Had a chance to cover Mike Huckabee up close and personal at the lovely Marriott Courtyard in West LA.   Very low key. no entourage, seemed like a nice enough guy... if he was leading the pack you'd never know it.     Will be seeing him and everyone else in Iowa in a week or so ... never been to the Iowa caucus before.. looking forward to it.   Long hours but fun... except for the weather.  Got Goretex boots...that's the key.....!!!!!!

I saw your interview with Huckabee. Pleasant talk. Why does KTTV send a reporter to Iowa? Does not Fox have an affiliate in Des Moines? Get something intersting to tell us. Please don't go to restaurants seeking the common Iowan. maybe go to Home Depot or a shopping mall to find normal people who are not truck drivers. try to talk to a few black Iowans. ask everyone if they were born in Iowa. How did their ancestors decide to move to Iowa. How are Iowans different from people who moved to California? What impression does Lieberman's endorsement of McCain give people who watch the news? Talk to fat people-- they are interesting on TV. I'm thrilled you get the Iowa duty. Show us informative, interesting stuff.

Phil,

I hope you have a great time in Iowa! I'd be curious to get your take on whether the media leans toward the left, center, or right in Iowa. I've seen some blogs from Cleveland...I thought they were far left, while Philly was toward center. It's interesting to see just where people see things from different environments.

A little light reading before the Republican Convention in Minneapolis - St Paul... say what you will about John and Barack... they both have fascinating though dramatically different life stories...and are happy to share them . Going to big events like the conventions one of the best parts of being a news reporter here at Fox 11.. been in LA since '83... aside from the traffic it's awesome.. why wouldn't you want to live here ? I have a great job.. the people here are fun... I get to do what we call ''long form'' stories, investigations, half hour specials.. we can really get into some serious issues here... ( no not Britney). Someday i hope to meet Jillian. Later.
