When I asked Voodoodog to cite his source(s) he told me to go and fish for them myself... so I did and I found out that this was actually a FALSE e-mail chain. Snopes.com has offered a full explanation as to why these "Proposed Tax Changes" are false.

BELOW I HAVE COPIED AND PASTED THE  WEBSITE IN ITS ENTIRETY.

Proposed Tax Changes
Claim: E-mail compares proposed changes in taxes after the 2008 presidential election.

Status: False.

Example: [Collected via e-mail, June 2008]

This is something you should be aware of so you don't get blind-sided. This is really going to catch a lot of families off guard. It should make you worry.

Proposed changes in taxes after 2008 General election:

CAPITAL GAINS TAX

MCCAIN: 0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.

OBAMA: 28% on profit from ALL home sales

How does this affect you?

If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes.

If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.

DIVIDEND TAX

MCCAIN: 15% (no change)

OBAMA: 39.6%

How will this affect you?

If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama become president.

The experts predict that 'higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.

Under Obama your taxes will more than double!

How does this affect you?

No explanation needed. This is pretty straight forward.

INHERITANCE TAX

MCCAIN: 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)

OBAMA: Restore the inheritance tax

How does this affect you? Many families have lost businesses, farms and ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will not only lose them to these taxes.

NEW TAXES BEING PROPOSED BY OBAMA

* New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet

* New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already)

* New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity)

* New taxes on retirement accounts and last but not least....

* New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!

Origins: Every
recent presidential election cycle has brought e-mailed forwards that paint the Democratic candidate as a proponent of a "tax and spend" philosophy (who will inevitably implement significant tax increases on taxpayers across all income levels) and present the Republican candidate as a model of fiscal conservatism, and the example quoted above fits this pattern.

However, this example is off the mark both in its broad strokes and in its particulars. According to the Tax Policy Center's analysis of the candidates' proposed tax changes, the primary difference between them would be distributional, with Senator Obama's proposals favoring lower-income taxpayers and Senator McCain's favoring higher-income taxpayers: McCain: The average taxpayer in every income group would see a lower tax bill, but high-income taxpayers would benefit more than everyone else.

Obama: High-income taxpayers would pay more in taxes, while everyone else's tax bill would be reduced. Those who benefit the most — in terms of reducing their taxes as a percentage of after-tax income — are in the lowest income groups.
The statements made about the candidates' proposals for changes in specific taxes (or implementation of new taxes) are also all erroneous or grossly misleading. as we note below: CAPITAL GAINS TAX

MCCAIN: 0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.

OBAMA: 28% on profit from ALL home sales
The statement that Senator Obama proposes instituting a 28% tax "on profit from ALL home sales" is false. Both candidates' proposals would leave intact an existing capital gains exemption for the first $500,000 per housedhold of profit from the sale of a primary residence. Homeowners who realize a profit higher than the current exemption amount from the sale of their primary residences might pay more capital gains tax under an Obama presidency than they would now, but those instances currently constitute a very small minority of all home sales. (For the purposes of this article, the term "per household" refers to married couples who file taxes jointly.)

The mention of Obama's imposing a 28% capital gains tax as president is also misleading. Senator Obama has indicated he would likely raise the capital gains tax rate, but he has not specified by how much — the 28% figure is a previous (i.e., pre-Bush) capital gains tax rate which Obama stated he would certainly not exceed while noting that his capital gains tax rate would likely be "significantly lower": Q: How do you plan to change the tax code when it comes to capital gains? How high will that 15 percent rate go?

A: Well, you know, I haven't given a firm number. Here's my belief, that we can't go back to some of the, you know, confiscatory rates that existed in the past that distorted sound economics. And I certainly would not go above what existed under Bill Clinton, which was the 28 percent. I would — and my guess would be it would be significantly lower than that. I think that we can have a capital gains rate that is higher than 15 percent.

DIVIDEND TAX

MCCAIN: 15% (no change)

OBAMA: 39.6%
The notion that Senator Obama is proposing raising the tax rate on dividend income from its current 15% level to a 39.6% is unfounded. Obama has proposed taxing dividends at the same rate as capital gains, and although he hasn't yet specified a figure for the latter, he has already stated (as noted above) that he "certainly would not go above" 28%. Also, the proposed increase would only affect households with income of more than $250,000 per year (a figure that encompasses about 2% of U.S. households.)

INCOME TAX

MCCAIN: (no changes)

Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $18,750

Married making 60K - tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $31,250

OBAMA: (reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)

Single making 30K - tax $8,400
Single making 50K - tax $14,000
Single making 75K - tax $23,250

Married making 60K - tax $16,800
Married making 75K - tax $21,000
Married making 125K - tax $38,750

Under Obama your taxes will more than double!
This is an erroneous interpretation of federal income tax rates based on the premise that Senator McCain favors extending the temporary tax cuts instituted by the Bush administration in 2001 and 2003, while Senator Obama does not. However, both senators said they would favor extending those tax cuts; the difference is that Senator Obama said he would not favor extending the tax cuts for households with incomes of $250,000 or more per year. Since none of the tax tables listed above applies to that income level, their inclusion is irrelevant and misleading. As noted at the head of this article, taxpayers in the brackets covered by these tables would likely see a greater reduction in taxes under Senator Obama's proposals than under Senator McCain's, an outcome reflected in the Tax Policy Center's estimate of how the average tax bill could change in 2009 under each candidate's proposals:

MCCAIN OBAMA Income Avg. tax bill Avg. tax bill Over $2.9M -$269,364 +$701,885 $603K and up -$45,361 +$115,974 $227K-$603K -$7,871 +$12 $161K-$227K -$4,380 -$2,789 $112K-$161K -$2,614 -$2,204 $66K-$112K -$1,009 -$1,290 $38K-$66K -$319 -$1,042 $19K-$38K -$113 -$892 Under $19K -$19 -$567

INHERITANCE TAX

MCCAIN: 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)

OBAMA: Restore the inheritance tax
Pretty much everything asserted about the inheritance tax (also referred to as "death tax" or "estate tax") in these few short statements — that President Bush repealed it, that Senator McCain would maintain it at 0%, and that Senator Obama would "restore" it — is wrong.

In general, estate tax currently applies only to estates valued at more than $2 million and tops out at a 45% rate. The exclusion amount is already set to rise to $3.5 million in 2009, followed by a repeal of the estate tax in 2010, and then a reinstatement of the estate tax in 2011 with the exclusion amount reverting back to $1 million and the tax rate topping out at 55%.

Senator McCain has proposed raising the estate tax exclusion amount to $5 million and setting a maximum estate tax rate of 15%, while Senator Obama has proposed raising the estate tax exclusion amount to $3.5 million and maintaining the maximum estate tax rate at its current 45% level.

Three of these five statements are completely erroneous: Senator Obama has not proposed a tax on "homes that are more than 2,400 square feet," any "new gasoline taxes," or "new taxes on retirement accounts."

The phrase "taxes on natural resources consumption" presumably refers to Senator Obama's "cap and trade" proposal for reducing carbon emissions, a proposal which would likely impose additional costs on polluters but isn't technically a "tax": Obama supports implementation of a market-based cap-and-trade system to reduce carbon emissions by the amount scientists say is necessary: 80 percent below 1990 levels by 2050. Obama's cap-and-trade system will require all pollution credits to be auctioned. A 100 percent auction ensures that all polluters pay for every ton of emissions they release, rather than giving these emission rights away to coal and oil companies. Some of the revenue generated by auctioning allowances will be used to support the development of clean energy, to invest in energy efficiency improvements, and to address transition costs, including helping American workers affected by this economic transition. As for "new taxes to pay for socialized medicine," Senator Obama has proposed funding his health care plan through additional revenues generated by not extending the Bush administration's temporary tax cuts for persons making more than $250,000 per year. Whether allowing a portion of already-scheduled expiration of temporary tax cuts to take place really constitutes "new taxes" is a matter of semantics.

GEORGE CARLIN
ON RELIGION

"When it comes to BLEEP, big-time, major league BLEEP, you have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of false promises and exaggerated claims, religion. No contest. No contest. Religion. Religion easily has the greatest BLEEP story ever told. Think about it. Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more. Now, you talk about a good BLEEP story. Holy BLEEP! But I want you to know something, this is sincere, I want you to know, when it comes to believing in God, I really tried. I really, really tried. I tried to believe that there is a God, who created each of us in His own image and likeness, loves us very much, and keeps a close eye on things. I really tried to believe that, but I gotta tell you, the longer you live, the more you look around, the more you realize, something is BLEEP up. Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed. Results like these do not belong on the résumé of a Supreme Being. This is the kind of BLEEP you'd expect from an office temp with a bad attitude. And just between you and me, in any decently-run universe, this guy would've been out on his all-powerful ass a long time ago. And by the way, I say "this guy", because I firmly believe, looking at these results, that if there is a God, it has to be a man. No woman could or would ever BLEEP things up like this. So, if there is a God, I think most reasonable people might agree that he's at least incompetent, and maybe, just maybe, doesn't give a BLEEP. Doesn't give a BLEEP, which I admire in a person, and which would explain a lot of these bad results. So rather than be just another mindless religious robot, mindlessly and aimlessly and blindly believing that all of this is in the hands of some spooky incompetent father figure who doesn't give a BLEEP, I decided to look around for something else to worship. Something I could really count on. And immediately, I thought of the sun. Happened like that. Overnight I became a sun-worshipper. Well, not overnight, you can't see the sun at night. But first thing the next morning, I became a sun-worshipper. Several reasons. First of all, I can see the sun, okay? Unlike some other gods I could mention, I can actually see the sun. I'm big on that. If I can see something, I don't know, it kind of helps the credibility along, you know? So everyday I can see the sun, as it gives me everything I need; heat, light, food, flowers in the park, reflections on the lake, an occasional skin cancer, but hey. At least there are no crucifixions, and we're not setting people on fire simply because they don't agree with us. Sun worship is fairly simple. There's no mystery, no miracles, no pageantry, no one asks for money, there are no songs to learn, and we don't have a special building where we all gather once a week to compare clothing. And the best thing about the sun, it never tells me I'm unworthy. Doesn't tell me I'm a bad person who needs to be saved. Hasn't said an unkind word. Treats me fine. So, I worship the sun. But, I don't pray to the sun. Know why? I wouldn't presume on our friendship. It's not polite. I've often thought people treat God rather rudely, don't you? Asking trillions and trillions of prayers every day. Asking and pleading and begging for favors. Do this, gimme that, I need a new car, I want a better job. And most of this praying takes place on Sunday His day off. It's not nice. And it's no way to treat a friend. But people do pray, and they pray for a lot of different things, you know, your sister needs an operation on her crotch, your brother was arrested for defecating in a mall. But most of all, you'd really like to BLEEP that hot little redhead down at the convenience store. You know, the one with the eyepatch and the clubfoot? Can you pray for that? I think you'd have to. And I say, fine. Pray for anything you want. Pray for anything, but what about the Divine Plan? Remember that? The Divine Plan. Long time ago, God made a Divine Plan. Gave it a lot of thought, decided it was a good plan, put it into practice. And for billions and billions of years, the Divine Plan has been doing just fine. Now, you come along, and pray for something. Well suppose the thing you want isn't in God's Divine Plan? What do you want Him to do? Change His plan? Just for you? Doesn't it seem a little arrogant? It's a Divine Plan. What's the use of being God if every run-down shmuck with a two-dollar prayerbook can come along and BLEEP up Your Plan? And here's something else, another problem you might have: Suppose your prayers aren't answered. What do you say? "Well, it's God's will." "Thy Will Be Done." Fine, but if it's God's will, and He's going to do what He wants to anyway, why the BLEEP bother praying in the first place? Seems like a big waste of time to me! Couldn't you just skip the praying part and go right to His Will? It's all very confusing. So to get around a lot of this, I decided to worship the sun. But, as I said, I don't pray to the sun. You know who I pray to? Joe Pesci. Two reasons: First of all, I think he's a good actor, okay? To me, that counts. Second, he looks like a guy who can get things done. Joe Pesci doesn't BLEEP around. In fact, Joe Pesci came through on a couple of things that God was having trouble with. For years I asked God to do something about my noisy neighbor with the barking dog, Joe Pesci straightened that BLEEP out with one visit. It's amazing what you can accomplish with a simple baseball bat. So I've been praying to Joe for about a year now. And I noticed something. I noticed that all the prayers I used to offer to God, and all the prayers I now offer to Joe Pesci, are being answered at about the same 50% rate. Half the time I get what I want, half the time I don't. Same as God, 50-50. Same as the four-leaf clover and the horseshoe, the wishing well and the rabbit's foot, same as the Mojo Man, same as the Voodoo Lady who tells you your fortune by squeezing the goat's testicles, it's all the same: 50-50. So just pick your superstition, sit back, make a wish, and enjoy yourself. And for those of you who look to The Bible for moral lessons and literary qualities, I might suggest a couple of other stories for you. You might want to look at the Three Little Pigs, that's a good one. Has a nice happy ending, I'm sure you'll like that. Then there's Little Red Riding Hood, although it does have that X-rated part where the Big Bad Wolf actually eats the grandmother. Which I didn't care for, by the way. And finally, I've always drawn a great deal of moral comfort from Humpty Dumpty. The part I like the best? "All the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't put Humpty Dumpty back together again." That's because there is no Humpty Dumpty, and there is no God. None, not one, no God, never was. In fact, I'm gonna put it this way. If there is a God, may he strike this audience dead! See? Nothing happened. Nothing happened? Everybody's okay? All right, tell you what, I'll raise the stakes a little bit. If there is a God, may he strike me dead. See? Nothing happened, oh, wait, I've got a little cramp in my leg. And my balls hurt. Plus, I'm blind. I'm blind, oh, now I'm okay again, must have been Joe Pesci, huh? God Bless Joe Pesci. Thank you all very much. Joe Bless You!"

It is so sad to know that a brilliant man who brought the truth out and laid it on the table is now gone forever. George Carlin was truly something else. He was a TRUE defender of our freedoms and our rights, and was willing to say exactly what was on his mind even if it meant that he would get arrested. George Carlin may you rest in peace and keep and bless yourself!

Powell Does Not Rule out Supporting Obama

By Glenn Kessler
"Former Secretary of State Colin L. Powell, who served in President Bush's first term, suggested yesterday he may vote for presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama, according to a report in Canada's Globe and Mail newspaper.

The newspaper, covering a speech Powell gave in Vancouver, reported that Powell -- who was also Ronald Reagan's national security adviser -- said he was not ruling out a vote for Obama and he would not automatically support Sen. John McCain.

"I will vote for the individual I think that brings the best set of tools to the problems of 21st-century America and the 21st-century world regardless of party, regardless of anything else other than the most qualified candidate," Powell said at a news conference before delivering the speech, the newspaper reported. "Both of them certainly have the qualifications to be the president of the United States, but both of them cannot be."

Asked whether he thought it was a difficult choice, he said: "I think so. Yes."

Powell noted that although both he and Mr. Obama are black he would not cast a vote for the Illinois senator on the basis of race

Powell in 1996 considered running for president as a Republican. But his tenure as Bush's Secretary of State was troubled as he found himself often on the losing side of arguments with more conservative members of the administration, such as Vice president Cheney. He also made it clear his fury at being asked to present intelligence on Iraq to the United Nations that turned out to be wrong."

I would love to hear comments from everyone regarding this. I would ESPECIALLY like to hear from many of the hardcore Republicans who dislike Obama but support Powell. Many people are saying although he mentioned McCain he is most likely going to vote for Obama. Powell has also been quoted saying that he is proud of the accomplishments of the Obama Campaign.

I just heard someone from tonight’s Fox 11 News Broadcast say “sources at TMZ have been saying that it took Britney THREE hours just to get admitted because of her behavior." Well folks, I was admitted to the Santa Monica UCLA emergency room last night, and I can definitely tell you that three hours is a LONG time to wait before seeing the physician or psychiatrist. In fact, there was a drug addict and alcoholic right outside of my room, and even with his yelling, screaming, cursing, and abusive treatment towards the medical staff it only took the admissions department 30 minutes to admit and register him! Keep in mind that this was an emergency room during FLU SEASON!!!!!!!!  It only took them about an hour and a half to get me admitted, registered, and in a bed with an IV running through me.

Someone please tell me that I’m not the only one who sees a BIG problem with this!

** If you ever have a medical emergency and live on the Westside SMUCLA is the best hospital, with the sweetest and most knowledgeable doctors and RN's.

With the recent drama that Paris, Nicole, and Lindsay have started many people are now starting to look around and see if the young adults around them are exhibiting similar behavior. From nonstop clubbing, to excessive drinking, and "casual" drug use chances are that the young people around you have entered this life altering world. Whether it’s getting that FAKE ID and getting into Les Duex or Mood or even taking that ID to the local liquor store and buying alcohol chances are that most young people have done it at least once in their life. Being a college student who isn't yet old enough to go out to these clubs I know how tempting it can be to take my form of identification and use it to get into these "glamorous" clubs. My view on the "glamorous" club scene has changed, I've always known that people bring pot and cocaine to these clubs and up until now I never really cared, however by going to these clubs and being in the vicinity of these illegal activities I have decided that I am just as guilty for supporting the clubs that know about these illegal activities and are condoning the behavior of the club goers by allowing them to stay.

The celebrities that make this sort of life look glamorous and appealing don't realize that the younger men and women who are looking at their lifestyle don't understand that the life that is being presented to them is actually very dangerous. I think that we as a society need to take this situation more seriously because knowing how foolish young adults can be more and more people will start being dying while following the footsteps of these careless celebrities.

People need to know that when they drink or drive or get high and drive that its not only their lives that they are putting in danger but the lives of innocent people as well.  This applies to everyone, next time you have one drink too many, take a hit, snort a line, or do something that impairs your judgment stay home, get a driver, or call a cab. I don’t want to be the one suffering  because of YOUR actions.

For those of you who don't know what a Crackberry is... its a Blackberry, Sidekick, Treo, and that ugly phone that Verizon makes.  The reason why I call them Crackberrys is because I have a Blackberry and that’s my version of crack , I'm addicted to using it.

Recently, I've noticed that people are abusing their right to use their Crackberrys while driving. The other day I was driving on Topanga Canyon Road and this idiot in a Range Rover was trying to compose an e-mail or text message while driving. He almost clipped my car and because I was speeding It had the potential to be a really bad accident. Stupid people like the one I just mentioned are ruining things for people like me. As some of you know starting January 1, 2008 drivers that are seen using their cellular phones and PDA devices without an ear piece or speakerphone will be cited.

IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO TEXT OR E-MAIL WHILE DRIVING, DON'T DO IT!
