He was supposed to be on a three-week trip to Thailand, but instead 33-year-old Tim Chipley has vanished, and those who know him are worried. Police say Chipley was last seen when he was hanging out at O'Brien's Pub on North Dale Mabry in Tampa on Saturday. They say he left the bar at about 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning, and he hasn't been seen since. Investigators say Chipley is a popular martial arts instructor in the Bay Area, and it's not like him to just run off without telling anyone. That's why they're becoming concerned. "This individual just goes out to a bar with some friends and never comes back," said Sgt. Jim Contento. Chipley was training for a martial arts competition in Thailand, and he was supposed to leave on the trip on Wednesday. But instead, he never showed up for work this week. He also didn't show up when it was time to leave on the trip, which was already paid for. "He's been training for months, so he knows self defense, so that's why we're concerned," said Sgt. Contento. "It's unusual behavior for him. People just don't walk away and disappear like that, so we're concerned something may have happened." Chipley is described as being 5'9" tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He has a shaved head, a goatee, and a large tattoo on his right arm. Police say he was last seen wearing jeans and a dark, button-down shirt. Anyone with information about Chipley's whereabouts should call the Tampa Police Department.

It seems like Tim Chipley was definately on the up and up, every week here in central Florida you hear of something horrible happening to good people. I hope this one ends up with a happy ending, but with all the violence that is going on, with it steadily rising. To me it seems like our laws might not be keeping the right people incarcerated? I see people getting released for heinous crimes, like violent acts, sex crimes and it only seems to be on the rise. My friend who owns a popular bar was complaining about similar issues on his birthday. He was upset with police because he was given a ticket for his tag being expired on the way to get the new sticker, on his birthday. He stated in a blog how he was disgruntled with the fact that people have knock down drag out fights with weapons in the bar next to his, and down the road from his bar is a neighborhood known for selling drugs, people driving around bleep faced, and the police are focused on trivial issues and are not doing anything about these issues, those were his words.

I am starting to wonder if everyone should carry a weapon, Tim Chipley is obviously capable of taking care of himself. I hope and pray he returns home, but it goes to show no one is invincable. I hope that anyone has any information comes forward and does what is right. I personally thing people, me , you anyone that reads this needs to be more accountable for what is right. I have a big problem keeping my mouth shut when I see something wrong. If I see something wrong and I can do something about it, I never sit back and say "It's not my problem" I think one has to put themselves in the akward predicament, or in the victims shoes. What if it were you and your problem, wouldn't you be greatful if someone came to help you out? I think people should try to remind themselves more often that this is the "Home of The Brave" so act that way! I have intervened so many times without having to use violence, doing something does not always mean do something physical. If it is a situation that is not one you can handle, call 911 and let the police take care of it. But sometime response time is not fast enough, and your actions could mean the difference between someones life or death. The right thing to do is not to sit back and do nothing, but to do something, that is being a Patriot, and if it is something you can't handle call the police. It is a crime to not report real crime! So if you have any information, do the right thing and let police know!

Me too, I don't know much about him other than what I have read and seen on the t.v. It seems as if he is a nice person and was liked by many. I hope this is a rare occasion where there is a happy ending.
