The teacher's unions constitute the greatest long-term threat to our nation. These teachers are so afraid of competition and losing their tax-payer funded salaries, and they have little invested interest in actually producing a knowledgeable generation of competent students. Because of teacher's unions we have little chance of getting any competitive influences working in our vast government education bureaucracy. Without competition there is no excellence. Government education was iffy to begin with, teacher's unions have only guaranteed failure.

Education was the main reason I voted for Jim Davis.

He was going to take the $ incentives away from the FCAT.

Too bad Charlie doesn't do the same. Teaching to the test is dumbing our kids down and punishing the kids who do really well.

It stinks.

Although unions have become big business and most have abandoned their core people, it's not the fault of the unions. Government policy is to get the most for the least pay. If standards were high and salaries matched, we would have no need for unions. Our teachers are woefully under paid.

In the end, you DO get what you pay for.
