Rich on the Road

This should come as no surprise to anyone;  DFW is a traffic mess.  5th worst in the country, according to INRIX National Traffic Scorecard.

What did surprise me about the report that is most of the top 10 worst bottlenecks are in Tarrant, not Dallas, County.  Northeast Tarrant County has some real doozies.

Here's a map that shows (in red) where the worst of the worst traffic jams are

You can read more on where and what is going on at:

Ha, all the hot spots that I have to go into on a daily basis. No wonder that's where most the wrecks occur. Makes sense now. Thanks!

Good post Rich! I was just blogging yesterday about the poor folks in Northeast Tarrant County. Regarding our rating as number 5 in the country. We also happen to be the 5th largest metropolitan area in the country, so we're actually right in line on that front.

Of course you know that! That was meant for the folks who might not know where we fall.

thank goodness i drive 5 minutes to work!
Perhaps mass transit will be found to be a good thing.
Maybe one day Mesquite will decide it's a good thing.

Mass transit comes to Carrollton in a couple of years. And I will be using it.
I am so sick of commuting in heavy traffic.
Plus, the cost of the gas burning away as I idle.

I know what you mean about the commute. I used to drive to uptown from Addison - and during the tollway construction. I traded the higher cost of realestate in uptown for the price of gas and really love living one lightrail stop from the office. The extra peace and time to enjoy life is wonderful!!

I'm not surprised to see 360 on the map, but I am surprised that they only reported South bound lanes as being trouble spots.
The North bound lanes are a nighmare at 6:00 am!!!!!

I know we have alot of bad spots, but I don't see how we are worse than Houston. That town is really bad. I hate to even go thru that town to get to Galveston. But then again I hate Houston. That is one place I will NEVER live, even around it. NEVER!!!!

Yes, it would be nice to have some Dart buses or trains to run through Mesquite--we feel a little left out!!

RICH ON THE ROAD I am blessed with a truly remarkable job that for decades now has permitted me to see corners of the world, far and near. When I'm not on the road for Fox4 News in Dallas/Fort Worth, I'm often traveling with my wife Catherine -- occasionally on mission trips in Africa or Latin America with our home church (Prince of Peace Lutheran in Carrollton). My contribution to this page began largely as a Travel-blog -- sharing current and many of my past experiences in traveling America and the globe. I'm tryng, as we go along, to wade into a wider range of topics without getting in too much trouble. Richard Ray
