Let me know how you are dealing with commuting and the HIGH GAS PRICES!

As high as gas prices have gotten lately, I am surprised to see no change in the amount of cars on the road. Congestion is as heavy as ever. People just seem to be going on as usual, probably because they have no other choice. I wonder at what point will people pull back on their driving. Although Los Angeles is not the most mass transit friendly town, I have to think some will start looking for alternative methods to get to their destination. Metrolink and Metro Rail zig zag across the county and are quite convenient. Monday through Friday I drive from my home in the South Bay up to West Los Angeles and then to Van Nuys Airport. In total, I travel about 75 miles a day. That adds up to almost a tank and a half of gas a week. How much $$$??....almost $300 month. Ridiculous!! Once I am home I stay away from my car. I walk, run, skateboard or ride my bike whenever possible. Due to my odd hours and travels, mass transit and carpooling are not an option. The only choice I have is to move closer to West L.A. I know many of you are in the same boat that I am in. You have to work to pay for the gas and the expensive groceries and all of your other bills...You have to commute to work! Unfortunately, I don’t think we have seen the worst of it when it comes to gas prices. My gas guy says he thinks it may be in the $4.50/gallon range by the end of the summer. Not so good of times…Hang in everyone..

By the way, (800) COMMUTE will give you guys some great info on our cities mass transit. Have a great week everyone..See ya on the FREEWAY!

Well it is a well established fact I wear my original "Made in USA" Stetson cowboy hats and cowboy boots still made in the USA, so I'll take the horse and or buggy any day, the hell with the gasoline industry, let em all go drop dead!

because i work on locations only i spend a bout 150 dollars a week in my truck ..the other day i bought another car its only costs 40 dollars to fill it and the gas lasts for my local driving ..don't know why this is happening its not like there are shortages we are not rationing ..why isn't the federal government looking into this along with the mortgage crisis..I cant figure how a family can afford to live in L.A.other than the entertainment industry there isn't any true high paying industries left here yet a house in a lousy neighborhood still goes for 500,000 food prices have sky rocketed and now gas..by all right this place should be a ghost town yet other then a 3am you cant move on any freeway..i just don't get it..

Ok, someone is speculating the gas prices higher for their personal gain. The Feds evidently know who they are but aren't telling us. But I will take a wild guess at several who would do this. George Soros, Arabs from the Middle East, Chavez and Chinese Foreign investors. They are doing this to destroy our economy, oh let me throw in Bush's Globalist friends too. They have done a marvelous job of making our currency over the last year, nearly worthless worldwide. But there can be benefits to this as well, like an incoming flood of jobs to pay Americans in their devalued dollars and returning industry as well, since Chinese labor is starting to become a bit more expensive. Like John Wayne said in Chisum "Things always change, and usually for the better!"

Rick,

Besides working in radio, I also do yards, so I am stuck with driving, and I also need to keep my tools fueled up. I cannot use any electric tools, for that will be impractical and a Cal OSHA danger to me. Currently, I have not seen any battery powered tools that would work for me either, so I am stuck in this mess with the high prices.

I live in the mountains and drive a 4x4 SUV. I work from home and have cut back on my driving, due to the high gas prices.

I use to drive to L.A. every other week, and now I go once a month to visit my friends.

Well it will take gas to be about $6/gal to ease our freeways.

still feel Los Angeles should have a city gas tax of about 2.50/gal to maintain Griffith Park and National Mountains...

Better Los Angeles keep the money inhouse rather than like Texas and others get it. Even keep the money away from corporations

I moved to the OC to be closer to work. 15 miles away vs. the 50 miles when I was in LA. You think I would be saving money on gas and toll. Yea Right! Not only do I spend more money in travel expenses, it now takes me an extra 15 minutes each way going to work and coming home. that's 1 hour in each direction vs. 45 minutes going from LA to the OC. I suppose that is what I get for trading in the 91 and toll roads in exchange for the 5 and 405 freeways. Go figure.

Wow, the 405, 91 and 10 are just about the worse.

There is like no streets that one may by pass the 91 either.

I have lived in Dana Point, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, and Newport Beach, CA.

Now if you moved to OC it should be either Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, or if you can afford it Newport Beach, CA!

Not the 91, the 55. and that is a parking lot but not.

Astro & Migulli-
This is getting bad..I am worried..I really have no way around it..I travel from Redondo to Van Nuys and back Monday through Friday..My monthly gas bill is up to about $400..My only option is to move to Van Nuys...I can't carpool..and can't take mass transit at that time of morning (2:30am)..I know there are alot of people coming from the IE or OC up to the city...
Astro you bring up some good points..
I am with you on the environment..
Take care-Rick
