So I don't know about all of you but I am tired of the bad news sports stories we have been talking about lately...I want to talk about something I am WAY ready for...the start of football season!!!!!!!!!!

It's NFL and NCAA time and I want to know who you support...who you don't and who are your favorite players?  Let's also make predictions....for the nfl...BCS way too hard to predict although USC is a clear pre-season number one.

I'll give a little commentary then I'll make my picks.

1. In college I think there aren't many teams that will compete but I do see USCn and LSU leading the pack.  Most of you know I am a Missouri Tiger Alum so I will be pulling for my much improved Tigers this year..they should win the Big 12 North.  USC should far and away lead the pack in all of college football this year, but I have to say UCLA is rumored to be much improved and should win nine or ten games.

2.  In the NFL I will come right out and say that I am a Saints and Chiefs fan.  Sorry Radier Nation.  I have ben a chiefs fan since I could walk andI fell in love with the Saints while I lived in New Orleans and the love affair continues.  Can't say I think the Cheifs will be a contender this year but I do always love that Chiefs/Raiders matchup and if you have never seen a game at Arrowhead Stadium..go.  It's amazing.

    So here are my picks (short form) for the NFl.  I think the Saints and Patriots will go to the Superbowl and I'm saying right nowto my boss....if the Saints are in the big game in Phoenix and I'm not covering it I need to be off so I can go I will give anything to be there.  I think both of those teams are deep this year...the Patriots just do it well and I think Randy Moss is ready to prove to the NFL ge isn't a has been and he's not!  The Saints are lacking a bit in the receiver department but they are young and fast...and what do they say..you can't teach speed.  They got rid of Joe Horn, who is a good player, but in my opinion over hyped so let the Falcons take on "Hollywood"  They have improved on defense in the offense so I say Geaux Saints!

   So my favorite players right now are pretty simple: Deuce McAllister (Saints Running Back) for a bunch of reasons....One because he is a great friend of mine and two he is a bruiser and a work horse and since Reggie Bush got there he has been quietly getting the job done with no fanfare (y'all better recognize).  By the way, Deuceis 20 punds lighter this year and faster...He worked really hard during the off-season and he is ready.  If you guys remember that first playoff gameast year 26 put the saints on his back literally and carried them to victory.  My other fav player is Ray Lewis...simply because he is a snot rocker....I love the big hits and he is the king of them. 

   I am a big fan of the NFl but I'll give you guys guesses what my all time favorite sport is:  if you watch the show you may know...let the games begin you have a lot to answer!

I am ALSO so ready for the football season. I have been watching the NFL channel with oldie games so you know I am jonezing! The Chiefs are my team because you and I share our hometown! I am from Columbia, too..grad of Hickman HS Class of 1976! Go Kewpies (I hate that name:)) I am certain I know your folks as the Turners are a big and mighty clan in Columbia, right!

I am so proud to see you each morning and its always nice to see someone from the hometown make good.but do me a favor STOP making Coluumbia sound like such a hicktown ... Columbia was a great place to grow up and I look back at those times with great love...

I graduated from Mizzou in 1980 and have live all over the world and when people ask me where I got my smarts, where I got my wit...I tell them COLUMBIA MO...be proud Sista...you're representing a great city!

Hey KGarrett--

Glad to hear you are from Columbia. Sorry if you don't get my humor but when I talk about Columbia I am purely joking! I love Columbia, but to be honest I AM COUNTRY and I am proud of that. My family IS country..my uncles wear big smiths and cowboy boots and ten gallons....we are country! My mother lives on a gravel road and when people ask where she lives she says "in the country" when people ask where you are going when you go to her house everyone says "to the country". Sorry, if you think it makes Columbia sound like a hicktown but it's still country home to me. Believe me though I am VERY proud of where I am from and always will be.

By the way, I am a Bruin but my mother is a Kewpie...she graduated in 1974.

I know a positive sport. It requires one to be near a reservoir, and fast reactions. Yes I am talking about the sport of "Dragonfly Fling" where you must act quickly in a green shirt and get the most grotesque expressions upon your face while flinging that sucka...back where he belongs! Its a great sport and only skilled "Field Reporters" have such talents... ;)

Hey there Nichelle Girl in that picture of yourself up there you should be chewing on a piece of straw like I am!!! Country in the city your mom must worry like I worry for my girl down there LOL
And yeah lets get this Football going!!Pre-season aaah its just not enough yet it helps!!!!

Nischelle,

Is there any team in the college ranks that can beat 'SC? I'm not a fan of theirs, but I'd be shocked if they were beaten this year. I think the only team that truly has a shot against them is Cal, because the game is in Northern California.

And it's tough to pick against the Saints, although they won't be sneaking up on anyone this season. But still, they should go 12-4.

yes football real football not soccer they call futbol..who cares about this beckham dude like hes the gretzky of soccer..who cares ..I'm a fsu collage fan but sc is the team to beat as they were last year..screw florida..in the pros i know you Love the saints but they were a total fluke..if they win 9 games it will be a miracle..the real team to beat is San Diego..you know one of L.A.s original two teams ..with one of the best players in football L.T. to play the game ever the chargers are going to be hard to beat..i for one am a RAM fan..Ive been so all my life even when i grew up back east i was a ram fan so what if they moved from here its this towns fault ..this is not a real sports town anyway if they were they wouldn't give a damn about a soccer team they would try to get the NFL back here..this is the 2nd largest market in the U.S...there is no reason why the Houston Texans even exist..we should have gotten a franchise..dump that armpit colosseum build a state of art stadium ..and bring real football back to L.A.

sebar--very funny. that damn dragonfly was bigger than my fist! i really just about lost it! I knew that video was coming back to haunt me so enjoy!!!!! It's good for a couple good gut busting laughs.

ddain--not sure if there is anyone on USC's schedule that can beat them. I agree with you Cal may be the best shot...in the big game I think LSU or Florida may give them a run for their money but at the end of the day I just think USC will be too deep and too strong to be beaten.

brenda--agreed...preseason doesn't pack the same punch but I have to tell you I was in Vegas last week and I was in a restaurant when a bunch of Saints fans walked in with jersey's on (they were playing a preseason game). It was so much fun and I felt like okay here we go so that is what got me so amped already.

crafty--rams fan? oh my. no self respecting football fan from Missouri is a Rams fan so you can have them. I agree San Diego is a very good team but Norv Turner hasn't proven his worth as a HEAD coach just yet ffor me to totally buy into them just yet.

and kgarrett--the Turner's are a mighty bunch in Columbia...you know us when you see us and we are everywhere...so look out!!!!

"R U READY FO SUM FOOTBALL"..........I know I am. I luv me sum football. I'm not very good with predictions, although I did predict the Colts to win the Superbowl and boy did the pull it out 4 ya girl.............
This season....um, I think I like the Ravens.....They have a very talented squad, and Im so ready to see Ray Lewis be MVP of the Superbowl......Yeah, that's whatz up.

hey all--

what--ravens are a good pick...they just might surprise us all i think ray lewis is a god among men on the football field..just sick to watch

doug--Jillian is coming back to the NFL this season she will debut in about three weeks with terry, howie, jimmy and curt...gonna be fun to have the gang back in the studio every week. Jill is a huge part of that show and I love the back and forth with her and Terry. and no not nascar...try again.

cee--no not basketball or boxing although I like them both not my fav...I'll give you guys a couple more guesses. I have to say I think Mike Vick is pretty much done for....he is in REAL trouble...I'll talk more about that once his plea is entered.

Nischelle came to FOX 11 in September of 2004 and in January of 2005 became a permanent member of Good Day LA. In August of 2005 Nischelle returned to New Orleans to report on Hurricane Katrina. It was during those 14 days covering the aftermath of the storm that changed Nischelle forever.
