I am sick to death of the leftist weenies constant harping about their rights being trampled by the Bush administration. Give me one example of how your rights have been diminished or compromised. NO, not the "rights" of terrorists - YOUR rights. Has someone from "the government" broken into your home to conduct a warrantless search? Have you been denied right to counsel after being charged with a crime? I didn't think so.

Another drum that they constantly beat is this assertion that the Bush administration is involved with untold clandestine operations. If you ask me, these "operations" that bother you so have kept us free of terrorist attacks here in the USA for over six years. God help us if we ever have to kowtow to the New York Times philosophy and publish our plans for covert anti-terror operations.

I say "shut up" and let the government do the one thing that they HAVE gotten right - keeping us free of terrorist attacks.

I agree, but let's remember that there are weenies on the Right too. One of them posts here. Although a Conservative, I do not think President Betty is doing a good job.

I agree, Effing.

And right you are, too, Vitt. Washington is "Weenie City". There are plenty of things that I can fault GWB and Co. for, namely immigration, spending...the list goes on. But I have to give them credit for preventing further attacks (YD and Co attribute this to dumb luck).

IMHO, we haven't been tough enough on the terrorists. And I don't give a damn about their rights - they have none. They took off the gloves first. I say waterboard the he!! out of them - just DON'T have a video camera present.

..."He who sacrifices security for freedom deserves neither." ~ Ben Franklin

...There is absolutely no proof that any terrorist attacks have been prevented in the US since 9/11. All those incidents paraded on TV have yet to produce any convictions of terrorist acts. Even Osama Bin Laden has not been officially charged with any crime. Google it and check behind me, learn something for crying out loud!!

...From less then one minutes effort I found one article that Bush stated over 200 convictions when an analysis of the Justice Department's own list of terrorism prosecutions by The Washington Post shows that 39 people.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/20
05/06/11/AR2005061100381.html

...Then, this article refutes those 39 as illegal immigrant workers that got jobs at airports and committed no crime other then providing falsified documents to gain employment, and of course, being illegal aliens.

...On to address your other points. The legal definition of terrorism has been distorted and broadly applied in H.R. 1955, the "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007"(google this if nothing else)

...The term `homegrown terrorism’ means the use, planned use, or threatened use, of force or violence by a group or individual born, raised, or based and operating primarily within the United States or any possession of the United States to intimidate or coerce the United States government, the civilian population of the United States, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.

...Force OR violence, implying to separate definitions. The bill defines the word "force" as "a term meaning the use or threatened use of force or violence by a group or individual born, raised, or based within the United States, to intimidate or coerce the United States Government, its population or any segment thereof in furtherance of political or social objectives."

...A boycott, protest, ideological debate of dissent towards any government policy, literally anything could make you a terrorist by definition. So I guess your fear is a self-fulfilling prophecy huh?

...I do apologize for the multiple posts, but one thing to be addressed about hr 1955 is that it was passed by the house, but not yet by the senate, as I didn't intend to imply that this bill is law as of yet.

Except for the fact that there have been none. That's good enough for me until someone proves that our efforts truly have been for naught.

Seems we have already forgotten the Chicago Six or the one at the Canadian border heading for LAX.How about the two caught speeding through N/C with so called "Fireworks" I'm sure they were just out for a joy ride that close to a holding area for terrorist. You here it on the news all the time because the US and Britian along with other countries communicate to one another and stop these terrorist acts. What about the transatlantic flight from England to the US they planned to blow up over the water......How soon we forget :-(

shame that we (well not we but a lot of idiots) forget how our soil was invaded..i chalk it up to uneducated, hypocritical, morons that only follow a lost crowd. Oh yea, stand together and cry when all so many people lost their lives, and then when we don't agree w/ something that we really know NOTHING about, let's all just separate and show how we can't stand together as a nation and all we do is blame Bush..sounds like a master recipe for another attack..I don't agree w/ everything either and I'm neither Republican or Democrat,I'm an American w/ common sense and voice my freedom of speech..I'm not afraid.. one thing I do KNOW is Bush had the balls to do what he said he was going to do..and Chang, what's YOUR logic?? maybe you should read a little more and quit following that lost crowd

There has been terrorist attacks in the U.S. since 9/11. Virginia Tech massacre was a cowardly act by a lunatic, but he is not considered a terrorist? D.C.sniper was another terrorist act, yet they were not of Middle Eastern dissent. Bush has only made more hatred for the U.S., he is only making more enemies. You say shut up? People have Freedom of Speech and can say whatever they want? I have been denied the right to legal counsel when I was younger after being charged with a crime, which was later thrown out of court.
Alberta Spruill
On May 16, 2003, 57-year-old Alberta Spruill died of a heart attack shortly after police mistakenly raided her Harlem, New York, apartment for drugs. The office of the city medical examiner attributed her death to "the stress and the fear that she experienced" during the raid. This was a no-knock warrant that was the wrong address from an informant, this lady had nothing to do with drugs.

All of the Terrorist on 9/11, well most of them were from Saudi Arabia, not Iraq. Iraq didn't attack us, Saddam Hussein did not have anything to do with 9/11, NOTHING! We took him out of power, and he was an evil man, but know we are arming his henchmen? Bush is responsible for the Blowback. He said we were going to liberate Iraq and not be occupiers, if you think this war is going to be over anytime soon, then stop thinking! We freed the Iraqies from Saddam, and now we are arming his henchmen, how does that make any sense? Why aren't we focusing on Bin Laden, he is the one everyone wants DEAD! He was responsible for 9/11. He is the one we should punish, not the people of Iraq. Bush is a blood thirsty war monger, he came into office with the economy in a recession and will leave it the same way.

...I read non-stop myboblue, and think for myself, unlike you it seems, with your regurgitation of the fear propaganda line.

...Ok shorty, one at a time, the Chicago six were animal rights and eco-activists and were charged under the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act of 2006 which expands the definition of a terrorist to include anyone that causes financial damage to a company that is involved with or is deals with animals or animal testing.
http://www.heartland.org/Article.cfm?artId=18791

They were arrested for threatening e-mails, lite night prank calls, and picketing residences of employees and vandalism and under this law considered terrorists, you get this point on a technicality of the broadening of the definition of the word, but they were hardly what we think of as terrorists, as in they didn't commit any acts of violence. By this definition any boycotts, protests, or formal campaign speaking out against animal rights abuses would be considered terrorism.
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=s109-

...The "fireworks" joyride in Goose Creek SC, they were never charged with any act of terrorism.

...The transatlantic flight, that was foiled by the Brits, not the US, as is the topic of this discussion.

...It's important not to jump and cower every time Fox or whoever comes out with breaking news of a terrorist being captured, 9 times out of ten they jump the gun on their reporting speculative claims and somehow we never hear about it when the allegations turned out to be false. More then just a little skepticism is definitely warranted.

Which plane hit WTC7? What was the name of the Brother of Bush, was it Marvin Bush who was head of security at the trade center? Bush had the Balls to lie to the public, he said he was going to Bring Bin Laden to justice? That is what he had the balls to say myboyblue, but he didn't do it! I am pretty sure chAng does his fair share of reading, and not books with pictures only like yours? Bush is a blood thirsty war monger!

...The main point of this blog is that No_Effing_Way is justifying the rationality that is being pushed since 9/11 that we are no longer "innocent until proven guilty" but rather "guilty until proven innocent."

...That under the accusation of "terrorism" the suspect has no rights, and with the broadening of the definition of terrorism, such as plainly illustrated in the "Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act of 2006", and the "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act", we ALL are losing our rights, with the broadening of suspicion being placed even on anyone with an opposing view of government policies or action.

and you think any other president would be different?? our government as a whole is corrupt, the president doesn't make all the rules, if the cabinet doesn't back him, actions won't pass. it seems that EVERYONE backed him in the beginning, now the same ones (in government and the public) turn their back on him..how do you think that looks to other countries?? it's an open door to another terrorist attack..as i said, i'm neither Democrat or Republican I'm an independant thinking AMERICAN! there's A LOT more going on than what you think, the FBI and CIA are 2 of the most corrupt agencies, everyone we elect into power is corrupt..they all have skeletons and work together as a whole..not one person can make rules for our country.
Bush didn't start all this terrorism, he tried to stop it..and if you do read, you will know that Clinton had a chance to stop a lot of this..The clinton justice dept brushed the WTC attack in "93 aside..the FBI was warned..yadda yadda..read about it .. Bush wasn't a part of it and it seems to me everyone wants to blame him for EVERYTHING that goes wrong in their lives. He may be one of the most hated people in the world and some of these people don't even know why they hate him, they just follow the crowd and believe he started this whole mess ...and yes this war is failing and yes the best way to end all this is to withdraw and never stick our noses in another country's business..but then American's would BLEEP over economy inflation and then once there's another attack, they will blame Bush and want something done with whomever else is elected as

president. if you feel your rights have been trampled on, they have, bottom line, you live in a very F-d world full of terrorists wanting to cut our throats, do you want to be protected or do you want to keep bitching and blaming Bush?? wake up and and smell the coffee...i travel DAILY, I fly for an airline, my rights have been completely violated..we have our bags checked more than what a normal joe does..i'm not bitching, i'm glad someone is doing their job to protect us. I flew for Pan Am in 88 when 103 was bombed, i lost 4 friends, New Year's eve in 88, i had a flight to Frankfurt, a bomb was on my flight IT WAS COVERED UP! I lost a dozen of friends on 9/11..etc..I don't care if it's Libya, Iraq, Iran, they are all the same..they are all out for blood, and it will never end.So chang, there are no terrorist's attacks being reported? well if you consider the ones being covered up i guess so, otherwise, there's been a few..and rick johnson, if bin laden can't be found how can he be brought to justice??

...Bin Laden was never officially charged with the acts of 9/11.

...A Bush supporter justifying the faults of the current administration by pointing the finger elsewhere... that's irrelevant.

...And I'm sorry to hear about your losses, but you're calling for vengeance doesn't justify an illegal occupation of two countries and the deaths of so many thousands of lives.

...We should not be so quick to call upon the federal government to protect us, giving them more power over our personal lives and robbing us of our rights. It will lead to us being bound in an oppressive world of fear and hopelessness, where there is no security from the whims of those in power of the state.

...It defies logic to undo the workings of our founding fathers in this manner. If you're so afraid and demand protection, then buy a gun, we still have that right, for the most part.

so chang, you suggest carrying a gun? LOL!!! yea that's gonna stop a terrorist from bombing our country..first of all, i have a gun for my own personal protection..thank God for the Bush administration, that right hasn't been taken away, but if it was up to a democrat, we wouldn't be allowed to own a firearm, we would have to sit around and sing kumba ya and ask for peace..but that's another subject...
so what do you suggest we need to do besides carry a gun (which i never stated i was afraid, but anyway)to stop terrorism?? HMMM??? It really seems to me that you follow that lost crowd, but hey, freedom of speech and thought, you can say and think what you want, and so can i..also, i don't agree w/ the feds, and i wish it was different, but who else do we have to organize this country?? if this was aperfect world, everyone would get along, it's not..if we as a country would stick together, it would only make us stronger, that will never happen..this entire country is divided by poloitics, religion, and money. You're either Demo., Repub. or Independent, your either catholic, christian etc.. you're either rich, poor, or middle class.. this one hates this one that one hates that one so on and so forth...where do you think you're going to get the "right" answer when everyone believes differently?? so how can we not depend on the fed. gov. to have our backs?? we elect them in..maybe it's time EVERYONE stands together and demand that all of congress gets flushed and start over...there's no reason for these people in congress to be on the board for as long as they are.. Ted kenned

.. Ted Kennedy has been in congress since '62 he's an alcoholic and he's being paid to just "be there"..this kind of crap needs to end, and the majority needs to make this happen..we need a president that has served his country, we need a new congress of everyday people like you and I...we have too many snakes, it's not our government, it's the people running it..and we as Americans have lost all control of what we are a major part of

...Congressional elections happen every two years, so vote.

...I wouldn't be in such praise of Bush about gun rights, as he gave FEMA the authority to take away all weapons from citizens in Katrina, so it would be also if he ever were to declare a national emergency via his power of executive orders.

...So you think we should all cower in fear and plead for a nanny state to wipe our dirty bottoms for us? A police state to keep the populace at gunpoint in order to save us from ourselves? You may get what you're asking for, and then you'll see where I'm coming from. I'm just showing the danger of big government and unbridled power that goes un-checked, and how it can easily be turned against us for the advantage of the "ruling class."

...You need to re-think your needy-ness, and instead take on the personal responsibility it takes to be free. You can't be free without taking on responsibility, so we can't make the federal government responsible for our safety. That's why there is a trade of freedom for security, and we should oppose any such thing.
