Sitting in traffic on my home away from home, the 405 , listening to radio news... and hear the state's likely laying off thousands of teachers due to our alleged budget crunch.. i'm thinking.. what kind of country do we live in when we're spending a    BILLION  and change per month in Iraq for very dubious reasons while we lay off teachers ?  Don't get me started.

how about all these school board bureaucrats and over paid politicians take a pay cut ..the war in Iraq actually helps the economy..every war dose it even took us out of the great depression of the 30s..blaming Iraq is a liberal cop-out.SEALTHEBORDER is right why are we spending all this money on illegals?and how much are we waisting on these so called anti gang programs?why dose this country still offer welfare to people who do not deserve it?why are we waisting millions to keep drug addicts in overcrowded prisons..we are waisting more money here to pay for pet projects and prisons then spend in Iraq..why don't you speak out about those things instead of blaming the brave men and women who serve this country shedding their blood so you have the freedom to write negative things of their efforts

Alberto Lozano, a very smug spokesman for the Mexican Consulate in San Diego, told Minutemen demonstrators (on March 13th) that “This has been and will be Mexico.”

So was Lozano referring to the Mexican consulate itself as being Mexican territory, in accordance with the common (though incorrect) idea that a consulate or embassy is foreign territory?

That interpretation wouldn’t make sense even if the consulates-as-foreign-territory idea were true. If it were, Spokesman Lozano would have said “This consulate is Mexican territory”. But he didn’t, he said “This has been and will be Mexico” which sounds exactly like reconquista talk. And it’s certainly not diplomatic.
If this happened in a country whose leaders respected the sovereignty of their nation, this guy would have been expelled. The Consul in San Diego and the Mexican Ambassador in Washington would have been called to account.

Of course, that would be in a country whose leaders respected their nation’s sovereignty, as opposed to ours.

We live in a country where Tony Valdez and Councilman Huizar say that the curing of L.A.'s problems lie in the rebuilding of Broadway and Streetcars. And Huizar says the City of L.A. HAS the money!!! These guys are two of the typical Socialist/Leftist's that are running this FOOL'S PARADISE...

The city has already hiked monthly trash fees from $11 to $26 over the last two years, but that’s not enough for Tony Villar. He wants to increase your trash fee from $26 to $38! This is nothing more than a FINE. Don’t we already pay taxes for trash removal? Why are they double dipping? Send Villar your trash to let him know your sick of being treated like garbage!

Illegal Alien Social Services Cost LA County Over $36 Million

New statistics from the Department of Public Social Services reveal that illegal aliens and their families in Los Angeles County collected over $36 million in welfare and food stamp allocations in January 2008, announced Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

Twenty five percent of the all welfare and food stamps benefits are going directly to the children of illegal aliens. Illegals collected over $19 million in welfare assistance for January 2008 and over $16 million in monthly food stamp allocations, for a projected annual cost of $420 million.

“Illegal immigration continues to have a devastating impact Los Angeles County taxpayers,” said Antonovich. “With $220 million for public safety, $400 million for healthcare, and $420 million in welfare allocations, the total cost for illegal immigrants to County taxpayers far exceeds $1 billion a year – not including the millions of dollars for education.”

Free and public education dictates that ESL learners be afforded the tools that they need for their education. In my profession it becomes very difficult to see things through rose colored glases when you recieve the documents for the layoff of 200+ educators and the demotions of countless others, and thats just the first round. Whats wrong with raising taxes to put California back in the black? Do you realize that California's poulation a tax increase to balance the budget and put us in the black would be equivelent to $100 per year, thats $8.22 per month, $0.27 per day.

Lets get the budget together and then we can concentrate on who is going to replace that idiot of a Governor that calls himself Schwarzenneger!

Nope! Deport all Illegal Aliens first and then we can talk about raisiing any taxes. The thing is, we already know we wouldn't have to raise taxes because there'd be plenty of leftover cash in the treasury...and you all know it! The amount of taxes I'm paying now make me feel like a female Anaconda at mating season. Sorry, they've gotta go!!!

I don't disagree with you on the deportation part, as a matter of fact I believe that the amnesty that Reagan gave to then illegals was a big mistake!

I don't think that laying off tens of thousands of teachers and classified staff from the school system is going to help California one bit. The dommino effect that these layoffs will create is going to be tremendously devastating, not only to educators but also to commerce that these educators have a business relationship with.

This is a picture of me at the DEA firing range near Castaic. It's an automatic weapon...what agents use when things get serious. I'm not a 'gun person 'but it was a fun and different day for a story on the DEA 's Citizens Academy..." I "killed" a guy who pulled a gun..oops.. a cell phone out of his waistband when I was serving a 'search warrant..." Gives me more insight into cops challenges.... I'm a news reporter here at Fox 11.. been in LA since '83... aside from the traffic it's awesome.. why wouldn't you want to live here ? I have a great job.. the people here are fun... I get to do what we call ''long form'' stories, investigations, half hour specials.. we can really get into some serious issues here... ( no not Britney). Someday i hope to meet Jillian. Later.
