are test fired out of White Sands are landing.

I discovered that one day when a reporter was doing another story on UFO's.  He wanted to get into the area, but was denied access.  So he found a place along the fence and did the story.  On the fence behind him was a small sign with two words on it that could just be made out.  Apparently the reporter was unaware of the sign.  The words were "White Sands".  That explained the situation to me real fast.  After all those missels can miss, and if they hit a human being, I hate to think of what would happen.

Considering the Stock Market this last week I would just like to say that I think there is hope on the Mortgage Market Front.  I heard that banks have stopped making those risky sub-prime mortgages that got us into all this trouble in the first place.  That means that in one area at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  It might be a long way off, but with a little luck we will see a reduction in the number of Forclosures in the next couple of years.  So in 5 to 10 years our economy could be in a lot better shape then it is today.  And no I don't think it will happen much before that.  As I said, it it just a light at the end of the tunnel.

I am not sure if I am writting this on time or not.  This is about those dogs that attacked an 18 month old child.  You might consider this a warning to people who own dogs like this, or rather a heads up to them.  I and my mother raised dogs when she was still alive.  I can tell you that what those dogs were doing was stricktly according to the law of the pack.  That is whenever the alfa male or father and the alpha female or mother abandon one of their offspring without another member of their pack to keep an eye on it, it is considered that the pack has rejected the baby for some reason.  Members of a rival pack, which is what these dogs seem to be, would then consider it their duty to dispose of the unwanted offspring.  The dogs were not mad, or sick, or insane, or anything like that.  They were just treating the family as though it were a pack and acting accordingly.  If the rest of the dogs are still alive, they don't deserve to die.  But if other families come into a situation like that they should be aware of what the likely dynamics are and not leave their children unguarded.

Dear Fox 10 News Team

I have heard that the City of Phoenix is planning some budget cuts, but not a lot about what they decided to do.  Could you cover that a little more.  I also have some suggestions for how the city can save some money.  I agree with across the board hiring freezes with the eception of police and fire protection.  I think the city could put some of their street repair on a longer cycle for resurfacing.  What I mean is if they are planning on resurfacing a particular street every 2 years how about doing it every 4 years.  This would also discourage more drivers from speeding because if they did they would be far more likely to have an accident.  But I think at the same time they should encourage citizens to become more involved with their city.  They might volunteer to help the fire department, the police department and for neighbor hood watches.  The neighbor hood watch does far more to discourage crime then most people know and, when done right, is not nearly as dangereous as some people think.

Well I guess my ability to blog has not been interupted just yet.  But you might consider this as History as News.  I believe it was Ron Hoon the other day who was saying that there was a lag from the time of the Crash of '29 to the take over of FDR as president.  And How.  If you will recall the crash occured in 1929.  But the next election for President, which was the first one won by FDR didn't occure until Nevember of 1932.  He won the elections of '32, '36' '40' and '44.  By the way, if you're interested, he died in April of '45.

It looks as though my time on the computer got extended.  So I have something to say about those prime time cartoons.  You should know that I don't watch them much.  I prefer PBS.  But I do catch them from time to time. I am beginning to think that I am the only female in the valley who thinks that those cartoons that portray the male head of the household as a stupid boob ought to be taken off the air.  Or may be I am the only one who finally got mad enough to say how stupid they are and that every man in the valley ought to be offended by them.  I don't enpect that anything will happen, but I just thought that someone ought to say that they think the cartoons ought to go.
