I've seen the end of the world as we know it.  Hillary on Letterman doing the famous "Top 10" list with that now famous perma-smile on her face.  I understand that politicians or perhaps their consultants have now made it standard operating procedure that candidates have to go on the ''funny'' talk shows in order to show potential voters that they are ''regular'' guys ( and gals).. in other words, if someone is funny on late nite TV, or Jon Stewart, or Colber, then those (younger) voters out there say ...''hey.. they can roll with a joke, they can hang with Dave and Jay, that means they'll be a great President!  I should vote for them . !"  If I'm a little off on the logical progression there, someone please tell me .    I just don't get it. It's blatant pandering.  It's transparent.  It smacks of desperation even.  Now I like a good joke as much as the next person, but to see Hillary struggling to be funny while delivering semi-lame Top 10 lines about pants suits.. when she probably could use some sleep is a little ridiculous. Obama was perhaps a little better.. not sure if I've even seen McCain but when he tries to be funny it has a little Richard Riordan edge to it that makes me vaguely uncomfortable.  At any rate, if you put down a list of 10 or even 20 characteristics you'd want in a President, I wouldn't think ''funny'' would be on the list.  When that phone rings at 3 a.m. in the White House it aint gonna be Jackie Mason looking for material for his new one man show.

They all do it. I've seen John McCain on The Daily Show over 5 times. Newt Gingrich was on last week. What's the difference between appearing on David Letterman and appearing on the O'Reilly show or Fox 11's morning show? All politicians have to get themselves in front of all ages, all political groups and numerous topics so they can connect with the voters. Why? Because our president's job is to represent ALL PEOPLE. Not just the ones who are serious or the ones who are silly.

Is your real problem caused by the fact that you don't like Hillary Clinton? If so, your blog says a lot more about you than her.

I think it was funny...mostly because she looks so wooden on TV. Most of them do, it's almost as if most of them try to look funny, and just can't because they're so devoid of personality.

Not like our pal Phil Shuman, who should be doing Top Ten lists on the 10pm news.

Phil, the problem is that big money interests are making our system a sham filled with the most corrupted clowns in history. Instead of really talking about fixing problems, the current batch of political losers are running around cracking jokes. That is why they will not get my vote and that of many other folks, because they are not worth it as they are all about the same. Donkey, Elephant, take your pick, I'll stick with the original Constitution, thank you!

phil, dick nixon was on laugh-in. current campaigning strategies are oppressive on the candidate with so many rallies each day. TV is a better forum. hillary was on GDLA. she faced the hard questions from jillian and dorothy and steve. hillary could have given five mintues to a dozen local stations in a two hour period. as for the letterman top 10, the caliber of the writing can certainly give advantage to any candidate who reads them. i remember thinking it was cool the first time i saw a news anchor on johnny carson. i don't feel anything is queer about candidates on late night talk shows.

It's been said that when your overseas or abroad you can always tell an American in the crowd. They're the one that's smiling... We would rather suffer through something and find some way to laugh about it sooner than most other cultures would dare so yes... we want an executive with a sense of humor.

Humor shows a human sensitivity that would rather cheer a person up then pander to pity. For my part I like a tear jerker once a year or every other year but for the most part 'give me liberty or give me death' is the sacred American precept that gives us the last laugh... no matter what.

The last line of this post is pretty funnny, Dad. I like Hilary Cliton, as you know...but I don't know how I feel about Presidential candidates trying to appeal to voters through popular culture's mechanisms. Have you seen the film "American Dreamz"? You might find it relevant to what you're talking about. In the movie, the president appears on a kind of "American Idol" show as a guest judge. Pretty amusing.

How funny would it be if Hillary went for the angry jungle sex with Obama just to get back at ol' Billy Boy? You know she wants it.

This is a picture of me at the DEA firing range near Castaic. It's an automatic weapon...what agents use when things get serious. I'm not a 'gun person 'but it was a fun and different day for a story on the DEA 's Citizens Academy..." I "killed" a guy who pulled a gun..oops.. a cell phone out of his waistband when I was serving a 'search warrant..." Gives me more insight into cops challenges.... I'm a news reporter here at Fox 11.. been in LA since '83... aside from the traffic it's awesome.. why wouldn't you want to live here ? I have a great job.. the people here are fun... I get to do what we call ''long form'' stories, investigations, half hour specials.. we can really get into some serious issues here... ( no not Britney). Someday i hope to meet Jillian. Later.
