I'm Yawning......all day everyday.  I can't sleep!!!!!  Now I know Many of you say....Nischelle I really don't care, but this is starting to get ridiculous!  I have a really screwed up schedule anyway, so sometimes it's hard to go to sleep but for the past week I haven't gotten ANY!!!!!  Here's what happens....I get in bed at the samt time about 7:30 everynight and try to go to sleep but I just can't do it...so I end up siutting there staring at the walls listening to the cars go by...then about 10:30 or eleven I say oh well and turn on the television and catch the end of the news...then i try to go back to sleep again...no dice..this goes on repeatedly until about one am then I finally fall into a little naptime...until my alarm goes off at TWO AM!!!!!  It's so horrible. So I go through the day in a trance until it happens again the next night.

I have tried everything....warm bath...hot tea...cold shower...reading...not reading....meditating....glass of wine...shot of whiskey! LOL!  The only thing I don't do and it's cause I'm wierd about medicine and I don;t like to take pills...is sleeping pill.  I really need some help.

What do you guys do to cure insomnia?  No porn references please...I've already heard it from everyone of my friends!

HOLLA!

Hi Nischelle,

First thing... Get the TV out of your bedroom. You should set your mind to feel that the bedroom is for sleeping (and other non-TV activities).

Do you work out? Physical activity can definately help. I don't recommend it close to bedtime.

I am sure that your career has a million things running around your head at all times. Focus on leaving those thoughts outside of your bedroom. Once your enter your bedroom door, its sleeping time.

Good luck and sweet dreams.

nischelle i have sleeping problems too.
pills are not the answer, they will make you feel worse.
i agree with ^ the 1st post,i know that you excercise but t.v.is bad.
what you really need is massage(i would be willing).
or maybe a long vacation? (i would be willing).
or,have enough money to never have to work again(i would be uncappable).
or just sleep in and show up late like everone else.

I agree with wooopa....exercise...not to close to your bedtime though, when you get a chance at some point in the day go for a run or a strenuous walk....that will help.

Also......when you find that you wake up again after dosing off for awhile (I saw this on Oprah) and you can't get back to sleep, they say to close your eyes and clear your mind of all thoughts.....and just focus on the blackness, it takes practice but eventually it gets easier.....if you find your mind wanders, clear it again and focus on the blackness, try it again and again until you master it, next thing you know you have had yourself a good nights rest. I have done it it works.

Sweet Dreams

oops....I forgot, as you stare into the darkness.....you are to listen only to your breathing, focus on your breathing.

Can't sleep? Secretagogue gold will make you sleep deeper and unlade like bowl movements.

Get the Suzanne Sommers book "the juice of life." All my female clients have read it and take Secretagogue Gold.

You wonder why I am the way I am. Cuz my clients won't stop talking about their great sex lives.

With all the free-radicals affecting your life, you can't afford to be without proper exercise, supplementation & nutrition.

hi nischelle, if you are taking a nap in the afternoon it does not surprise me that you would be wide awake in the evening! maybe you have anxiety and your brain could be too active when you'd like to be falling asleep. i can fall asleep with the TV on, but often i like to read at night or if i awaken in the middle of the night. i have a presecription for (Restoril) temazepam which is a drug that is used for treating anxiety. It is in the benzodiazepine class of drugs, the same family that includes diazepam (Valium), alprazolam (Xanax), clonazepam (Klonopin), flurazepam (Dalmane), lorazepam (Ativan), and others. Temazepam and other benzodiazepines act by enhancing the effects of gamma- aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain. GABA is a neurotransmitter (a chemical messenger that nerve cells use to communicate with each other) that inhibits many of the activities of the brain. It is believed that excessive activity in the brain may lead to anxiety or other psychiatric disorders and that temazepam reduces the activity. Try meds!

I feel your pain Nichelle, I'm not an insomniac but I do that that over active mind thing when your trying to sleep. You know, everything that you can possibly think of comes to mind as you're trying to sleep, that whole deal. What I do is actually focus on not thinking. I know that sounds weird but it works for me? lol

Anyway, have you tryed TWO shots of whiskey? Hahaha jk.

Hi Nischelle, I know you mentioned you tried meditating...BUT I suggest you revisit the whole notion of meditating (again). Try stretching and try clearing your mind....and girl if that doesn't work...throw on some Barry White (or Teddy!) and dream on!!!!

Have you tried a glass of healthy red wine. Thins your blood, prevents stroke and heart attack and oh, makes you drowsy and sleepy too...Cheers!!!

There is also one other thing that may help. In my younger days when I was jet-setting and going resort snow skiing all over the country, we used to get this "Alpine" Apple Cider that the resorts served in a hot mug. They sell it now in packets, but give it a try. It simply mixes in with hot water and stir. For some reason it has a soothing and very sleepy after effect as well (Unspiked of course!). I believe that Ralph's supermarkets stocks it in a box of about 10 small packages, usually where you find coffee or hot chocolate. I know when I used to have that at frigid ski resorts especially after night skiing, it used to and still does help me sleep quite well. It is a non-alcoholic way rather than the glass of red wine. Give it a try...For even better results, go to the herbs section and get a small jar of real cinnamon sticks to stir it with. For a real treat you can get at Ralph's a bottle of ice cream topping caramel and pour some in the mug with the apple cider. Add some whipped cream atop the mug and you essentially have created a caramel apple cider drink, a very delicious treat indeed.

When my Dad could not sleep, he used to drink a cup of warm milk... sometimes with a touch of honey or sugar and a little bit of vanilla. It is sort of like a vanilla hot chocolate drink... it's yummy and soothing.

There are also many tea's that are supposed to help you relax and sleep. Whole Foods has a good selection.

Nischelle, if you were a little crafty & on the wild side, you could probably get some man meat to come over, and after a long day, slip you a hot toddy and a little feet worship.

Is that something you might be interested in?

well nischelle, i can't sleep at all at times too. so what do i do??? i tend to put on a movie or watch some wrestling. any video that is really long, like the lord of the rings. in time i'll nod off, and bam, i'm sleeping. too bad the tv stays up all night, and what sucks, is that once someone turns it off it will instantly wake you up. that's what i seem to notice. but it works. so try it, and if your able to, set up the tv to shut off automatically in like 3 hours.

Sup Nischelle,

I agree with what beepbeep said...
I know you are sought after in a major way but you need someone that makes you happy and COMFORTABLE in all facets of your life which in turn will make SLEEPING and RESTING easier..
That way you can rest easy when that person is with you and when you are alone because you will be COMFORTABLE with your relationship and situation..
Having said that, I volunteer for this duty as I am the perfect candidate for maximizing your COMFORT to get you to sleep and everything else in between...
