Through years of liberal indoctrination in our public schools, it appears the goal of emasculating the present generation is complete. At the mere hint of an economic recession, our voting age young adults look about in hysterical fear for what their future will bring. Instead of applying basic survival instincts, they are paralyzed with foreboding financial "doom and gloom" reports from the liberal MSM.
Rather than analyizing the errors of their foolhardy spending in the past, they do exactly what they were taught to do: blame everybody else and then demand "somebody do something" (i.e., the government). While they were happily incurring credit debt they could never afford, liberal leaders were patiently waiting for this new amoebic generation. Well, it is here and it is now! The only thing left to clinch a liberal landslide election now is to offer that old favorite..."a pie in the sky." Obama is proving to be more than equal to the task.
A joyous Independence Day to all of those that can still recall its' meaning.

I don't know which is more depressing, the liberal MSM reporting every inconvenience during a recession as another Armaggedon, or the hopeless, helpless commentary on some of these blogs. Okay, so you won't be able to spend a hundred dollars on fireworks this 4th of July; you can't take the SUV to your favorite vacation spot; you must plan for every dollar you spend; you are eating out less; no more expensive gifts on special ocassions; you are walking more and driving less; on and on.
After a nice family dinner (the kids too, no exceptions) sit down around the coffee table (T.V. off) and discuss what each person can do to stretch the monthly budget and "make ends meet." Appeal to unselfish suggestions from one and all. You will be amazed at how much money you can save and didn't know it. Also, you will notice that you have a family and not just a boarding house. Try it...you'll like it.

The latest developments on off-shore drilling in California should make it abundently clear that the only "green" envirionmentalists groups are interested in is the "green back." In a 180 degree reversal, the invironmentalists have now approved of drilling for oil off the shores of the Golden State. The only "catch" is that approval comes with demands for millions of dollars (impact fees), hundreds of acres of donated real estate, pollution free public transportation, a cease and desist order within 14 years and the closing of 3 currently operating refinery sites.
By any other name these demands can only be identified as unabashed environmental extortion. In the guise of making this a cleaner, safer planet, these "Green" demands will cancel out any hope of reducing the "price at the pump." However, the "Greens" will realize a Sultan's fortune in free, untaxable wealth that would turn former oil barons "green" with envy.

Finding idle time with nothing better to do, it seems obligatory to revisit the "newsroom." There is little of substance to be said about election 2008. Any notion of "change" is by now just another fiction. So why bother?
Fuel prices, the Middle East, religious genocide, amoral celebrities, media chicanery, environmental fantasies, high tech masochism, pharmaceutical homicide, leaderless governments and economic bungling are all running their predictable course. So, what is to be said?
I'll just take this moment to relate my appreciation to the folks that make the time to pass on their well intentioned thoughts for our deliberation. "All said and done," these Blogs may be the best therapy any "professional" could perscribe.

Okay, so the Clintons have capitulated. The choice of vice presidents may not be made until the final hours of either convention. So, we face 6 more months of bogus polls, impossible promises, scandal mongering, character assassination and biased news reporting. I'm not sure my countenance is up to the task of enduring this period. So, from now until November, this may be a good time to catch up on all those old movies I intended to see over the past 3 or 4 years.

Now that fuel and commodity prices have forced the consumer to give pause before reaching for the "plastic," it is probably a good thing. For far too long, Americans have been either "pointing and clicking" or "wiping" their way into unmanageable debt. They now face the reality of "paying the fiddler" for excessive spending on every sort of foolish items.
Since home owners have begun losing their houses to bank foreclosures, the gruesome truth of basic survival looms before them "face to face." No longer can folks be the "impulse" buyers they once were. As painful as it may be, valuable lessons must now be learned: "A fool and his fortune will soon be parted;" Costly in thy habit(s) as thy purse can afford" and "The Party's over."

Most Bloggers by now have noticed the controversy stirred by the Confederate battle flag to be displayed where I-75 and I-4 converge. While both points of view (pro and con) have merit, there is an appropriate place for every observance. My only objection to dedicating homage to those who gave their life for any cause is a proper location. A display honoring those who died for their cause belongs on a site for that purpose alone. Cemetaries, museums, public monuments (e.g. Gettysburg, Pa, Atlanta's Cyclorama, Indianapolis War Musem, et al.) are proper sites for this but not a major (dangerous) intersection of two major Interstates.

America has become a society dependent on pharmaceuticals for anything from E.D. to sleeping potions. Any social conversation will invariably lead to the latest medical drugs that will enhance, reduce, increase, inhibit, enforce, eleminate, proliferate, and on on it goes. Hardly ever will we hear anything knowledgable about "complete nutrition" which is the time honored key to good health. We hear more of recreational, decorator, euphoric, halucinegenic etc., etc., illegal drugs than natural herbs and food groups that provide the immune system with the strength to avoid problems in the first place.
Dr. Andrew Weil (among many others) has published many books on natural "nutrition" that will prevent illness in every area of physical health in the human body. Countless thousands still resort to anything touted in the media as the latest "breakthrough" in some (real or imagined) malady, more often than not, due to the "power of suggestion." It is no coicidence that this helpless dependency spills over into the choices made in deciding political preferences. Whichever candidate promises the easiest remedy for all that ails the people is always the choice. Unfortunately, those "promises" are as empty as the bogus claims of pharmiceutical companies we endure daily.

What the Sam Hill is the mainstream media on about? I saw and heard the same news clip of President Bush's speech in Israel and couldn't begin to make the "stretch" to a political smear against Obama. I thought his remarks (Bush) were aimed at Hezbolah, Hamas, Al Queda and Iran's interference in Palestinian affairs. The knee jerk over reaction of the liberal media was as if somebody was caught with their hand in the cookie jar.
It wasn't until the media made an obtuse reference to Obama's position with the appeasement of A. Hitler that it "hit the fan." Otherwise, the speech would have remained in context with the "tight rope" western democracies must walk between Palestine and Israel's tenuous peace. So far as a vehement committment of U.S. support for the Israelis, it's about time Bush took a firm position... especially now that he can't do a damned thing about it.

A passing thought caught my attention and I thought I would share it with others. If Barack Obama must indeed choose a Vice President, what must he consider first? Obama with Hillary as V.P would be an unstopable ticket in 2008. But wait a minute, given the history of the insatiable lust the Clinton's have for power, he should first consider his own mortailty. If Hillary were second in line for the White House, her conquest would be only one bullet away. Edwards would seem to be the logical choice but he is a strange fit (as a trial lawyer) in the Obama platform for "change."
My guess is that his choice for V.P. will be a relatively unknown, shadowy politician falling in-line with the misty, unclear agenda of Obama himself. He will be making a "statement" with his choice that will confirm or deny his committemnt to any real "change" in party politics as usual. It should be interesting.

I can only imagine how traumatic it must be for the Clintons to see the very same Media that protected their past political chicanery now eagerly supporting Hillary's opponent. The Clintons can't complain too loudly lest the whole rotten structure (the Media) bears down on "the whole rotten structure" (the Clintons). Isn't it amusing to see that when Clinton's campaign expenses begin to fail, the Media support begins to fail in direct proportion? My oh my, "what a tangled web we weave" and now with the addition of approachable "super delegates" due to the millions of disenfranchised voters at the Democeatic National Convention...what a show this will be! LOL

Does it seem "American Idol" has become nearly an obsession on "Good Day..." Young talent is always a novel distraction but only that. I would enjoy seeing coverage of professional groups appearing at local Tampa Bay venues i.e., professional bands, single entertainers, et al. which would arouse interest in area bars and restaurants as well. Some worthwhile musical entertainment around the Sarasota, St. Pete Beach, Ybor City is surely available to be included on the "Good Day Tampa Bay" entertainment segment.

While the "lock down" on the Channel 13 Blogs is still fresh on our minds, it would be worth while to examine the causes. Comments from a miniscule number of malcontents and character assassins were so utterly out of control that corrective steps had to be taken. This is the fallicy rabid "freedom of speech" extremists bring to the table when free and open debate is the "prize." I have always stated that Bloggers have the responsibility to their guests for maintaining reason, rapport and mutual respect on their Blog. If this, at times, must include removing a predatory interloper's volital comments, then by all means do so without haste.
Let those who are genuinely interested in provocative, stimulating discussion not allow their Blog to fall prey to the senseless rantings of "freedom of speech" vandals when they appear. They are not worthy of any recognition what-so-ever, which by the way, is the very prescription for their removal. Failing that, do what the proctors of this site found to be neccessary...delete them!

There was a statistic on the news this morning that in census year 2006, 4 million babies were born setting a "all time" record for child birth in the United States. Of these, one half [1/2] were born out of wedlock (illegitimate). There is no reason to imagine this statistic will decrease in the future. On the contrary, there is every reason to imagine this figure will only increase in years to come. If we do some simple math, the prognosis for the future is astonishing. Should anyone be skeptical about an already troubled economy now..."we ain't seen nothin' yet!"

The operative word across the board for every candidate in both parties is "change." How silly that word seems now with the Senate railing for additional "add-ons" to the Economic Stimulus package e.g., increasing food stamp distributions for a certain income group. The Senate has always insisted on altering any Bill passing the House by "packing pork" projects to it. This, of course, will delay or possibly even bring a veto to this emergency measure for the ailing economy. Be it Republican or Democrat, only the names and faces will "change" after election 2008.
